Found this again 6 years later and wanted to tell that this tutorial was “life changing” when i was just starting my journey/carrer as a graphic designer. Great job!
This is great work. I wish there were step by step guides to doing things like this, i find illustrator so hard to learn as a hobbyist with no graphic designer friends I usually have to watch videos.
I know that this comment is 3 years old but... yeah it won't bother to tell people about an amazing guy who created a channel dedicated for graphic design and has a step by step Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and more. the channel is called Gareth David studios
TheChinization Of course you need step by step tutorials if you're a beginner, nobody's born skilled and smart! You're just encouraging young people to give up on their dreams and goals.. "Practice makes it perfect" 😀✌
TheChinization You didn't bother to ask how old the person was, neither where they are from, nothing at all. Try and preach when you know something about the other person. And Sharika, I'd say, please don't believe things such people say. You've got to be patient and steady with your learning, however, you've to keep yourself updated with the latest trends. There's a distinction between an algorithm based robot and a human. About the steps you wanted, there are plenty of other videos out there with a step by step demonstration.
I'm old and was trained at the art of Corel Draw. This is a simple 10 minute corel for me but Ai would probably take me hours as I'm not familiar with the tools lol so I'm here to see the process. I only use adobe for indesign, photoshop, and premier.
Dan's sense of humour along the way made me enjoy this entire video all the more. I love Adobe! Thank you for making this Dan - you're an awesome teacher!
Everyone asking for a step by step I suggest you go and watch videos about the tools and what they can do and everything will get somewhat clearer for a start.
Amazing, incredible job, I am an amateur, I have started trying illustrator some time ago, it was quite hard to understand since I started photoshop in the same way, like a hobby, and I couldnt figure it out, I had no idea how Illustrator worked, so I started watching some tutorials and now I understand a little bit more how it works but everytime I watch a video like this, it is totally amazing, I hope some day I can do something like this =D Great job =3
Carlos Culajay Keep at it. I started out learning Photoshop and when I was more capable with it, I started to learn illustrator. I can tell you it was one of the most frustrating experiences because Illustrator was fundamentally different than Photoshop. But watching inspiring tutorials and works like this one kept me going. I'm a much better at it now.
thanks about your comment oscar , same here i am trying to learn illustrator , the sam in photoshop same tools i mean . so i learn it to help me in fashion design
very nicely explained. it would be hard for someone who doesn't have a good grip in illustrator. but i created somewhat similar. and my confidence is in the sky now. you are a very good artist. i loved it. thank you.
Your illustration is praiseworthy. But, for a beginner like us, it's very hard to understand your work step by step. I tried it multiply times but didn't get the whole. If you do all the steps a little bit slow, it will be very helpful for us. Thank You.
I'm having a lot of issues with the shadowing at 1:21. How did he make the shadow go under the buttom of the cup when he created the shadow on top of it? I've slowed down the speed but still cant catch what he did. I'm new to this, can someone please explain it step by step?
Try use Shape builder tool (Shift + M). To do this, use Selection tool (V) while holding down Shift to select both of the shadow, and hit Shift + M, select the area you want to remove by clicking it. And then press Delete key on your keyboard
I wonder how he could create the 2 shapes next to each other without overlap or space? I tried so hard but could not archive the shadow as flawless as his. Mine shadow pieces has the line where 2 pieces join.
How did you do that when it comes to 1:20? After I set the shadow shape, I could not bring my cup on top of the shadow, please tell me how to do that, thank you!!!
Thank you so much! I've learned a lot! One last question, please! How did you do that 1:31? I don't know how to make that rectangular not to be covered by shadow! Please please, you're amazing!!
The darkest brown circle which you made after that using pen tool you made the wave shape then how did you fill that of the colour of the circle outside of that?

what shape mode did he use to cut the shape in 1:01???? i read a comment that he used pathfinder, but can anyone give lme specific steps to achieve what he did to cut the shape?? plss
Select both shape, and go to Pathfinder > Divide. Then select the area you don't want and hit Delete button. To combine, select both shape again, go to Pathfinder > Unite. That's should work
Hello! Could anyone help me? Im having a problem with connecting one shade with another like on 1:40. Between one of them, im having a line which i am not able to delete. Thanks!

The bubbles and the shadow Wow.
This video was amazing. Very satisfying, calming colors+concept, and not stretched beyond the needed amount of time to reveal this process. 😌
