    Most helpful part for me was when you just played thru it at the beginning. Would be nice to see it played thru again but slower. Would also, like a quick break down like: "Here are the basic chords: D, G, F.... or whatever they are. I don't have the patients for "play this fret on this string" step by step instructions, lol. But I'm sure this is helpful for some. We all have our own learning styles

    You’ve got lessons on all the songs I want to learn thanks so much. One question, are you adding extra strums in the intro when you play it ? I’ve only been playing 5 months and struggling with this.

    • @TimGuitarLessons
      @TimGuitarLessons  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don't think I'm adding extra strums? Honestly sometimes it's hard to tell and be 100% precise with explaining strumming patterns. A lot of times the rhythm of an acoustic guitar part is very fluid in that it doesn't always keep to a prescribed pattern. This intro is difficult because it relies on being able to seamlessly emphasize notes in on what are essentially "down strums" and also "up strums"

    • @yobodobo288
      @yobodobo288 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tim yeah I think it’s the rhythm I’m struggling with, I’ll just have to keep practicing. Thanks a lot 👍

      Ahhh crap you're right... that's what I get for not looking for videos of him playing it first... And he's pulling his pinky finger back to fret it on the 5th and 3rd frets of the 1st string in his G and F chords... which is different than what I'm doing here and makes sense for double drop d

      @@TimGuitarLessons it's legit the same song. Play the tracks side by side and they are near the same. On top of that, the flow of the words is in the same flow as Constant Sorrow! This isn't "inspiration", its plagiarism!

    • @TimGuitarLessons
      @TimGuitarLessons  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@phooze4953 They're for sure similar, but I definitely don't think it's plagiarism... Despite structural similarities, I think they are periphery to the heart of the two individual songs making the songs feel/sound uniquely different to me at the end of the day... House fire's riff, progression, lyrical content, etc feel much darker to me than Constant Sorrow does

    • @phooze4953
      @phooze4953 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TimGuitarLessons man i appreciate a reasonable response despite my pretty aggressive comment lol. i see your point, but man you really outta play these two songs side by side. what i mean by that is play one til like 45 sec then pause it and start the other at 45 sec. then listen to both entire songs. the beat/instruments are near exactly the same. one added guitar chord is the difference. and the flow of the words is the same as constant sorrow, just different lyrics. i was a big fan of constant sorrow and listened to it often, so hearing this song i immediately recognized how similar it was and was shocked that the flow was also copped. i do enjoy this song, i just feel its far too similar to be simply called an inspiration of constant sorrow.

    If you drop tune to D and then capo at the third how is the bass string a d ?
    I'm sure I'm missing somthing here, but im confused ?
    The d chord I'd an F , yeah. And the bass.

    • @TimGuitarLessons
      @TimGuitarLessons  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The low bass string would definitely be a real f when tuned down and capoed on 3... in most lessons I intentionally specify that I will refer to fret numbers and chord names relative to the capo, as though the capo is the nut. So, even though a d shaped chord here is a real F, for ease of recognition and to not constantly be transposing in my mind, I will call it a D. Did I forget to specify that at the beginning of this lesson?

    • @Nathanmorgan78
      @Nathanmorgan78 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah, ok. I thought so. I was just doubting myself.
      Yeah, it was The way you phrased it, I guess. You said the capo gives a more substantial D.
      Anyway, fantastic lesson as always; I'm always happy to contribute on Patreon.
