Hi friends, I posted my first cover song/video a month ago, just wanted to tell you guys about it. I think you might like my playing and my sense of humour: th-cam.com/video/bZWgpik5TFU/w-d-xo.html
Hi, You did this review 2 years ago, I was wondering if you could review this same song Empty Room, as I feel he performs it differently in this version (my favorite btw) Thank you and yes RIP John Blackwell, the drummer th-cam.com/video/KHhr1mDPsOA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=NNrWW9o4gjpP4Q15
I was fortunate to see Him 13 times Live …and out of hundreds concerts I’ve been I can Honestly say…No one touches Prince coz those ain’t concerts they are trips Each time I became one with the Man I Love the Most and He Never let me down. Can I play my guitar are the most Beautiful words ever spoken coz you know You were in for a Treat.
@@YesYouCANPlayGuitar I understand and I hear that often but it makes me happy that you and so many others have found Him and appreciate Him as He so rightfully deserves So welcome to the Family
The thing with Prince was when you saw him live, somehow, you became ONE with Prince and the band. I can only liken it being at Church and everyone is just "Together", everyone feeling the same, thinking the same - a pure spiritual experience. Also, you could go and see him every night of the week and it'd be different. Sure you'd have the hits and maybe some songs from the latest release, but every night you could get a different arrangement of some of those songs, different words, extended versions, different medleys of songs... He never got bored of playing live, we never got bored of seeing him. He did say he got tired of playing Purple Rain every night but he never got tired of the reaction. He did "retire" some songs for a few years, but that was OK as he had plenty of gems which he started to play more often... He also treated B-Sides as equally as a hit. Many artists forget their b-sides! What people also forget, was that he started out Playing RnB. Here's a song when he revisited playing the blues in 1994/5 and it would be interesting to see you react to it. It is called "The Ride" performed with my favourite incarnation of his Band, The NPG: th-cam.com/video/02UGTgi8u_8/w-d-xo.html
Prince was music. It flowed through him and it is truly what he lived to do. He heard his music in his head and played all instruments to record the song, sing and harmonise the song. He wrote and recorded one or more songs a day. There are over 8000 unreleased songs plus 12 finished albums, films, rehearsals and live shows all recoded and stored in the vaults. They say there is enough music to release through the next 100 years.
Prince was pure magic. IMO there’s a lot of great guitarists some famous some are not. But He is my favourite bc he delievered feelings Through his guitar like no one else. Thank u so much for this💜💜💜
This clip was actually 2 songs. Empty Room and then he morphed into the song Elixir. Welcome to the World of Prince and thank you for featuring him! Once you go down the Prince rabbit hole, you will realize the depth of his catalog of songs and that music was his life.

The greatest Musician/Artist that has ever walked on this planet!!!!! oh by the way he happens to be the greatest Guitarist that has ever lived!!!! one on one Prince would destroy any guitarist past or present! everybody else was 1 dimensional, Prince could cover any genre masterfully, his showmanship is unequal and his Swag was Godley like!!!!!!!! no Guitarist had the Vocals and moves. What u said.........Prince was thee complete package and more....I have seen many performances, and they very good very enjoyable, but a Prince performance .....not only was it on another level..........how about beyond the planet Earth and this is no exaggeration...there will never be another..............
The guy on keyboard is Renato Neto , Rhonda Smith on bass and the late great John Blackwell on drums. These are actually two songs the first is Empty Room the second is Elixer, you’re absolutely correct Prince is next level.
@@YesYouCANPlayGuitar he reached the level yanni playing piano.... prince auditioned him in minneapolis during the 80s before Yanni made his live in acropolis, i think he reached that level while playing piano/microphone tour just before he left the world
Nice reaction. You mentioned that it looked like Prince might be preoccupied during this performance. This was actually Prince’s first concert after Michael Jackson passed away. He was in rehearsal when he got the news. He shut everything down (maybe for a few days) and stayed in his room. I’ve seen a recording of this concert and it’s really good. It’s a smaller unit, as you noticed, but he included a variety of songs and strong guitar.
