Highgarden, like the Reach and the Tyrell's were ruined by Dan and Dave after season 4. The Tyrell's are literally the strongest house in Westeros, they have all the resources, the armies, the love and respect of the people and one of the strongest castles, what happened in season 7 was just Dan and Dave rushing to get the show finished.

Agreed, would have loved to see the Tyrells and Dorne play a much bigger role but d&d were too dumb to do so.
They also had the budget to make Highgarden look amazing but they didn't.
Sad how they had to ruin the show by rushing it.

And what was up with casterly rock like it was supposed to be on a mountain 3 times bigger than the wall not a small hill ruffley around the sam height as highgarden

I had such high hopes for Highgarden and Casterly Rock and I was so disappointed how they represented them in season 7. I’ve seen much better rendering in some drawings on line
Highgarden is such an underrated castle, the show didn't reveal the beauty or do it justice.

Small things like castles in Got, can be made into whole videos. Just appreciating the amount of detail George r Martin took to make this world.

In GOT, Highgarden is Almodóvar del Río (Spain)
They should have used a French castle.
The Tyrells also intermarried 9 additional times into House Gardener after Robert Tyrell was wed to a Gardener daugther.
So did many other houses. House Florent etc
So modern day Tyrells are basically Gardeners with how intertvined they were?

Either the Florents of Brightwater keep, Oakhearts or Rowans since they are directly descended from House Gardener, as to the title of Warden of the South it's up to the Ruler of the Seven Kingdoms to decide

Did the director of the show even read the book.??? Highgarden did not look at all like it is described, and it was sacked so easily by the Lannisters which should not be possible at all.
When you write a book or draw a picture you can make it as cool as you want but when your making a show on a budget, you can only do so much.
Highgarden was rich and fed all Westeros and i wonder why they didn't build a city like the Lannisters
They already controlled Oldtown, second largest city in Westeros (largest before King's Landing) and wealthiest in the Reach with trade from all over the known world.

I thpught that the Tyrells were sgewards for the Targaryens, and they got Highgarden after the Gardeners were in war sgainst the Targaryens and losing.

The show did not do the most earthly beautiful castle in Westeros justice. The very castle looks like a part of the landscape. The World of Ice and Fire’s version is where it's at.

Technically, all westerosi are descendants of the first men. Most of the south houses simply have more andal blood than first men blood.

So who gets this castle in the show now? Can someone please tell me as the Tyrells, and Tarlys are dead, will the Hightowers get it?
In the show the Lannisters will probably take it, since they lost Casterly Rock and want future income from that land. If I were them I would marry the daughter of Randyll Tarley (who is still alive) to a Lannister cousin and make a new branch of House Lannister for the Reach.
CivilizationEx But are there any Lannisster cousins left, from what I heard in season 7 there aren't any cause Cersei said that they're the last Lannissters, the last ones that count, meaning Tyrion?
CivilizationEx I disagree, daenerys quite clearly has Highgarden now. The only house left in the Reach with true legitimacy over the fortress of Highgarden would be House Florent. As they have more blood ties to the Gardeners and therefore more of an entitlement over Highgarden. However it could be completely possible that this capital could be abandoned, later replaced with Oldtown. Until further clarification on the ruling families of the reach and clear history we can only speculate.
Alex Townsend I doubt this will be addressed in the show, all we can do is speculate thanks to the writers.
Daenerys has Highgarden? The dragon battle was on the road to king's landing not at highgarden, and there was nothing to indicate her army went there before the meeting in KL. House Florent has no presence on show so it's unlikely they will give it to someone the viewers haven't heard of, to me making a new House from the Tarly's makes the most sense.
