Ok so I totally forgot about the House Of Protection EP (I listened to this all as singles so never really clicked that it was an EP), as The Plot In You EPs (same reason), and somehow also forgot that While She Sleeps released an album this year 😅 though I think it may not have cracked my top 20 anyway.
UNPEOPLE!!!!!!!!!! so good. Cannot stop listening to it. Been following since download this year and discovered them because of you. So thank you. Really enjoy your videos 🤙🏼
Great list 👏 Happy to see Allt so high and I couldn’t agree more with your assessment of 156/Silence. That album has gotten in my nervous system too 😅🖤

Have discovered @156/Silence through your channel. "People watching" became immediately my favorite album of this year. it's so rich and interesting... Glad to see it ranked high for you too.
I was so thrilled to see how excited you are about 156/Silence album too. I’ve only discovered the band through this album on your channel a month ago and it’s been on repeat ever since. I can’t get enough of it, it’s absolutely brilliant. 😊 Another surprising one for me this year was Darko US, pleasantly heavy and catchy.
I appreciate your "subjective" rationale, and love your admission that favorites changes daily at times. I had a similar experience as your 156/Silence last year with Invent Animate's 'Heavener.' Everyone was hyped on it but it sounded mostly samesy to me. But I kept coming back to it and by mid Fall it was tied for favorite with TMBTE and dominated my Spotify Wrapped. In some ways those albums are the best. I hope you continue to give the BMTH album more plays because I think it's going to age really well--so so much of their back catalogue.
Dude! Just discovered your channel. We have very similar tastes. So glad you mentioned Avralize. They are grossly underrated. You listed a few I need to listen to. Cheers!
I know this isn't the *coolest* pick, but I genuinely LOVED the album from Siamese, "Elements". It's not metal, but there are so many unbelievably catchy bangers on that album.
My Top 5 This Year 5. Eviscerate - Eidola 4. Death Is Little More - Boundaries 3. a piece of me I never let you find - Cane Hill 2. The Cycles of Trying to Cope - LMTF 1. American Motorsports - Bilmuri

Why am I just hearing about Void of Vision? Great content Steve. Happy New year! My top 5: 5. The Day We Left Earth - Self Titled 4. Wage War - STIGMA (This album gets a lot of hate. Not sure why. Ahh well.) 3. Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows - Until God Shows 2. VOLA - Friend of a Phantom 1. TesseracT - War Of Being
I'm happy that you got my AOTY (Allt) in there but i'm shocked you didn't pick Boundaries (O:) still amazing picks, so much good metal this year. Thanks for letting me know about Cane Hill, that one keeps popping up on my playlist.
I'm surprised The Plot In You EPs weren't mentioned. I guess they are only 3 songs each so there's not much to go off of but so far every song is amazing. 😂
We both put Cane Hill at #7, but my #1 didn't even make your list. Enterprise Earth! And others in my Top 10: Daath, Gravemind, Future Palace, Ingested, Fleshgod Apocalypse. But that's OK. Different tastes. Your presentation was great. Loved the video. Cheers!!
I only discovered Sleep Token middle of this year (or shall i say last yr?), so haven't been listening to much of anything else, except for the ones you or other reactors explore..but i haven't really relistened to any of them, well except for Grinn and Unprocessed. Haha.
Only started listening to Bilmuri in October and American Motor Sports is my rock AOTY too. If I'd started listening when it first came out, no doubt it would have dominated my most listened to tracks also. Solid, incredibly fun album.
Geez louise @SteveOGRock, I feel like I've been living under a rock!! I've listened to only 5 or 6 of the albums that you mentioned, probably because I only started listening to metalcore this year. I'm currently digging Chaosbay's "Are You Afraid?" (not sure if it's metalcore or prog-core or some other core 😆). I'm looking forward to Architects "The Sky, the Earth & All Between" next year. So glad I found your YT page. Cheers! 🤘
Was about to throw down if Bilmuri wasn’t #1…. After following him for years I’m glad he’s really hit it big. Incredibly diverse and talented. As far as next year… keep an eye out for Mint Club - Slice Of Life 😉
Only 2 of your albums I hadn’t heard of but I’m going to check them out because your list is soooo close to mine. 156/silence is number 1. And Bilmuri is way down for me but great list. Still can’t get into Knocked Loose but will keep trying. House of Protection is fav EP. Cheers!!
EP of the year for me is the death and birth of an angel by fallingwithscissors its an AMAZING Metalcore project with a glitchy/y2k aesthetic highly recommend checking it out, it genuinely blew me away when I first heard it
I know you're not too into prog, but based off reliqa and vola you should definitely check out the EP from Artificial Language. Incredibly beautiful melodic prog with a lot of piano

I'm with you on Linkin Park. It's a solid album and better than I hoped but I'd describe it as the same as the "soft reboots" hollywood loves to do recently. It's good but safe and unremarkable, nothing that really hooks you because it doesn't try to push the edge. But I'm sure it was not an easy album to make after all the recent history so I'm hopeful for their next releases.
Okay before watching this, Im gonna guess your aoty is Bilmuri. I'm calling it now haha. Edit: LOL so obvious but for good reason. Also my AOTY. I don't know how many times I looped this album, and then the deluxe album, although Spotify tells me it was lots haha

A great list and some albums there I definitely need to check out!

Boundaries not making this list is criminal
Avralize and Cane Hill are fighting for my AOTY. A close competitor is Levels. SOO GOOD TOO!
Avralize definitely top 5 imo! These boyz came out of nowhere with a slapper of an album!
