I finally decided on a return pump. Going with the Vectra S2. Got a generator before I got the tank. Put one of those stimulus checks to good use lol. Champion 7850 starting watts 6250 running watts. It's going to be awhile till I can set my tank up so I'll live vicariously through yours 🤣. Looking great can't wait to see it up and running.
Air bubblers have served me well in the past and I always keep one on the tank at all times as well. Oxygenated water prevents a ton of issues. In regards to losing power for a week it’s not going to be enough though… a return pump on a generator keeps the entire system going. 👍
I picked up a battery backup air pump last week which keeps going if power fails and will run for about 10 hrs after. I like automation and it’s nice to not have to do anything for short power outages… especially in FL where storms can trip power a lot.The battery backup for the return pump is another piece of mind that keeps my hands off with automation. These types of purchases are not needed to reef like you mentioned but if you have the money they sure are worth it. You can’t argue that. Same goes for computers and other household electronics - we have backups and surge protectors for them.
I'm right in Central Florida so I know all about storm and power getting knocked out. I like the automated approach, but the more I physically have to do on the tank, the closer I am with potential issues that may happen
For sure bro. I feel much better about starting this tank up knowing that I have a backup plan for emergencies. 👊💥👊 Thank you for always taking the time to comment and for your support. 🤗
I had a lot of friends in Texas lose everything to those crazy snow storms. We are from San Antonio and would have went through it as well had I still had my tank up and running. I think the battery backup and generator are worth the extra cost just to ensure you and your livestock don’t fall victim to a circumstance out of your control.

Thank you Goldy. I had many friends in the state of Texas lose everything to the winter snow storms. Many were out of power for a week. I don’t like to chance anything and be prepared. Appreciate your kind words and support bro. 🤙🤗🤩😎
I don't run any type of back-up. I was running a icecap for my Waveline DC6000 return pump, but since i installed the apex, I haven't used it. There is a way I can still use it and still allow the apex to do it's thing, but I have not got around to do it. I will be getting a generator (eventually).
Luckily my power has only gone out for an hour this past summer and what I did was panic, lol. Someday I would like to atleast have a generator Incase of an emergency.
I picked up a battery backup air pump the other day for the mangroves. If power goes out the air pump switches to the battery and will run for about 10 hrs.

Very nice bro!!! That’s a bigger generator than I picked up. 💪
Love your little helper!
What a cute helper!
He’s the best… always eager to be in the action. 😍😍😍😍😍
Battery powered air bubbler! Tried and true old fashioned method! Keep it simple is the best way of reefing

Been looking for a power outage solution since I moved earlier this month. Thanks for this video, perfect time.
You bet! I have much more peace of mind setting this tank up with the battery backup and generator. 🤗 🤙
I feel bad. I just got a chance to watch this. Awesome content as usual! Keep it up!!
Thank you homie! The encouragement is much appreciated… 🙏🏼
This is on my list, a backup power or generator is very important to protect your investment. Thanks #ReefStache

I don’t have a backup and really need to get one here in Texas when we loose electricity due to the heat . Thx for remaining me to get one !

You’re the best bro. Thanks for the kind words and support!!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼👊💥👊
That battery backup looks nice and thin. The one I have is pretty big but it doesn’t last nearly as long!
Yes, I like the modern design - it is HEAVY though. 💪
@@ReefStash lol yes I was surprised at the weight when I got mine. OOF!
@@kristaf7926 same 😂

Thx for the support! 🤙🤗
What size PVC I just picked up a Cade 1800s2 and I have an M1 RP
It’s all metric. That flex hose fit a 1.25” pvc pipe. I have a screenshot of the measurement in the vid.
I'm bad and don't have a battery backup! I also haven't set up my sump yet so no return pump.
Moving slow like me 😂
Luckily my power has only gone out for an hour this past summer and what I did was panic, lol. Someday I would like to atleast have a generator Incase of an emergency.
Hey bro, battery operated air pumps at a minimum will make all the difference. Here’s a rechargeable air pump: amzn.to/3liEI1I
I picked up a battery backup air pump the other day for the mangroves. If power goes out the air pump switches to the battery and will run for about 10 hrs.
On my budget I went with a power inverter that runs off a car battery.
Have done this before also and it worked well. More options the better! 👍
