- There are a ton of cards in Mystery Booster 2, and some of them appear in a border they've never been in before, white border! I break down the 5 most expensive reprints that appear in this border, and a lot of them are really powerful. So let's break down those cards and talk about why they are so expensive.

can't wait to never open any of these because I can't buy the set at my LGS
Ah yes because ordering something off the Internet is so much harder than bitching and moaning about everything
@@chdaniel00 the internet doesnt give us FNM, RCQs, a place to hang out. We lost many LGSs during covid, WotC should be incentivizing people to shop at their LGS, not undercutting the LGS and selling products they wont let LGSs sell.
@@RikelWirkkunenExactly this, stop pedaling all this Amazon or direct order nonsense, magic is a game to play at a game store, give things to LGSs
You dont understand how "just buying something from the internet" doesnt support the community@@chdaniel00
I look forward to bothering everyone at the LGS about Thornbite Staff for the next 2-5 business years
My only hope is it slow rolls out like mb1 because damn, being event only really kills the hype around it.
Tarnished Citadel is great in Darien King of Kjeldor deck.
Crazy that four of the five are lands
hey guys you can get any card you want if you just print it lol
Are any of the white boarder cards getting foils?
Wait i have a ton of thornbite staffs. My lgs gave up on magic and gave me like 3 shoeboxe size boxes of bulk. Got like 20 staffs 😂😂 stonks
Cool
damn dude sell some of them the market need them
Can't wait to never touch a single one of those boosters, thanks WotC
Yes it has the whole produce a colorless mana but WHY is Tarnished worth 30 dollars???? Its IMO just a much worse City of Brass.
Its such a joke that the best set they drop is unavailable. Im pretty much done with these clowns
Yeah Card conduit is getting my collection here VERY soon
You can print an entire EDH deck at Staples for like 8 dollars. Just slip the paper in front of sleeved bulk.
So... four lands and an old artifact?
WOTC, why the hell is it so "difficult" to reprint these game pieces into retail products? 🤨
Think about the poor scalpers and investors! /s
None of these would be healthy in a normal limited format nor would they be fun for commander precons
Waste of time mentioning anything from that set
Important to note these cards will probably all fetch a premium and not actually affect card prices since the set will not actually see a full release, until they decide to do it anyways
Ya, plus the set is probably enormous like the last one so it's going to be hard to pull any card from the set
@@wademiller2376 It is. Think they said its 1800 cards or somthing like that. So average box size is 36 packs with 14 cards, 1-4 being Rares, for a total of 504 Cards.
Just going by Rares with new pack numbers, 1-4 meaning average is 2/3, your likely to get either 72 to 108 Rares or better per box.
NOW this also depends on the set Distribution. If the set was equally distributed, Meaning there are as many Mythics as Rares as Uncommons as Commons, that would be 800 Rares/Mythics, So a box would barely get you 1/8th of the sets Rare+ cards. If its somthing more like 1000 Commons, 400 Uncommons, 200 Rares and 200 Mythics, well then 1 box has pretty good odds of getting you 1/4 of all the Rares/Mythics in the set.
Edit: So after looking at the way the set is setup figuring out the distribution will be harder, and its looking to be much harder to pull things you may want as you said.
Considering that much of it is going to be dependent on the Framing of the card. Some come only as Future Sight Frame or Traditional Foil, some come as only White Border. So depending on the cart and its treatment is going to affect its pull chance.
Good stuff , but sadly most of us will never see this set.
Can’t wait to never seen any of these cards
I expect that it might be a slow rollout, but like MB1, I expect boxes will show up on TCGPlayer and if someone wants singles from the set, they’ll also be able to order them.
Also, I’m waiting to see how many Festivals in a Box they end up sending out before I judge how prevalent it will be.
@MTGRecon That's not the point, though. Many of us were excited about this box because of the potential in limited; a true chaos draft. Not to mention the fact that this set seems to honor what Magic has been and has become.
However, WOTC is shaming us through their own faults, saying that the average person wouldn't want the set because of product overload. This is completely missing the point. This set is a homage to Magic over the years, as opposed to the Universes Beyond bs like Clue and... Fortnite? It's clear that the only reason why many MTG players aren't calling for a boycott is because they love the game and wish to see it flourish.
This set would have been exactly what MTG fans, old and new, had asked for since the product overload, something that BANKS have told Hasbro not to do. However, the bigwigs, throwing a fit, decided that we, the community, was in the wrong. I've played this game with family for years. It's practically become tradition to go out to my LGS and play Magic nearly every Friday. The reason why I care so much is because I can't part with something so close to my family.
