    I need pete back before anything. He is the best option at first on the market and he is a huge part of this team. My favorite player since his rookie year.

      Based on the rumors it seems like he doesn’t have much of a market. Wonder if Stearns is waiting for his price to keep coming down to pull the trigger.

    My concern with Roki Sasaki is the comments about Japanese Media… now there MAY have been something lost in translation that we’re missing, but It does give me pause because the New York Media can be brutal!

    Sasaki will sign 4 weeks before pitchers and catchers report. Also, flying to JFK from Tokyo is only 2.3 hours of flying time different from the west coast and east coast time is 13 hours behind Japan (Daylight Savings) while west coast time is 16 hours behind Japan, so arrival time in JFK would be virtually the same as landing in LAX.

    Mets talking to Vladimir for a trade/contract extension. If they get him, thats Lindor, Soto, Vlady, Vientos, Nimo. That's the only lineup that can stand up to the Dodgers

    • @LockedOnMets
      @LockedOnMets  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      It’s typically not wise to sign pitchers to long-term deals and we already saw Burnes somewhat decline last year. Stearns’ process of short, less expensive starting pitching has worked for him in the past and it seems he’s going that route again.

      @@LockedOnMets This take tends to get brought up a lot but... Outside of 2021, his peripherals are all in line and consistently always above average. He brought his cutter usage down which had led to higher contact % and focused on revamping his slider. He also was a RP in the first 4 years, so this tells me he's a pitcher that is always willing to adapt and work on his stuff. He also hasn't missed a start in over 3 years.... People keep mentioning how he's a time ticking bomb, but for a guy who has had his K's/velo decrease, he's still been one of the most effective SP in the last 5 years. Maybe he isn't a top 3 pitcher anymore, but for a top 10 pitcher, who could easily slot as an Ace in our rotation on a team where we're primed to push our chips to go all in? Time is now. And if you add possibly Sasaki or Manaea? That's a tough rotation. That being said, we have to trust David Stearns.

    From here on until the season starts Pitching and batting equal signings. Starting pitching and Bull pen in equal measure, just as the Brain Trust is doing and you're explaining. This is a most connected ownership of a sport franchise in the country.

    Can the NYM move Vientos to second base? If so, then he can also platoon as the DH? If that’s possible then you re-sign Pete Alonso, you bring in Aranado for what…two years? You keep a Acunã and you move him out to the outfield. Realistically, both he and Vientos would only be out of their positions for two years.

    Hi Ryan, if the Dodgers get this pitcher, they'll call the Dodger pitching staff the Yakuza terrorizing MLB hitters. The Mets can still compete with them with Christen Scott, Bake Tidwell, and Brandon Sprout a major pitching signing could put them over the top.

    (Xmas list: Crochet, Pete, Joc Pederson, another SP-maybe Buehler _if_ reasonable. Dream ask: Bring Jake home.) Roki could be great, but the Mets might not be great for him. It sounds like he really might do better in a smaller market. Apparently, he’s a very quiet guy who doesn’t like chatty people, and he had trouble with the pressure from the Japanese media when he was struggling. Playing here is his dream, but he’s had a lot of tragedy in his life, and wants to live for today, not knowing what’ll happen tomorrow. That’s why he’s not waiting two years. It’s not about money. His agent says he can handle a large market, but I suspect he’d prefer a smaller one. It wouldn’t surprise me if he ended up in, say, Cleveland, Detroit, or Kansas City. Milwaukee or Arizona seems like a possibilities, too. Or maybe even a team that isn’t quite there yet, but has some young talent and could take a step forward, like the Pirates. Maybe even the Rays or A’s, given their weird circumstances. Not sure he cares about endorsement opportunities and such, and if he does well, those will come anyway. Adjusting to life on the other side of the world is hard enough. Doing it as a pro athlete, under the glare of the New York media, not to mention the fans, does not sound like it would appeal to him, nor be good for him. I obviously don’t know him or anything, but I’m sympathetic to his story, and I want him to have a good experience and do well in this country. If that means playing in a smaller market, so be it.

    A Spanish international player is NOT going to renegotiate for less money. This is their "big score" and isn't happening.
    I don't think a 1-2 million difference will decide where Sasaki goes, but if the Mets only have 1-2 million to offer, he is definitely NOT coming here. Especially with the Dodgers around.