Montreux 2009 Prince's concert as a whole is brilliant. Some heavy guitar rock with slow jazz rock in it. Prince's version of Little Red Corvette (slow down) is an extended slow jam version. Makes it a completely different version of the song. He opens the concert With "When eye lay my hands on u." A song that flows as the temptation of the lyrics and music simultaneously builds.
I totally agree. I love all his Montreux concerts the best. He played different songs there that some he didn't play here. All of them are awesome concerts💜💜💜. The keyboardist name is Renato Neto. He had his own band and has a Facebook page. Check him out. He's awesome. You have to hear him play Stratus. You'll really enjoy that!
You have some of the best and most interesting reactions to Prince that I have ever seen. That second, jazzier song that he did here, is called, "Elixir". And yes, that word is a double entendre. Even in his latter years, when he was supposedly less "risqué", he was never not sensual, sexual, and able to turn a phrase that left you with no doubt as to where his head was at. Keep digging deeper, my friend. You are on an incredible musical journey.
Boy, he was really in a league of his own; the more I listen to his music, the more I realise... Glad you enjoyed - there's so much more to experience.
Imagine a guy who could play like he could, and NOT being known as a guitarist by so many guitar fans...tells u he always saw the big picture....not just soloing just to solo
YESSS!! This song is in my top 10 Prince songs of all time. Thank you 💜💜💜. And yes he was thinking back on something in his life. I can feel his hurt😥. Second song is Elixir. You have to watch this whole concert. Or any Montreux concert💜. Please react to Eye Love You But Eye Don't Trust You Anymore from this same Montreux Jazz Festival. Love your reaction ❤️
When this performance was recorded, it was a month after his rival/friend Michael Jackson had passed away. Tavis Smiley revealed this in an interview when he visited Prince as guest in Switzerland where this performance was recorded. He said that Prince, upon hearing that Jackson had passed, canceled a weeks worth of rehearsals for this performance and locked himself in his room at Paisley Park for a week. When he spoke to Prince in Switzerland, he said that all Prince could talk about was his respect for MJ and his work.
If you ever want to switch it up, i highly recommend reacting to prince best dance breaks, its a trendy reaction too, there are also drum compilations, piano, bass, etc from Prince. Great reaction as usual, and great hearing your opinion and knowledge on music
Thank you my friend for pointing out the next level thing. I'm happy that the world can see the gift Prince had live especially with his guitar playing. You're a true musician to recognize that. Thank you for this reaction video.
I've never heard that before! Thank you so much for sharing and reacting to it. I was lucky enough to see Prince in concert in '85 (purple rain tour), and in '88 (lovesexy tour). He was transcendent!
Yippi...found another reaction to Prince from you...Thanks! OH GOD!!!! He is so missed... Prince always gave everything he could to the stage. The raw emotions he gave, in his voice...in his music. There will never be anyone like him again. I have been a fan since the release of the album Controversy( says a bit of my age😆) and I have never been disappointed.
The more you discover Prince you will see he played all genres of music. His bandmembers have always said he was the consummate bandleader. React to him doing Motherless Child Live and you will see how he directs his band throughout the performance. They had to watch him throughout because he was known to change the direction of the song right in the middle. I love hearing your knowledge of his guitar skills from someone who plays! You are correct he was "next level" or should I say very few was on his level, lol.
I've had a lot of requests for that one, so it will be done for sure. Yes, I was also shocked that he uses EMG pickups, which tend to be used by heavier bands (he has great guitar tone) Thank you so much for the kind words :)
Am really leased that you’re discovering Prince. Splendid musician, he truly made the most of his gifts and worked at it as a daily regimen. He also loved getting under the sack and crowing about it, hence- when I saw him live, the “songs for the ladies” would seriously paint a funky smell in the arena. As a dude, I wish he’d impress me more than the chicks.
@@YesYouCANPlayGuitar Regarding any of the other movies after Purple Rain : beware. They don’t get any better. (I don’t include Sign O the Times in that ‘cos it’s more of a concert than movie. If you can get a copy of Sign O the Times to watch then figure it is only 2 years since the Purple Rain tour ended when that footage was put down.
Some of Prince’s best concert performances when recorded outside of the United States. United Statians always wanted him to stick with Purple Rain. And by the way, the pianist is the one and only Renato Neto!
