Great series Manuel!! Electronics is a hobby that I started as a kid (I had very forgiving parents who were OK with me playing with valve radios, which could be picked up for next to nothing in the late 70s/ early 80s when I was a young kid) and it's never left me. I have been wanting to get an understanding in a bit more depth about the specific details of how the circuits work, especially in radios. I've learnt most of the common problems and basic techniques to fix things (including what magic can done with just cleaning!!!) but the way you have gone through the schematics in this series is great for me. It's just at the right level where it's a deeper dive but not crazy deep. Thanks for that!! Really good and, of course, well done on the restoration of a very stylish radio!
Whoever ends up owning this one is going to be very pleased! Whether it is you or your daughter, it will be appreciated and enjoyed. Good work on this one my friend! Stay Safe, Stay Healthy, and Stay Happy!
It was clearly splendid job done. Manuel, thank You for designing this PCB for Bluetooth module, it made my life easier. Thanks to this Bluetooth capability on old radio my wife can finally enjoy radio hobby.
Looks wise I was a little nonplussed when you first showed this radio Manuel but seeing it finished and working it looks pretty good. Your steady step by step approach is to be admired and thanks for sharing your knowledge too, I get a lot from it. Cheers!
It works well, adding Bluetooth is a new concept and I might think about using it at a later date. You are like me in that every radio I obtain, remains in my collection of radios. I've had to lose many of my radios because of living in different countries and they just couldn't travel with me. I've nearly completed making a low voltage (45v / 1.5v) two valve / two band radio, just got to make a wooden (vintage style) cabinet for it. Looking forward to your next radio. Many thanks for your very interesting vidios.
Hello again Manuel, and happy new year. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this series. I have never seen this model radio before, and I don't think that these were available in the UK. It certainly is a good looking set with a wonderful sound. I would definitely keep it as it is a superb example. Stay safe and well, cheers Chris.
Thank you for the great detail on this radio restoration . I have learned so much from this series .I think I"m ready to start on my 2147 and take it step by step as I am ready and I acquire the necessary equipment. Thanks again
Again, great work and very nice Radio! Nice to hear that your daughter likes vintage stuff. If you ever come across a "Grundig Stereomeister 15H" from 1964, I think this could also get her attention (and yours too). Fantastig sounding and, as the name says, in stereo. It looks kinda similar to the 2147 but with slightly more controls. If you need it, I could send you hires-scans of all the paperworks incl. Usermanual and Servicemanual. Keep up with the fantastic content and stay healty!
A very good series Manuel. Loved seeing this come to life fully again. Now if only ELV would ship to the UK again! That set sounds particularly good considering it hasn't got the speaker size of the big Grundigs. As for 21 year old daughters... I have one at 22 and one at 21... they steal everything from Dad!
Bloody little thieves! We obviously didn’t teach then right 😏 I recently learnt about ELV’s shipping restrictions. That is unfortunate because they seem to have some really cool stuff.
@@electronicsoldandnew I had to buy my signal tracer from them through a friend in Germany. it makes things a bit expensive having to double ship.. once to her and then from her to me.
As far as i understand the reason for these partial offers restrictions of ELV is, that we have different regulations and standards in some countries within the EU. So a part of the ELV-offers is not delivered to all countries within EU. And i donkey thought that we have a common market and standards are accepted mutually.
Manuel, the sound of the Wind gusting in the background adds to the drama of your Presentation. Your camerawork during your alignment balancing the ability to show your test equipment as well as turning the tuning tool is well choreographed. Please don't de emphasize the use of schematics during your videos I think that's where people learn.
I suspect that the generator you are using is intended more for aligning the stereo decoder section rather than the R.F. stages, to align the decoder you usually need a fully quieting signal, but obviously with enough attenuation it could be used for R.F. alignment. I used to setup stereo FM tuners for a living, many years ago!
Everything is possible, but too much needs to be messed with to achieve that. I prefer to do as little intervention as possible when Installing these devices so that it can be reversed if needed.
@@electronicsoldandnew While I love Murat's idea, I do understand where you are coming from and respect your decision. If it were me doing the work, I probably would do the change, but that is just my thoughts on the matter. You have done an amazing job with this one! Thank you so very much for the depth of explanations, the care, detail and creativity you put into it.
That sounds really good on headphones through youtube. So much bass. Quick question, is it safe, in your opinion, to have old tech plugged into the wall socket at all times? Should one have it on a switched cord extention or something equivalent? Thank you.
Personally, I always try to remember that they are decades old. This means that leaving them permanently connected seems to me a little risky, so I always try and ensure that the socket is switchable.
Greetings Manuel. I am looking at one of these that is for sale online and haven't been able to determine if it has a tone control other than the music and speech keys. Is there a separate tone control on these? Much appreciated. Like you, I like the looks of these.
It has a tone control behind the volume pot. I love these guys. I’m doing a series of articles in the ELV magazine and am using one of these as the subject.

Sometimes the simple circuits sound the best. This is a beautiful device. Very impressive.
An amazing restoration, as always from you.
thanks
Yes. Less components = less sources of distortion!

The only thing we all have in common is excessive burocracy. Unfortunately one burocracy isn’t the same as the other 😊
Hi Manuel, Looks realy great. I understand you will put this radio in your lounge allthough I wish it was my lounge🤣🤣
:)
Fantastic job once again! Great work and I loved the detailed explanations in this series. I certainly learned quite a bit from this project.
Glad it helped.

We were in the middle of a windy storm 😊
As for the use of schematics, I won’t change my habits. I’m too old for new tricks 😊
Loved the learning experience thanks so much
my pleasure
Much enjoyed again, Manuel, a super looking radio.

I agree, but with enough attenuation ...
It actually does a decent job.
Wonderful.

On Bluetooth mode, dial lamp could be disabled and another blue led could be turned on to illuminate the dial :)

Where do you keep all these remastered radios? Do you have a museum?
12 at home,
4 at the office,
2 at parents home,
....
Not sure I remember all of them! 😊
@@electronicsoldandnew Perhaps you should think abt a bigger house.... :-)
... or a smaller collection 😊
@@electronicsoldandnew No way. I know this. We are hunters and collectors.
