You know the sorcery! Series got adapted into an app game if you ever want to try that out on your own time. It doesn’t have as much dice rolling but are pretty good.
Love watching you go through these. I never saw these game books, but definitely read the regular CYOA books a ton as a kid. These are just super fun to watch and make me wanna try.

At last, the books I know from this genre! I was able to pick up books 3 and 4 at my church's book sale when I was very young and it took years to track down the other two books. No internet and unable to drive made it very hard. I ran into every used bookstore my family came across for a long time. I loved playing them, but I never figured out the secret code in book 3 to 100% it. Even now I can remember the art of it and still don't understand the clue. This was delightful. Thanks gents.
Sunless Sea has a great food mechanic as well. You have crew, food, and fuel as your resources but when you run out of food you can start using crew instead.
This series is my fave of all the FF books. Unlike the rest of the series these were targeted to 'adult' audiences and published under Penguin rather than Puffin. I find that means there is a lot more unfairness than the books written by (Sir) Livingstone. Whilst some items are really needed in later books there is less of a 'shopping list' than in things like 'City of Thieves' or 'Port of Peril'.
My favourite of the Fighting Fantasy Series, though this is a bit of a slow start. You don't really have a "mission" in this book other than getting from A (Analland) to B (Bridgetown*) and it rather feels like that. Book 2 (Khare, City of Traps) doesn't have the same feel though as it's more of a den of scum and villainy. * OK, Khare, but it is the bridge across the river, which is why you go that way

Mainly because you get addressed as "The Analander" a lot in the final book (Crown of Kings), unless you managed a 100% completion of the 3rd Book (Seven Serpents), in which case your mission remains covert.
The Adam-Paul-Beej trifecta is the perfect group for these books!