The covers he did were also songs he made his own with the arrangements. Many artists have commented that he was the finest arranger ever. I have been listening to his cover of Brian Ferry’s “ More than This”. It is wonderful and in his own unique range. He was one of only 6 people in the world with the largest vocal range of octaves. He wrote ‘ It took me five women to get over you’. for Joe Cocker. I think that is a great song. ( may have the title a little jumbled) He wrote and gave the songs to many artists.
You can feel the pain and depp despair so much. He gave the cords space to breath and he knew how important the notes are you don't play. Prince got a natural feel for music wich is so rare and really make love to the strings. Thank you for your channel...always a pleasure. Purple love from germany. Peace and b wild bro!!! O(+>
Have you seen the 2nd show footage from 09 ? See his cover of Spanish Castle Magic, followed by When U Were Mine. He ends the show with a very electric guitar version of Purple Rain- incredibly fresh.
I never get tired of watching him play guitar my first time was live in 1981 I believe and I'll never be the same🎸💜 I would really love it if you could react to his live 1985 version of Take me with you , thank u for sharing your entertaining and informative Prince reactions☺🎸🎸
Great Chanel, i love to see the videos :-) The drummer is John Blackwell. I was there at the concert. He was the main act of Montreux Jazz Festival in 2009, he played 2 shows on one night. Also Claude Nobs was on stage after he finished, the founder of the Festival. Perhaps you can watch one time BAMBI from Prince with great guitar, it is in Tokio 1990, like hardrock from Prince :-) Bambi Prince and you find it on youtube. And also Purple Rain Milan, that was crazy when he played the guitar in the solo, was a great great concert!! 2010. Perhaps you like it :-) :-) Greetings. And I also have Tinnitus but the love for music is still there, I am 36 ;-)
Thank you, you will find Bambi Tokio 1990 from Prince on youtube and also Purple Rain Milan 2010 on youtube. The tinnitus I have 11 years now. Got it by Joe Bonamassa concert. Some people will laugh but that concert was louder than any punkconcert I was. The drums were so loud that some people left the building after one song.
Your comments on the lack of excess on his peddleboard is very perceptive. If you ever watch a full concert, you'll notice that there aren't really 'breaks' between songs... He used lots of techniques to keep the concert rolling and have the band play almost continuously. It is something that has bugged me about other big acts that there is so much downtime between songs. I feel his small peddleboard is one way this manifested itself. Less junk, less things to go wrong, less things he couldn't trigger himself at the perfect time. His shows were rehearsed to a huge extent so that he could improvise over the top of it all and let the atmosphere of the room dictate the direction of the setlist. His near daily performing at his own Paisley Park Studios - albeit studio recording or putting on an informal gig - meant he was never more than a day or two away from being concert ready. Just a stellar talent.
He was and having the facility at Paisley was brilliant to always have the musicians show ready and constantly looking at their performance. Although he could have afforded the best guitar techs to fix any problems while playing live, he chose to keep things really simple.
The only reactor I've seen who gets it about PRN's guitar playing - there are guys who are faster & more technical, etc., etc., but in Prince you have one musician with superb technique as a lead and rhythm guitar player, with years of knowledge and skill in multiple genres (rock, R&B, blues, jazz, new wave, funk, and more), who is near the pinnacle of conveying emotion when he plays - with a track record that spans decades. Most importantly, he's not afraid to take risks (playing-wise and career-wise). I don't care what anybody says...I've seen him in Detroit, San Francisco, Minneapolis, DC, and Baltimore...Prince is THE one. (PS: guitar gems on Montreux 2009, Set #2 --> Stratus/All Shook Up, Peach, Spanish Castle Magic, All the Critics...) Subbed...
Thank you so much! As mentioned, I was always aware of Prince growing up when I was younger, I knew he played guitar, but I didn't grasp how talented he was... better late than never :)
His first 5 albums (in his early twenties) were recorded with only him alone in the studio playing all instruments, having written all music and lyrics and doing all vocals and harmonies. Just him alone. He only hired band members when he was to tour at the beginning but ofcourse other musicians eventually introduced music and expanded his knowledge.
