Many moons ago, I saw an interview with Austin where he was telling how he lived on the cruise lines directly out of school. He never had a home or apartment. When he came back home to see people, he'd crash at his parents or on a friends couch. I thought how sad it was that he never had somewhere to feel home and someday he would find it and it would fill a part of him. He has, and while I will miss the magic, I don't begrudge him that basic human need to be happy at home.
Very true, I understand completely why he wants a home and famiy, and if he can make music while enjoying that I will be very happy for him. He was always my favorite in Home free and I just am very sad that it is kind of like an ending to me. Their sound most likely change some and I am curious who they will find.
I love the fact that Tim is supporting Austin so well that he even texted him on the day he made his announcement on TH-cam to see how he was doing, and if all was well still. That is brotherhood. I am so glad that they will still be there for each other, even if we won't have them on tour together.
I am very sad and will pout for a while but I definitely want Austin to be happy. I'd hate to see his sparkle fade because he wasn't following his heart. I have faith he and Home Free will pick the perfect " addition " to the group, just like they did with Chance when Chris left. I still follow and support Chris and will do the same with Austin. Thanks for the Home Free reactions.
Austin has been with them for 12 years. We should just be thankful for all the great music Homefree has given us for all these years.

Were all going to miss him but I wish him and his beautiful wife well. Homefree just released a new Ring of Fire❤ Amazing. I will definitely continue to follow Austin and Homefree. It was sad when Chris left but then we got to experience Adam Chance ❤🎉

Such a great song! Bette Midler did it first in 1971 but I remember Tanya Tucker & Helen Reddy's versions. The guys did a really nice job backing up Brooke Eden on this song. They never take away from a guest vocalist. And how cool did they all look dressed in the western theme. Reminded me of the Clint Eastwood spaghetti western movies I used to watch.
Delta Dawn was separately recorded by Helen Reddy, Tanya Tucker, and Bette Midler in 1972 & 1973. I still have Bette's version on my playlist. I love Austin's Man With No Name/Blondie look here.
It is best to think of Austin's departure as a gain for both him and Home Free, as the future is potentially bright for all of them. Remember that Austin, himself, was a "replacement", and so was Chance. Were they not gains? That won't mean we won't miss Austin (egads!)!
Brooke Eden was the perfect 6th for this song, taking HF back to those country tones!
Tim was a replacement and so was Rob. The only original member still in the group is Adam Rupp, Chris’s brother.

Home Free has been independant for almost 5 years now. So anything from their "Dive Bar Saint's" album and after you shouldn't have any copyright issues with. Unless YT is somehow claiming copyright on these videos when they shouldn't be. Thank you for the HF reaction. ❤

I almost cried just now just hearing Austin's voice especially at the end going sky high like that and now he's leaving. There's absolutely no hate from me here and no blame like others have and I'm happy for Austin, but dang I'm going to miss hearing that voice of his with the guys so much ☹️ and I'm kinda nervous about the new person.....

Whoever comes into Home Free next needs to be unique - not only is Austin a great Tenor, but he could beatbox a little too. Every little skill helps.
I’m bummed they ain’t touring Australia, but if Austin eventually tours solo (Amberly mentioned most Spotify downloads outside the US occur in Oz) I may have to go see a show.

Just watched vid that Austin did where he talks about wanting to do Broadway. I hope you are extended an invitation with some free tickets to check out one of his new performances when he hits the stage. We all know Austin can sing the phone book.. and he is a good actor. I also wonder who in the world they could get to replace him as tenor in Home Free. Hmmmmm... we definitely will miss him, but he has put in a life's work and we thank him for that!!
Like said on Austin’s post, I was so hopin to see Home 🏠 Free continue like The Oak Ridge Boys, Statler Brothers, an Alabama… because they have definitely cemented themselves with them
In the same way Chance opened up new music for HF when he came in after Chris left, and another creative mind in the group, I am sure that the HF guys (with Austin's help) will find a new HF and that may open new songs for them that they never felt with the current 5 in the mix. Who knows, HF may ask a woman to join them permanently. Austin said last night that he's not done with HF, he was just tired of the touring grind and he wants to be present in his marriage and any future kids' lives so professionally he's going to pursue those options, and who knows, we may get an occasional treat of a video or concert with not just 5 HF members, but maybe Austin and Chris will join them on occasion.
Apart from Adam Rupp all the boys are replacements and look how they've turned out!! As long as YOU continue to make me laugh and point out things ive missed with HF songs. My dad and my step-mom thought this was actually Tanya Tucker, because I purposely did not tell them. I grew up with Tanya's version and my sister's best friend was named after it, drove her crazy. The anniversary of my mother's passing was the 17th and my dad posted Home Free's When A Man Loves A Woman because it was their favorite song (Percy's version) but he knows that I'm a Fry and my mama was my rock.
I am going to miss Austin within the group, but he has to follow his heart and we have to respect that - from what he said the other day many are blaming Amberly and that is so off base and far out of bounds. His brothers (yes brothers) support him and Amberly supports him, that's really all that matters. No he'll never be replaced, they are just going to add a new and different perspective.
I believe Brooke Eden is also an independent artist, the video for her song All My Life includes her wedding.

Found Home Free during the two years I lost both of my parents. I am sure all will be good, but when I heard the news it hit me. Like losing a part of what got me through it.
Peter Hollens would be great. He has a family life though. Tim and him are good friends. When Home free comes to my home town of Sweet Home to play they get together after country fest. Peter and Tim and friends get together in Brownsville Oregon and have a 2 day camping type outing and tents, fire singing and whatever. Think last year was like $600 per person (well worth it to hang out). The song Blackbird by Tim and Peter was done at that time I believe. Next time they do the Brownsville outing I'm going
I love Home Free but with reflection, I feel the only person not replaceable is Adam Rupp. Not just for his skills but his creativity in his choices. 💜💜💜

Presumably if Jeffrey wanted to sing in a group or sing a capella, he would already be doing it. Chris Chatham is primarily an instrumentalist, though he does sing on occasion. I think HF are going to have to cast the net wider.

In hearing his initial announcement of leaving HF, I understood him to say that he is going to help find his successor.
There have been several young ladies who could fit well with HF and fit the range that Austin has. HF will be different but better because their dedication to music and their prideful tradition.

I have an idea for Austin’s “successor” - let’s recycle the old members. Ask Mr Atwood first, then if he doesn’t want to, reach out to Chris Rupp to rejoin. I always felt he was a Tenor-Baritone, where as Chance is more Baritone, with “gospel” Rob taking over a chunk of Austin’s parts. Full circle. Haha.
Austin's reasons for leaving HF are very much like Avi Kaplan's for leaving PTX. Except for Austin Amberly added to the decision.

I'll humbly repeat my suggestion--Home Free should try to convince PETER HOLLINS to replace Austion...he is a great tenor, has a good personality and already works very well with TIM and the guys.