@@lucatdcat8720 Totally fair! My plan is to wait and see what availability actually looks like before I jump to any conclusions about the product as a whole. If you're able to get a box through TCGPlayer for a reasonable price you can still draft (and my game store had MB1 [non-retail] shortly after the first convention). But we'll see, the rollout is certainly not ideal, but I think it has more to do with trying to make a cool convention experience and less with actually dealing with product overload.
So many shorts creators are gassing up this product when there's no point because 90% of us will never get to play it lol
I’d argue that it’s more important to talk about it, so people are informed before it goes live, since it does have such a limited opportunity to get your hands on it this year.
@MTGRecon 100% agree. I haven't been this invested in Magic in over 8 years. And this set is (was going to be) by far the one I'm most excited to pick up. And I know others feel the same way. It just sucks that you either have to go to an event to experience it, or get super lucky when the secret lair releases. Because you and I both know that scalpers are going to buy up all of the supply and then resell it at an absurd price.
Not to mention, the "reason" they gave for not making it available at an LGS honestly felt like a slap in the face.
I love the white border design so much!
There is no FO if you know you'll MO.
Ngl, white border is ugly af lmao
Bro why all top 5 were lands?
Yay, can't wait to pay an inflated secondary price for a product reserved only for convention attendees :)
These look so ugly with that border.
The modern white border somehow looks way worse than the old-school one. I wish we got more of the Future Sight borders, and that they’d be available at LGSs
yeah idk why people are excited for this. the white border does not look good. they changed it for a reason lol. this whole set just looks like cheap proxies
Urza's saga is a good reprint
I still dont understand why people run wasteland over stripmine
If you’re talking about Commander then yeah, Strip Mine is the better choice, but it’s banned in Legacy and restricted to one copy in Vintage, so Legacy and Vintage players rely on Wasteland
@@p_drizzle123 yeah im talking about commander
Except people actually do play Strip Mine over Wasteland (or both) on the 2 formats you can play it over Wasteland.
@@estelaguarda5423 never seen it exept from myself
Top 4 is all lands...
Hey man, great content, but it's probably worth not covering this set. Literally no one will be able to get it. I'd be shocked if any of these drop in price.
It’ll be out there for years like the last one most likely, it’s accessible through festival in a box, and like MB1 I expect that soon enough boxes will be on TCGPlayer, so I think if people see the product and want it, in time, there will be easy ways to get it.
Part of my push of content recently about it is that since it does have such a limited time to get your hands on it through Secret Lair, it’s important for people to make the decision if they want it or not, before their only opportunity to do so this year.
@MTGRecon I really really hope you're right, because there's nothing I'd love more than to open this set.
Can you tell me where you are finding these prices? Currently, I am not seeing any market providing pricing for anything in MH3 other than a snow land and whiteout.
shame on you for mentioning this product 😂 im joking, but 90% of people wont be able to open this product sadly😢
Yay lower the value of more original cards!
This is the first and only reprint of thornbite staff. Since the set is so big i doubt it will cause the card to go down at all. I like the white border. I have one old one in my gisa deck
I found too of them in s 10 cent bulk box! I was super stoked it's such a cool card
Ugh urborg needed reprint not cabal coffers
THESE ARE PROXY CARDS NOT FOR CONSTRUCTED PLAY.
Thornbite staff and ghelerson starn
These white borders look awful
That set is fucking scam
Who else is tired of urzas bs
Why are they white boarded?
Funny how Tarnished Citadel was considered absolute trash during Odyssey. If you needed mana that bad people would play City of Brass.
EDH becoming immensely popular has made a shitload of cards great
My problem isn’t with needing to go to a MagicCon or buy a secret lair for the set. My problem is that you can only buy a $250 con in a box secret lair to get a box. I’d have no problem paying $150 for just the Mystery 2 box but even with this being a long month for paychecks I’m highly unlikely to get a chibi-lair that I’m not fully interested in, three collector packs, and some other bonus cards to open Mystery 2.
Bro, thornbite staff is like 3 to 7 euro on Cardmarket with a price trend of 8 euro - waaaaay cheaper than what you say here wth
a lot of cards are different prices in europe
@@xeper9458 the Secret lair where you get the boosters still costs the same
It’s hilarious I hate wizards more with every release. 😂
Its so nice to see everyone covering a set that most of us will never get to touch 😂😂😂
I need so many of the white border cards
Is the full set spoiled already? That's insane, bloomborrow just came out. Why do they have to rush everything so much now.
What do you mean 8 sets a year is too many
@@Metha_59 Yes, that is exactly what im saying 😂
Don't worry, you won't be able to get this set anyways
Damn Thornbite Staff is $21? I think I got mine for like $2-3 each.
Dang that was around rivals of ixilan or dominaria they were that cheap. I got my single copy in a shoebox of bulk so I'm not complaining!
My LGS is in negotiations to get a bunch