Prince ALWAYS showcased his band and ALWAYS had female musicians with him. If you have the opportunity will you react to Prince with his female group “Third eye girl” and the song was a a short clip of their rehearsal for “plectrumelectrum” which was rehearsed at his home/studio “Paisley Park “💜😃
The hole concert is incredible. First time I saw it standing in my kitchen and forgot, right next to the chair, to sit down for two ours. And not because i'm dancing but it sucks me in like a magnet. And i thought what was different here? Right...he didn't dance. If you watch closely , he even limps a bit. He was in pain and with his skills to own a stage, covered it up like .....no words, it's unbelievable.
Thanks for the Reaction. I like at 11:05 in the video how he gestures to the sound tech for more vocal in his in ear monitors. Prince even makes that look slick.
Prince would tailor his sets to the occasion, this performance was from a Jazz festival in Switzerland so leaned more towards his jazz side. I just love this performance, it's so emotional and was an unreleased song from around 1985 about a breakup with fiancé Susannah Melvoin. Prince seemed to be married to his music and relationships suffered, he had a colorful dating history to say the least. I was always curious about this performance, there's a scratch on his hand that's bleeding -- would he have done that on purpose to feel physical pain before singing such an emotional personal song? Great reaction, you have that look of falling into the Prince rabbit-hole.
Susannah I am assuming is Wendy's sister? Wendy is a great guitar player, although my reaction to America 1985 was blocked on TH-cam (but I'll have it up on my Patreon when I launch it hopefully by the end of next week) admittedly, I found Wendy to be quite attractive in the movie Purple Rain...
@@YesYouCANPlayGuitar Susannah is Wendy's twin sister. The ALMA (American Latin Media Arts) awards show is another interesting performance where he switched gears and infused it with a Latin feel and has Sheila featured prominently. It's very high energy. th-cam.com/video/viHdtY7GDLs/w-d-xo.html
Friends, I really appreciate all the love and feedback on my reaction videos, especially to Prince. I hate asking (and do my best not to) but if you could all take a second and hit subscribe (one click of a mouse) that would mean the world to me. So many people tell me that he was one of the best guaitarests ..but not recognized as such.... everyone in town knows I love Prince... I have my car decked out with Prince
Je suis un fanatique de prince je les vu 4 fois en live et j'écoute que lui en profondeur je découvre des nouvelles musique souvent et y'en a pour 100 ans
@YesYouCANPlayGuitar, Prince has always had the brooding, "going through something." It is often about feeling like he deserves love, craves it, gives it, but either loses it, or fears losing it, to competition, and a fickle partner. Listen to "Got a Broken Heart Again," "When You Were Mine," or, "The Beautiful Ones." His odes to love, "Nothing Compares 2U," and, "Arms of Orion," those are purely his pouring out of his ability to adore someone, but even there, the first of these pre-supposes having to at least imagine the loss, to realise the depth of feelings. If you listen to his albums in release order, knowing "Purple Rain" is semi-autobiographical, you will get a lot of him, but you would have to have lived through hearing what society was saying to understand more. In spite of his immense talents, he always heard the criticisms, and took too many to heart. Him being hard to work with for some reflects this. Being wrong, told one is wrong, by someone one respects, means that being less than what he thought he might be is possible. Just my take, as a fan of his since at least 1984. I have most of his albums, some on vinyl, others cassettes, and a few CDs. He is replete in my YT saved public playlist of my music choices.
You talked about transcendence and I instantly remembered of Prince performance of Purple Rain at Syracuse, th-cam.com/video/bm03wqLY3Nc/w-d-xo.html this is a 15 minute performance with an 8 minute solo at the end, and during that solo, before the "oooh oooh" section, you can see in Prince's face that even he doesn't know what just happened, you can even see him pretty much thanking god and looking up because he just went soooo hard. That's a must see, most of those 15 minutes are guitar solos, before and after the actual song.
If you could read Duane Tudahl’s books of Prince’s working life you will understand he lived for music. Duane has done 1984-1985 in book one and 1985-1986 in book two. Paisley park was finished in 1987 and he did all his recording there and stored everything in his vault there, until he filled it and found another to fill. He was prolific and the music in his head that he had to get down when it came, determined his life according to him.
