    Best test for metal I've seen so far! Love the sound of this cheap thing. One battery for an entire weekend of continuous recording? You can't beat that. You missed a great opp. to do a 1A audit at the Gulfport police station. Next time consider doing that. Either way, I'm sold on the 600 even though that high pass filter seemed to have little affect. Thank you.

    Great little mic for the price. I just have one niggle, the on/off and frequency pass switches on the back of mine rattle. Only a little bit but it still sounds really obvious if trying to use the mic in an active environment. Solved by a applying a bit of electrical tape over them after switching on, but it’s a PITA to do every time you use it!

    • @ajwilliamsmedia
      @ajwilliamsmedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm. That’s the first I’ve heard of that issue. I’ve had mine for about a year and a half. Maybe you got a defective one? 🤷🏽‍♂️

      @@ajwilliamsmedia I think that’s probably the case as it definitely would have been picked up on the multiple reviews if a common issue. If it bothered me more I’d take it apart and try and fix, but it’s really not worth the time.

    • @ajwilliamsmedia

      I agree. It has a better straight out of mic (if that’s a thing) sound to it. The noise level, feature set and build quality keeps me using the Rode though. Still haven’t had any luck with the dead cat. Hope you have better luck than me! ✌🏽

    These are going to be a very noob questions, but I got to ask...
    1. Can I simply plug the aux cable into my PC 'MIC AUX' Port and start using? I already have a decent webcam, not looking to replace it right now.
    2. What microhone arms + adapters would I need to mount this mic to my desk, to go on top of my monitor? So it's not in the frame.
    Any help would be greatly apreciated!

    • @ajwilliamsmedia
      @ajwilliamsmedia  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Firstly, I love noob questions, so thanks for asking!
      1 - That might actually work. I’ve never done it, but I don’t foresee an issue with doing that.
      2 - It has a 1/4-20 thread on it. That’s the standard camera tripod size. Microphone arms usually have a 3/8-16 thread. However, you can get an adapter that converts 3/8-16 to 1/4-20 here - amzn.to/3ih1oAt (affiliate link)

      Great question. The SGC-600 has a 1/4-20 thread instead of a 3/8. If you go with a boom stand you’ll need a 3/8 to 1/4-20 thread converter. BUT you can get a regular monopod and use the mic natively on that.

    Contemplating between this and the SGC-598, I actually have the SGC-598, but it just broke after 3 years of super heavy usage, so may get another one or upgrade to this, if it's considered an upgrade lol. Does the SGC-600 come with a case? Actually think it sounds even better than most of the Rode mics

    • @ajwilliamsmedia
      @ajwilliamsmedia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The SGC-600 does not come with a case, but I do still think it’s (mostly) an upgrade. It has easier battery access, the buttons are on the back instead of the sides so you can see the settings easier. The only downside is the shock mount.
