I agree about it being a great equalizer. In my local shop the other day it was a truck driver,a former navy seal,a highway engineer, and 2 retirees. All enjoying a shared experience.
If more people actually saw videos like this, and we’re educated about the misconceptions of cigars, more people would smoke them. I’m a hairdresser and I talk to my clients about smoking scars all the time and their questions are all misconceptions that I have to correct in a very pleasant way. This was a great show. I really enjoyed it.
Mazz I freaking love you and the channel! You have taught me so much about Cigars! The problem with most of these misconceptions is everybody thinks they’re an expert on everything!
I really resonate with the “great equalizer”. In St. Louis, there’s a huge population of African American cigar smokers, and I’ve enjoyed an hour or two in a lounge with someone from a totally different background from my own on several occasions. We had great conversation and it probably wouldn’t have happened without that cigar.
Hey Mazz. Total newbie here! In fact, I've never purchased a cigar in my life, but I'm really enjoying your Cigar 101 playlist. I'll be in Vietnam in two weeks and will have the chance to visit Hanoi and Saigon. Both cities have a cigar shop called Habanos Specialist. It looks like they are fully stocked with Cubans and other cigars. Can you give me any guidelines on a couple of different newbie Cuban cigars?
It's more than taste, Anthony. A good cigar just puts you in the right place. Nothing seems to relax me like a cigar. You said one time to just relax and enjoy the smoke. That advice changed my point of view on cigars. Thanks for your great advice, Anthony.
If there's anything I've picked up, it's the passion for cigars..and oh before I forget, I love how my flame jumps up now during light up. Thanks Mazz😊
Being Canadian, and a premium cigar shop owner with unfettered access to Cubans, I still reach for a Dominican or Nicaraguan cigar 95% of the time. The flavour variations, to me, are superior to Cuban products.
100%. Us Canadians have access but still not worth their price points compared to what other regions are brining out. Cuban cigars are not the same no more 😢. Btw does your shop ship Canada wide ?
My wife and I love your outlook. We just came in from watching a hockey game, sitting by the fire pit in sweat clothes smoking a cigar with a cocktail. Keep it up! Smoke on!!!
I agree with you guys in anyone from all walks of life smoke cigars. I love smoking cigars and just starting getting into them recently. I chat with people that are wearing suits and I’m there in cargo pants and a hoodie and having a good conversation with them. The Cigar does really bring people together and I love it!
Greetings from Barbados. One of the top Chanel’s to watch. You gents know what you are talking about. Always look forward to new clips and always enjoy them. No BD. Damm straight Maz.
great great video! I always say its the worst to smoke a cigar in the cold! Love the comparisons throughout the video. I agree the people who say smoking only cubans are being sold short. In my exploration palettes are always changing and the new world cigars offer a range of different flavors to enjoy. Although I cant complain I would certainly like to try a cuban just to see what all the hype is.
Never thought about smoking cigars stumbled across your videos and MAZZ your videos are very informative it was easier for me to get started by watching your videos instead of trial by error started with Montecristo white series as well as Ashton classic. Keep up the amazing content and thank you Anthony!!!
I love this episode. Great job with the presentation. I hope this helps people in the industry and newbies, alike. On a personal note, I get 'cigar snob' jokes from my family, and it fives me a chuckle. Truthfully, there is no difference between dirt bikes, or playing the guitar as there is for this hobby. Everything from the conversations to the suits, and spirits is just a bonus, and I hope the stereo-typing ends one day. It was common for people to wear suits and dress themselves presentably less than 50 years ago, but a great deal of class has gone out the window in recent years. I love the message of this video, and I love the production quality, definitely above and beyond the curb at Holts. Keep up the good work!
Have you thought of shooting a video wearing regular attire outside when the weather gets better? Loving all the videos and the clips. Also received my order Monday. Very pleased
Anthony you are a superb representation for this company. Your videos are informative and you’re a good speaker and I always tell people to check this channel. Thanks for all the content it’s appreciated. Can you make a cool video on high end lighters and cutters ?! Thanks bro ps where do you get your suits haha
Thanks for addressing that misconception that women don't/shouldn't smoke cigars. I was introduced to premium cigars by my brother-in-law during COVID lockdown, and I've absolutely adored learning everything I can and developing my palate ever since. What a treasure trove of a world :) Cheers, friends!
That last one is funny to me. I'm by no means a high style guy. In a blue collar worker that likes a simple reward at the end of a hard days work. Cigars and bourbon are my choices. It's simple, peaceful, and I truly enjoy them. Love what you guys do. Thank you for making these videos. Anthony, I'm hoping to visit o e of your shops soon. Can't wait.
Love this topic. Well done on the video and explaining the big concepts. My rule of thumb is if you will be smoking the cigar within a month or so a ziplog and boveda will do well enough. If you are planning on going past that point id get a tubberware with good seal and put boveda pack with preferred humidity. If you are planning on aging cigars you will need a humidor. I get a lot of friends ask what to do when they come back with a box of cigars from vacation and I almost always lean on those solutions to those who do not want to invest in a humidor or do not have the budget/care for cigars and just bought because they have them from time to time.
Idk where the cigar snob image comes from. Anywhere I've smoked, I always meet chill people. You can smoke in your nice, 3-piece suit, or just in your backyard, inside your cigar tent with nothing but your boxers and socks.
From my experience every country that produces premium tobacco has amazing cigars I always tell people try everything and see what you like. You can't compare Cuban Dominican or Nicaraguan tobacco they are all different. Just like you can't compare a Pardon to a Fuente same thing goes with Cuban DR and Nicaraguan Cigars they all have a uniqueness to them. But point is try everything and see what you like:)
Hey Mazz have you guys considered offering a more exclusive or “Rare” type of Cigar of the Month Club Subscription? I do love the cigars I get from you guys in the subscription you already offer but the last two months has left me wanting more or exclusive etc