You can purchase the books at any good bookstore. I am hoping he is doing 1986 - 1987 next. The books are copied from his working diaries and recording records and many interviews of band members. Very interesting. Enjoy.
It is said that he wrote this song about Suzanna Melvoin - who she says that they were engaged to be married and broke up. She is also the twin sister of Wendy-his guitarist in The Revolution. he also wrote If I Was Your Girlfriend about her as well.
I’ve seen an interview somewhere where they said he was experiencing some kind of pain from his hip injuries over the years around this time. They explained that is why he wasn’t really moving around on the stage as much. It was also and ode to why he focused more on the intense playing of guitar. However, this is one song from the entire gig and the gig was multiple days. All that not withstanding, if you’ve seen enough performances, he does have a quality to build up a performance that may start off soft or mild and he’ll take it to a higher plane.
Hi Dvonta, he was one of a kind that's for sure! We have had many discussions about Prince here in past videos and on Patreon... I totally agree with what you are saying about his hip problems.
Hey, did you noticed that on the 8:25 mark of your video Prince his pick flies out of his hand and keeps on rocking without pick until he throws the guitar away. Sometimes I wonder if he would’ve jammed longer if it didn’t happen. 😎
Well Prince wrote this song a long time ago during the recording of Purple Rain. He never released it Dr. Susan Rogers said. She used to be his engineer from 83 to 87. Prince used to tell his musicians we are playing for the people. He used to tell them , you don't have a good time. But, when you get up on the stage you make sure you give them what they want. That's what Levi Seacer said he told him, after he told Prince backstage to have a good show. He got that rhetoric from Prince. Never tell me to have a good show is what how told him.
Did you notice his pick-up configuration on his “Strat”? It’s outfitted with a EMG 85 in the bridge and an EMG SA in the neck, and topped off with a Floyd Rose trem.
Friends my latest Prince Reaction video to America 1985 has been blocked. This happened with my Stevie Ray Vaughan Texas Flood Live at the El Mocambo reaction video. Should I start a Vimeo channel and upload my blocked videos there?
Just wanted to share a couple things... 1. Prince always told his band members to put in the same effort whether they were playing for 80,000 or just 8. You can truly see that work ethic and connection to the music in every performance. I also have a clip to share with you where Prince is talking about that feeling of transcendence at a show at Paisley Park in November of 2015: drive.google.com/file/d/1XnpKZZ4nxtxkmVmRi3y_C-FFlc__c5d9/view?usp=sharing 2. We had a few of those moments when I played in the pep band in high school. Our director would make us do these exercises during rehearsals where we would all close our eyes and have to breathe together and start playing at the same time. We did it over and over again until we were all in tune with each other mentally and all started playing at the same time, and there were probably 60 of us in that band. That was probably one of the best bands I've ever played in. Our basketball team won the state championship every year I was in high school, so we played a lot at the Target Center in Downtown Minneapolis. And there was an article after one of the games where the journalist said our pep band was better than any of the division I university bands they'd ever seen, and I believe they specifically mentioned Duke University and us being better than their pep band. Anyway...I think those exercises of breathing together made us an amazing band, and we had a few of those transcendental moments. I think one of them was during a rehearsal when we were playing "Hell" by Squirrel Nut Zippers, and that's still one of my favorite songs to play.
Actually the Montreux 2009 Shows with John Blackwell, Rhonda Smith, Morris Hayes, and Renato Neto were really special because of the emotional state prince was in at that time. Just before the shows were scheduled Michael Jackson passed. Prince was devastated and postponed the shows. When he was ready to perform, he wore that red suit probably in respect to MJ's Thriller look. Tavis Smiley, the renowned journalist was there at the show. After the show, Prince and Tavis went to Prince's suite that faced the mountians and the huge Lake. At midnight both went out into the balcony and sat there 'til the sun came up, talking just how great MJ was, Tavis said that Prince had to put his sorrow out of his system and wanted to talk. So, I believe the song Empty Room might have meant something different to him that night. After MJ's passing the room felt empty and he knew only he could fill it. That is purely my analogy.
