More scientific definition of diffusion and osmosis is here.
if two solutions of different concentration are separated by a semipermeable membrane then the movement of solvent particles from a region of lower concentration to a region of higher concentration is called osmosis.
the process of free movement of both solute and solvent particles in a solution from my region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration until the concentration becomes equal in every part of the solution is called diffusion.
It is this in solids liquids and gases.
Am I right ??
