I’ve bought the 1, 1.5, and 2s (code Woolson of course lol). I love the fact this company is listening to what powerlifters want. Both in function and, seemingly, stylistically. I certainly don’t feel the need for the high tops but I think they look cool and want to support a company like this. So I’m gonna pick up a pair on Thursday.
Who knew you could revolutionize the flat shoe powerlifting market by actually making a shoe for powerlifting? I can just imagine some slipper companies going ”What!? SHOES!?”
My sister bought me some for an early birthday gift. Used it today, with notorious lifts, and other barefoot shoes, my feet would hurt (have had some fasciitis and achlles tendonitis at times) on this one, significantly less pain. ill try em for deadlift tomorrow!!
I’m using Guide Rock climbing shoes. They’re a hybrid. They fit tight like climbing shoes. They’ve got a strong firm base if you remove the insole. They have a good grip as a combined climbing / hiking shoe.
I have basketball shoes which aren’t flat, and I have a pair of running shoes that are somewhat flat. Would love to try high top weightlifting shoes like this or maybe converse. But I’d like to try flat shoes for squats so I could keep my feet more firmly on the ground.
Do you take the sole out for squats or deadlifts? I have the 1.5s and took the sole out to feel even closer to the ground and really liked that. Wondering if you feel like it’s necessary with the high tops?
I squat in high top converse, I’ve always squatted in those and I’m not sure wheater to get low or high top avancus. I think the lows look cooler but I’m nervous they’ll mess with my ankle. Any suggestions?
Seen these shoes quite a bit during equipment check. How does the midfoot area compare to the sabo shoes or reeboks? I have flat feet and with the Reeboks I was spilling into no mans land - above the rubber base but not making contact with the ground
You might have to clarify what you mean here. I kind of have an idea what you are asking but not exactly. Are you asking how wide they are through the middle of the shoe? Definitely wider than Sabos and I don’t notice a meaningful difference from reeboks really. But the sole is entirely flat.
What are the chances of UK or EU distribution in the near future? Would love a pair, and the price seems fair. But extra cost of shipping and import fees makes it more than i can justify. Until my Sabos actually fall apart
You mentioned they fit a little bigger than the low tops, my low tops feel a little loose but I feel like if I go down a size that my toes will end up pushing against the front of the toe box
Does the ankle support on the shoe help with restricted ankle mobility? I have the low tops , loving them, I feel the lack of support mentally and physically makes me uncomfortable with squats. Then I go forward and lose balance. Squat shoes didn’t help. I did mobility but still had some issues with that. Btw I’m a size 8 and Avancus sizing is 8-8.5 so should I size down?
Hey there, The high top's offer additional support, as well as increased security for those with restricted ankle mobility. We recommend sticking with 8-8.5.
I'm looking for new (sumo) deadlift shoes. I have only deadlifted on the notorious lifts gen 1's but they are worn out now after 2,5 years. I prefer pulling barefooted sumo and very toes out.
This is the dumbest reasons for not buying the high tops, but I’ll stick with the 2.0 low top for the all black sleekness w/o white logos anywhere. Point and laugh at me.

The great powerlifting shoe wars will be studied in history. Thanks for the review. Might pick these up for deadlifting.

@@Jeneric81 Chuck Taylor did it years ago!
No they did not.
Thanks Dave for the in depth review. The ankle mobility was my biggest question. Looks awesome and I'll be getting a pair in black!

Wondering how the avancus and notorious lift radix compare?

Always take the insole out.
Please make a variation with a black upper and white sole

Get the high top imo.

Powerliftingshop is the EU distributor.

So when are they releasing a heeled lifter?
If you want a heeled shoe with similar design philosophies I’d recommend the TYR L-1

Might need these still using notorious lifts
And what about comparison with Vivo barefoot shoes?
I have a review on vivos. Vivos are worse by a lot
btw theres a typo in your channel description
Ha thanks. I think I fixed it

Can we just say the low top laces are way too long