Another one you will love is the SNL 40th Anniversary after party video, where he plays live impromptu and kills it…shortly before he passed, so it’s special. ☔️💜 (and also check out Jimmy Fallon‘s description of that night).
He played every genre of music. Why he fought with WB was partially because he wanted his Masters and rightly so as it is his intellectual property but also because they wouldn’t allow him to release as often as he was producing music. They though he would flood the market.
Feel that Prince was really feeling this song. When I researched this piece he was distraught over how Michael died. But you can really feel this song. By the way he could of be channeling a lost woman also. Imagine being in the AUDIENCE.

The guy on keyboard is Renato Neto , Rhonda Smith on bass and the late great John Blackwell on drums. These are actually two songs the first is Empty Room the second is Elixer, you’re absolutely correct Prince is next level.
John Blackwell! Yes they are all amazing. So sad to hear of his deal, it may have you who told me about it. I researched it. So sad.
prince was one of the best composers in modern music history...jazz / rock in a glimpse of your eye.... he was a hell of pianist more than guitar
I will definitely check out more of his piano playing. I'm really enjoying this. :)
😳 oh wow that explains it for sure!
My number one all-time Prince performance.
It doesn't get any better than this.
Thanks for that. That whole show was genius. He seemed to be in zone even more than usual and the audience was totally into it.
I'm going to check more of it out for sure! I'm really enjoying it.
Thank you so much Bert!
I saw Prince many times. He is next level here for sure. He was on fire for those shows. And he didn’t play Empty Room often.
What was your favourite live show you saw of him? When/where? :)
Boy, he was really in a league of his own; the more I listen to his music, the more I realise...
Glad you enjoyed - there's so much more to experience.
I'm sure enjoying the ride that's for sure Tony :)
Imagine a guy who could play like he could, and NOT being known as a guitarist by so many guitar fans...tells u he always saw the big picture....not just soloing just to solo
Spot on
Absolutely Wanda! Saved and noted for my next video shoot :)
Always smooth always calm. Beautiful
He's THEEEEEEE BEST!!!
I could see something more was going on in this one for sure!

I'll check it out!
Many Prince songs and performances take you on a ride. Great reaction.
Thank you Scott! :)
Thank you my friend for pointing out the next level thing. I'm happy that the world can see the gift Prince had live especially with his guitar playing. You're a true musician to recognize that. Thank you for this reaction video.
Thank you so much this meant a lot to me :)
The piano is his favourite instrument and he is magic.
Magic = Prince for sure!
I've never heard that before! Thank you so much for sharing and reacting to it. I was lucky enough to see Prince in concert in '85 (purple rain tour), and in '88 (lovesexy tour). He was transcendent!
That is awesome Tony! What venues did you see him at?
I find every version of this so stunning… even therapeutic each time I listen to it.

keep them Prince vid's comming!
even got hanging around 4 Elixer, wauw. this was the first time He played that song live.
Wow you’re going deep into the catalog he rarely played this at any of his shows. You should check out the entire show it’s simply amazing.
If you recommend it I absolutely will Julian! :) BTW are you related to Pete?

Yippi...found another reaction to Prince from you...Thanks!
OH GOD!!!! He is so missed...
Prince always gave everything he could to the stage. The raw emotions he gave, in his voice...in his music. There will never be anyone like him again. I have been a fan since the release of the album Controversy( says a bit of my age😆) and I have never been disappointed.
More on the way Mia! :) Are you Swedish?
@@YesYouCANPlayGuitar Yes I am!😁🇸🇪
As a dude, I wish he’d impress me more than the chicks.
lol. Love your posts Dan!

Regarding any of the other movies after Purple Rain : beware. They don’t get any better.
(I don’t include Sign O the Times in that ‘cos it’s more of a concert than movie. If you can get a copy of Sign O the Times to watch then figure it is only 2 years since the Purple Rain tour ended when that footage was put down.
Simply the very best all round musician of our time. Nothing prince can't do.
Damn right Will! :)

Oh, he took me on ride....for sure!! PRINCE is so transcending. He is amazing. A genius. One of a kind.
