That reminds me of my eighteenth birthday party... My Mom made me a vanilla daiquiri to give me my first taste of alcohol. Now, I've tasted soda before and my Dad brought me a can of beer on the same day because it was a sort of Father-Son tradition in my Dad's side of the family that the Father and Son drink beer together when said Son turns eighteen (but that was after the daiquiri). Anyway, when I drank the daiquiri, I tasted only a *tiny* bit of the alcohol Mom put in it even though she *said* that it would be fine because all I'd actually taste was the milkshake-like taste it had. And that damned daiquiri and the beer that came after tasted like soda and it also smelled and tasted like the rubbing alcohol you'd use to clean injuries (not that I've ever tasted rubbing alcohol before). Of course, I'd prefer a vanilla daiquiri over any other kind of alcoholic beverages, but, still, it sucks that I was lied to like that at all and that I believed the lie before I drank it.
It can genuinely not be a lie, for super tasters coffee will be really bitter and noticable in everything while regular people will almost not be able to taste it

If you don't like the bitterness, I would suggest trying a breakfast light roast or a medium roast. Both tend to be less potent and can sometimes be a bit sweeter in flavor profile.
It technically is insect poison, the caffeine at least. I guess it's less recognised as such because it doesn't hospitalize nearly as many people and it doesn't have known lasting effects on the body, but some people are very sensitive to caffeine and actually get heart palpitations from drinking a single portion.
