I live in Florida so I deal with this problem at least once a year. What I do is remove the plastic and bring everyone inside. It’s a two day ordeal for me😅

Just a thought, can you put everything you can on the floor? And lie the taller cacti down? I know it's not ideal and may not be totally practical but if things are going to fall/get blown over then maybe controlling how they fall is better than leaving it to chance?

@desertplantsofavalon it was quite windy over here but not as bad as you had it.
We put thick clear tarp over all our greenhouses . Bit of a frost barrier and an air gap to retain heat they will be comming off in April.
Our very big glass greenhouse we got second hand originally from 1950s and it is built like a tank thick solid beams. They probably made things better and stronger then .

All good wishes for everything to go as smoothly and gently as it can from us in Australia to keep plants, people, pets and property safe. One hundred mile an hour, blimey... we've sometimes gotten up to what would equate to 75 miles an hour and that was bad enough! Hopefully the shelter of the house and garden walls will also help protect you and your precious ones.

I had another idea - if you have a car, you could get the taller cacti in the seats/footwell if you covered them with sheets or something similar and maybe stack some others in the boot.

Hi Lyn. The donkey shed and the polycarbonate tunnel was absolutely fine, I really thought the tunnel would be destroyed. Unfortunately, the house and grounds were badly affected. We have a large hole in the roof which is leakinginto the bedroom, no electricity until Monday night, and at least 14 trees down around the house and in the donkey fields.
@@chrisislei-coyle1736 Oh my golly Chris, thats so awful with your house and grounds being damaged and a large hole in the roof and with no electricity and all of those trees down, I am so sorry to hear that, but thank goodness you and your family and the Donkeys and all your plants were safe, but so sad to hear you are having to deal with this, a lot of our neighbours and friends are without electric too as a big Pilon fell down here, and we had lost power during the storm until midday on the Friday, I think its going to take a long time to get everyone connected up again, I hope everything gets sorted out for you very soon XXXX 😢🙏❤
Well, as you have seen me do in the past. Bring in the very best, rarest, oldest plants that you can hustle in !!! Use every space you can. I Even put some under the bed!! Get in what you can guys !!!! You have a little time!! I know how you feel !! I've been under the gun many times with our crazy Ozarks weather!! Even had to leave at a quick moments notice because if a tornado warning! This is so scary guys I really hope you guys make it through this !! Mother nature is really being hateful to many of us this year. Sometimes she can be a real " B"!!! fight back and work saving what you can!!! And yes, these are terrible decisions!!! @@Lee-k1k9i I've already seen some of the photos and footage of the damage caused by this storm. The Republic of Ireland has already recorded it's highest ever wind gust. So no, it's not just a bit of wind. And just because you added "respect" at the end of your comment doesn't make it any less daft. I truly hope her polytunnel is okay, if it is then fantastic, doesn't make me daft. Wouldn't take a strong gust to get inside and it rip it apart, it's literally plastic and wood! So, heaven forbit anything happening to it, but if it has I hope you'll be the first one to apologise to her and donate some money to help her buy a new one.