I could watch this 24/7 it’s just almost spiritual! Just jaw dropping 💜 just genius 💜
Some of Prince’s best concert performances when recorded outside of the United States. United Statians always wanted him to stick with Purple Rain. And by the way, the pianist is the one and only Renato Neto!
Amazing keyboardist. I wonder if he preferred touring in Europe?
The covers he did were also songs he made his own with the arrangements. Many artists have commented that he was the finest arranger ever. I have been listening to his cover of Brian Ferry’s “ More than This”. It is wonderful and in his own unique range. He was one of only 6 people in the world with the largest vocal range of octaves. He wrote ‘ It took me five women to get over you’. for Joe Cocker. I think that is a great song. ( may have the title a little jumbled) He wrote and gave the songs to many artists.
Great post as always Margi! I'm surprised he gave songs to people and didn't charge anything.....
This is one of Prince’s best bands ever… Renato Neto, John Blackwell, Rhonda Smith
I agree, they kick ass!
Have you seen the 2nd show footage from 09 ? See his cover of Spanish Castle Magic, followed by When U Were Mine. He ends the show with a very electric guitar version of Purple Rain- incredibly fresh.
I'm definitely going to check that out!
PS: I have seen Prince in different countries but I have never seen him so much epic than in the solo of Purple Rain in Milan 2010.
Awesome! I'm going to check to see if there is any video of that!

Thank you so much Pat! I will check out your suggestion for sure! Yes tinnitus sucks, always there ringing away!
Keep it coming with Prince. His live acoustic set next please.
For sure Manny! Great suggestion! :)
If you have a chance to go to Minneapolis you have to check out the Paisley Park VIP tour it’s great!!!
I've seen many videos on PP, I would LOVE to do that once the world returns to normal!
Do you think you will ever get to go to Paisley Park Margi?
Prince ALWAYS showcased his band and ALWAYS had female musicians with him. If you have the opportunity will you react to Prince with his female group “Third eye girl” and the song was a a short clip of their rehearsal for “plectrumelectrum” which was rehearsed at his home/studio “Paisley Park “💜😃
For you absolutely I will do this!

I have saved that video and will be checking it out soon! Thank you so much :)
Where can one obtain these books Margi?
You can purchase the books at any good bookstore. I am hoping he is doing 1986 - 1987 next. The books are copied from his working diaries and recording records and many interviews of band members. Very interesting. Enjoy.
Great reaction once again sir!!
Thanks ED 🎸🎶😊
It is said that he wrote this song about Suzanna Melvoin - who she says that they were engaged to be married and broke up. She is also the twin sister of Wendy-his guitarist in The Revolution. he also wrote If I Was Your Girlfriend about her as well.
I am a big fan of Wendy's now, not the hamburger joint (although it is quite good too) but Melvoin, the guitarist in his band :)

Rhonda Smith on her Vektor bass gets me every time!
She is pretty awesome!
I did see that! lol. Pure awesomeness!
Ahhhh interesting, in the past I never would have thought of Prince and EMG pickups together. His tone was great!
His rendition of electric chair on saturday night live is great ...more rock than album version
The keyborad player is Renato Neto( may have spelling wrong) believe he is from Brazil
I hate to tell you this, but Prince was ALWAYS this good in his shows.

Just wanted to share a couple things...
1. Prince always told his band members to put in the same effort whether they were playing for 80,000 or just 8. You can truly see that work ethic and connection to the music in every performance. I also have a clip to share with you where Prince is talking about that feeling of transcendence at a show at Paisley Park in November of 2015: drive.google.com/file/d/1XnpKZZ4nxtxkmVmRi3y_C-FFlc__c5d9/view?usp=sharing
Prince had the greatest Guitar Face.....
Yessir less is more and the Tone is in Your hands
Another one you will love is the SNL 40th Anniversary after party video, where he plays live impromptu and kills it…shortly before he passed, so it’s special. ☔️💜 (and also check out Jimmy Fallon‘s description of that night).

He played every genre of music. Why he fought with WB was partially because he wanted his Masters and rightly so as it is his intellectual property but also because they wouldn’t allow him to release as often as he was producing music. They though he would flood the market.
There are many horror stories of famous bands and musicians and their record labels... that's for sure.