I really enjoyed this video. I was entranced to cigars at the Texas Renaissance Festival. I really enjoyed this video. You hit a lot of points that I see a lot. I live outside of Fort Campbell KY. My favorite local cigar shop/lounge is Screamig Eagle Cigars. When you talked about the great equalizer a cigar is, I have experience this at this lounge. I love your channel and look forward to more great videoo.
When I started out 4 months ago I was inhaling cigars. I thought my dad was full of crap when he said they’re enjoyed just on the palette and I didn’t understand why you’d smoke something that you couldn’t get a buzz off. Well, 3 or 4 cigars into making myself almost vomit and pass out I gave up. Started watching TH-cam videos on cigars including your channel, and now I get it. My palette is nowhere near developed, but I can taste differences and know what I like and what I dislike. PS: when it comes to Cubans, they’re overrated. I got into cigars for the Cubans and stick around for the My Fathers, San Cristobal’s, Perdomo, Padron, Olivia’s. It’s not just the price differences either, it’s the consistency differences. Thank you guys for this episode!
I'm really happy I stumbled onto this channel (and your online shop!) as I've gotten back into cigars. You guys have been an invaluable resource of information, reviews, etc. And you guys are 100% right about cigars being one of those wonderful great equalizers between folks. I'm a goofy, artsy-fartsy LGBTQ+ liberal, and I have a co-worker who is much more of a traditional, old-school business-oriented conservative... but when we found out we both have been getting into cigars, it immediately created an olive branch and got us chit-chatting and learning more about each other. Sometimes something as simple as a nice cigar can make two people see that they're more alike than different.
“The Great Equalizer” was my favourite segment here. I love cigars but often feel like my finances kinda excludes me from the club. It means a lot to hear you say that.
Another misconception is the cheap is no good and expensive is best. my every day smoke cost about three bucks per stick. They are a great cigar. I've also spent good money on a cigar and didn't like it at all.
Before I got into cigars, with smoking one a day or so and maintaining a few different humidors, I purchased a few cigars. I got home, put them in the cabinet above the stove and forgot about them for about a year. When I smoked them, they smoked fine... not saying that I recommend that. Just thought I'd share. P.S. my Wife got me a 500ct newair boveda electric humidor for our anniversary. I still keep cigars in the others.
Im fortunate and have Cubans readily available in my country 🇦🇺 But this being said Ashton, Oliva , RP, Davidoff are all equally as good imo amongst many other New World cigars. As you say Anthony it's all about personal taste.... I think though that it can't be said that any one Cigar brand is best. I think there is a top echelon of brands that cigar brands either fall within or not. Regarding being a Cigar Snob, I'd have to give a crap, Ive struck up some great conversations with people I would never have spoken to through the love of Cigars. Great video guys.... Stay Smokey...
Anthony love watching your channel while smoking a good stick. I've learned alot watching and have enjoyed this hobby for about a year now. You're my go to, thanks again. Be blessed
What the hell kind of troll is watching this channel? I am the guy in jeans and a hoodie, that is new to this luxury indulgence. I thank you for all I have gleaned from your videos. Keep up the great work!!
I love your videos! How many cigars do you enjoy in a day? Week? Total? I think I’m enjoying the quiet time and I tend to crave them more and more… Thanks
If someone wants to get into cigars, they just need to Google where the nearest cigar store is and go there. The Ashton Classic, which you have discussed, would be a great beginner cigar for them to get into it. If they don't like it, they don't have to smoke it. There are other options available that might suit them better.
Wait Mazz does not sleep in his suit?? That's unacceptable! 😂 Tbh, when there are people sitting in a lounge wearing a shirt with shorts and someone dressed to the moon there is a big chance the former thinks "Damn i wish i was wearing that" the dude might had a long day at work and no time to go home first. People should not worry so much about that.
I'm away from home for weeks at a time and will have the AC on 80. Would this cause an issue for my cigars? I plan to start buying more to keep on hand rather than just singles from the store. Planning to use the Boveda humidity bags for storage.
Thanks for the shout-out to women involved with cigars! I get gape-mouthed stared at sometimes while at stoplights when I'm smoking a cigar in my car, especially if I'm puffing a rubusto or larger. I even tend to gravitate to lanceros now mostly because its less conspicuous, more 'elegant' looking and I can enjoy a cigar in peace with my coffee on a city cruise. I really don't understand how this misconception has persisted, it's very 1950's lol. At any rate, thanks for making a point to call attention to the inclusivity of cigar smoking, and not just for women but for all walks of life.
Thanks, guys! I remember walking into my local shop on an event night, and the staff and fellow smokers were awesome in helping point me in a direction. And when asked my flavor profile I was NOT judged when I said "I don't know". I even won the raffle for the My Father's Ashtray. 😂 Been smoking for about 3 years now and it's a blast.
The snob misconception is actually what stopped me for a long time to try it. Im glad i discovered what a fantastic product cigars are, because my first cigar immediatly blew me away tastewise. As a pipe smoker i have to admit that the taste of a mild cigar is my favorite tobacco experience.
It's not necessary to remove anything on a cigar until you're ready to enjoy it. The cellophane, foot bands, paper bands, etc are all safe to leave on 👍
Cigars in refrigerator 😂😂😂😂been there did that😂😂😂. Yeah i did years ago when i started smoking, but then read a book on cigars and learned quick that it was no good.
The first time I went into a real cigar shop, one of the owners was the only person there. He walked me through all the little things to do that would make the time relaxing and enjoyable. The shop is gone now. But that sent me down the path of just taking my time, and enjoying the smoke.
I like to see people dressed formally or casual smoking cigars the most important thing is that everyone is ENJOYING their cigars,by the way I think the way you guys dress is cool and inspiring 👍
Cut, light, smoke, enjoy and tell my family not to bother me unless the house is burning down.
😂
Well said.
Even then...lmao
And smoke outside so they can’t blame you for the house burning down 🤷♂️
So right!!!
I agree about it being a great equalizer. In my local shop the other day it was a truck driver,a former navy seal,a highway engineer, and 2 retirees. All enjoying a shared experience.
This guy and his content is my favorite cigar aficionado... Thanks Brother, I will come to your shop when I'm on the East Coast soon.
Any time!

