Can the royal jelly be stored, for grafting at a later time ?

What size needle were you using? Also have you mixed with distilled water before with success? I'd be concerned that the hypotonicity of distilled water would/could be an issue?

Mixing 1:1 distilled water to royal jelly is a common practice when grafting. It makes it a lot easier

+Steve Jackson I don’t remember what size it was. I’ll have to look when I get home. It was way to small though. As for the distilled water yes it works fine. You can also use saline. I really liked scooping the jelly out with the big end of the Grafting tool. That worked the best.

Sorry to butt in but based on the color of the hub it is a 22 Gauge; it would make your life easier if you can get your hands on some blunt niddles, those are 18G if I am not mistaken, way better on the inner lumen.Great work by the way.Dan

Daniel Pap Yeah I’m sure you are right. Definitely need a much bigger needle if you want to use a syringe.

I only know because my day job is in cardiology and deal with all those niddles on the daily bases.I am following you for a while now and I like what you are doing, keep up the good work.I picked up amateur beekeeping as a hobby to decompress from my stressful job when I come home and it helps to learn from selfless individuals like you the basics of this particular field. Thanks much.Dan

I've heard bees remove the royal jelly from beekeeper, then add their own.Is this true? I dry graft but always thought that u could be Sure they had enough food if you pumped it full and make some really good Queens. I heard it's only to make Grafting easier, but I think it would provide nutrition to nurse bees if nothing else

+Baddest Bees They do remove it. The main reason I prime them is because I have some yards that are a 15-20 minute drive from my cell builders and I don’t want them to dry out along the way.
