Even Mario can be creepy sometimes. The most nightmarish thing I've seen in a Mario game, though, is the unused enemy in Super Mario Sunshine "hinokuri2," which is a big drop-shaped skull on two long legs that wanders about Delfino Airstrip.
I'm glad someone else thinks this boss is difficult. I thought it was just me. Frankly, this probably should have been a later boss but I guess Bowser Jr. Mechas were thought to be a bigger threat. Also, never knew about this level's shortcut. Would have been useful to know of this when I got the Green Stars here.
Personally, I think the main gripe with Gobblegut is that after you half his health, you can't reach the last three bulges before he hits you. There's a simple way of circumventing this- dont pop Gobblegut's first three bulges when he's slow, pop his last three. That way, your hitbox is decent and he goes down easy.
Idk if I’m just awful at games but I’m playing Galaxy for the first time, never got round to playing it as a kid. And I CANNOT beat this guy. He chases me too fast for me to even get near enough to him and his whole entire body covers the screen so I can’t see
This boss is more about anticipation and prediction. You will never keep up with him by chasing him down; you need to understand his patterns and get Mario to where he needs to be ahead of time. Super Mario Galaxy 2 is harder than the first one though. It’s really aimed at people who have played through Super Mario Galaxy 1 and understand it well, so anyone starting from 2 will likely have a hard time.
You can reach some of Gobblegut's bulges by performing a backflip, but to have an easier time with him (especially during your rematch), try getting rid of Gobblegut's 3 hindmost (is that correct?) bulges 1st. This should give you enough time to get rid of his 3 remaining foremost bulges before his 2nd phase attacks you.
I remember when this first showed up on my screen, I had a mini heart attack actually realizing I had to fight this thing. I had nightmares as a kid.

Gobblegut wheezing and whistling like a train noise.
Overazard! You are just running around! You need to let gobbleguts SEE you! Only then he attacks!
Yow. That's one of the first bosses in the game? Looks quite tough, since he chases you around constantly while you're trying to attack him.
Fudge nostalgia
and minecraft!
this was extremely helpful
Koiyoko Chan yep especially for me so dumb ic thought I was supposed to hit his face

@Overhazard Ohhhhhh....also, just a question. Why did you stop tweeting?
Mario hasn't fight a similar monster in "Super Paper Mario"?

Is it just me, or does Bowser Jr's little ship thing look like a Wailord?
Or better yet, more like Bigweld from Robots.
i hated this fight just because gobblegut is fugly :P
@CobaltLuster Ohhhhh...gotcha.
@yytan12 The Overhazard person on Twitter is an impostor--the real Overhazard doesn't have a Twitter.
This galaxy's song reminds me of Checker knights.

You have to spin into his bellyache bulges
Too bad he didn't blow up the same way as Volvagia or Twinmold did in Zelda