One of your best shows ever. Congratulations. Great job.
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you!
Best cigar content on the inner web..in the last yr since I've started smokin cigars, right here is where I go for any info. Thanks Mazz and Fach
I always laugh when people say cigar smokers are snobs. I love cigars, and I’m a blue collar warehouse worker.

I love watching these videos and hearing the occasional “Bleeeep” 😂

Love it! Thank you! Especially the part about women!!
I love the discussion on inclusivity, because I know that I personally felt that as somewhat of a barrier when I first got into cigars. Spot on, boys.

If someone wants to get into cigars, they just need to Google where the nearest cigar store is and go there. The Ashton Classic, which you have discussed, would be a great beginner cigar for them to get into it. If they don't like it, they don't have to smoke it. There are other options available that might suit them better.
Love this content, it should be all inclusive. We all good flavor amazing company, and awesome people. ❤

I agree with you on the Cuban mystique. For my pallette, I don’t enjoy the Cuban notes. They seem to “grassy” for me. I love spicy & sweet notes.
You are top class!
Thanks for the shout-out to women involved with cigars! I get gape-mouthed stared at sometimes while at stoplights when I'm smoking a cigar in my car, especially if I'm puffing a rubusto or larger. Cigars in refrigerator 😂😂😂😂been there did that😂😂😂. Yeah i did years ago when i started smoking, but then read a book on cigars and learned quick that it was no good.
Happens to a lot of newer smokers 😂
First smoke was a Tobacco Lords maduro lancero, always preferred the darker blends, they taste more smoky if that makes sense
The first time I went into a real cigar shop, one of the owners was the only person there. He walked me through all the little things to do that would make the time relaxing and enjoyable. The shop is gone now. But that sent me down the path of just taking my time, and enjoying the smoke.
So sad to hear about brad from zeal cigars, hes one of the reasons cigar popularity has grown so much again
Yep. Tnt days in 2018 got me into all this
Some of the full are a little strong, What would you suggest?
Look up our recent video "Top 5 Mellow Cigars"
Thank you. @@holtscigars
Mazz, you took it to another level with the topic on women and cigars. It's not that big a deal.
This show is about taking it to another level. 😅
I like to see people dressed formally or casual smoking cigars the most important thing is that everyone is ENJOYING their cigars,by the way I think the way you guys dress is cool and inspiring 👍
