The 3/5 compromise was not a compromise to make every black person only coint as 3/5 of a person such as Muslims regard women as half that of a man. The 3/5 compromise was to make it so that every 3/5 slaves were counted for congressional apportionment, representation and taxation. The south wanted every slave counted as that would lower thier tax liability to the federal govt in which they disagreed entirely and later fought a war against, it also gave them much more seats in govt which held no black asses in them and thus made the argument for slavery much stronger it also meant that when the federal govt was sending checks to each individual state those with more people got more money and since the head count on slaves averaged around 4 million at the time you can see the dilemna with counting every slave as 1. The 3/5 of a person argument is extremely disingenuous wp knows the truth and they lie to spin a narrative to whose benefit I really have not a clue. But if they had thier way they would have strengthened the southern white plantation owners not just financially but politically and also internationally. We ought to keep in mind just whose beds we tend to make in today's day and age, it might be wise to assume we are the ones who will be sleeping in them later...
So if Lincoln said he wished he could save the Union without freeing the slaves, what was the reason for fighting the Civil War? Economics, like EVERY war ever fought.
+DeusShaggy In fairness to Lincoln the quote referenced in the video was written at a time when Northern public opinion was still very much divided on the question of emancipation. Lincoln was explaining his view of his responsibility as President to maintain the Union. "My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that" An oft-ignored part of this letter states "I have here stated my purpose according to my view of official duty; and I intend no modification of my oft-expressed personal wish that all men every where could be free." It is also important to note that when Lincoln wrote this he had a draft of the Emancipation Proclamation in hand and was waiting for an opportune moment to announce it to the world.
The quote is always taken out of context to try to say Lincoln didn't care about freeing the slaves. What do politicians do to get others on board with their agenda? They lie and persuade. You have to understand that freeing the slaves was a radical idea back then. Had he not made that quote it would've been long after that the slaves were freed.
Many of the slave owners remained wealthy or were land rich AFTER the civil war. Their descendants were given a jump start on success due to land ownership. Some of the families still owned thousands of acres of land. Many of these descendants remain wealthy and many of the slaveowners descendants are in government locally and in congress. The majority of the citizens of the south and the country were not slave owners. More Americans fought and died for the North than for the south. Please don’t blame all Americans for slavery.

@@RAWALITY Why are you telling me that? it is irrelevant to my request ro this person for making a video on world slavery
@@kingofthemultiverse4148 This video is about black history nothing more
The 3/5 compromise was not a compromise to make every black person only coint as 3/5 of a person such as Muslims regard women as half that of a man.
It's now modern legal economic slavery besides end prison free labor slavery in California 1941.

So if Lincoln said he wished he could save the Union without freeing the slaves, what was the reason for fighting the Civil War? Economics, like EVERY war ever fought.
Most of the Confederate states (the ones who actually started the war) listed slavery as a reason in their articles of secession.
If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that" An oft-ignored part of this letter states "I have here stated my purpose according to my view of official duty; and I intend no modification of my oft-expressed personal wish that all men every where could be free."
It is also important to note that when Lincoln wrote this he had a draft of the Emancipation Proclamation in hand and was waiting for an opportune moment to announce it to the world.
Ba bien pinche rapido
I'm a little confused! Was that supposed to be American history. I think someone needs to go back and take a history class.

After the archangel Gabriel asked the devil for aide into stealing 7 stars from my head about his Muhammad and Christ said even the ones who Pierce him will know his Vengeance of the Roman's Catholic synagogues and St branches thereof outside of his Covenant.

And don't forget Muhammad himself was a slave owner.

You don’t learn about this in very many Christmas cards these days.
You leave out lots of important information...for a reason?
Why did many jump overboard....was it because they made a CHOICE to do so? They decided they would rather jump overboard than to be a slave...seems like Kanye was right...you might not like the options you have to choose between but you still get to make a choice
You sound so fucking stupid.
@Karelle instead of name calling how about you prove me wrong...I presented facts, you named called...smh
@Jordan
How do you know they weren't met with resistance? Were you there? Do you think the slaves just went along with these people they never met and said, "ok I will go on your boat to a foreign land and work for free for the rest of my life." The Slave traders had much more sophisticated weaponry than the slaves had, so resistance wasn't as easy as you seem to think it was. And you being in a war has nothing to do with slavery being a choice. You still sound stupid.
Many Native Americans fought to keep their lands so don't preach about that making a choice to fight back bullshit. Slaves didn't have a choice, if they were kidnapped at gunpoint. And have you never heard of a slave revolt or the Underground Railroad?? Many tried but failed because the odds were stacked against them. Go read some history books you fake ass Patriot

Its simply wrong black Africans were not slaves in US from 1619 to 1865. There was no US in 1619. US was estbablish after American Revolutionary War or after 1783. Many northern states abolish slavary before 1800s. So US slavary lasted in the South from 1783 to 1865 or 82 years.
Thats still along time
@@RAWALITYfor sure too long and we can all agree that South should had abolish slavary same time as in the the North. But 82 years is lot better then 246 years narrative in this video.

this is literally not true LMAO
So, in 1783 all the current inhabitants and institutions were moved away and innocent people were brought in. Slavery was supported by the people.

Newsflash: 400 years of slavery ended 150 years ago. It seems the farther away we get from it, the more some people want to talk about it incessantly and obsessively. Wouldn't it be more productive, as Candace Owens says, to focus more on the future than the past?
No.
The people that benefited from it want to forget it while the people that were hurt by it live with the constant reminder everyday.
