A walk off the road to Achiltibuie, Scotland ... well worth a short walk !

  • This walk is off the A835 about 10 miles North of Ullapool, and along the single track road towards Achiltibui. I found this walk to be easy - even the hill climb part. Advice from "Jagarscot" is to sip water regularly and suck/chew on wine gums etc to aid energy levels. Also ryhdration gel++? In my younger days of Munro bagging i always walked without much fluids and i was always first to the top then ran down (believe it ir not!). This really worked. Despite my medicsl background I hadnt thought of these measures.....
For this shoot I again put on a 16 ND filter on my Mavic 3 drone and GoPro. I've followed advice from "Ted Nemeths" channel which is auto exposure and set in auto mode. I always set 30 fps and 4K. But using the anamorphic lens with my iphone 14 pro mac as a basic setting post processing the 4K is lost I think?
I've chosen to take my DJI Mavic 3. The more i use it the more i like it. Relatively expensive but is packed with software. I use the RC pro controller which is quite heavy but is quick to set up and get flying = well worth its purchase‼️
The Mavic 3 is really good for photos too - I have added a couple within my gallery at the end of this video. Also photos from the RAW images on my iphone 14 pro max.
Weight to carry is too much for me these fays; with the Mavic 3 and camera etc. I found it too heavy! So from now on I am being fruigal and selective to my kit in my bag.
Again I used the app OS maps app and constructed my route. 🥾as a marker of difficulty for this hike (but more like 🥾🥾🥾 for me on my teturn to Ullapool 🥱). My Garmin was on this occasion vital.

Magic James. Probably my favourite area in the highlands. Camped on Cul Beag and Beinn an Eoin. The camp on Eoin was one of my best. Can see the place is turning green now. Great relaxing video mate and thanks. Back and knee fine now. Fitting a new water heater in van, so hopefully get out soon. All the best.

I was a bit disappointed that the water logged ground stopped me in my 'tracks'. But there again I'd checked the area out on Google maps 3D and I got to where I wanted to for best all round view of the mountains. Very happy ✅ glad you are soon to get out again ..., ta for like ..

Cracking video, very cinematic. I do like the letterbox screen.. I don't have that on my software .. I think it really adds to the landscape video... The colours of the grass and gorse... Lovely.. excellent Sir... any thanks for the wishes.. almost back to my annoying self. 😅

Ta very much.... since I bought the Moment anamorphic lens for my phone and learned settings it's the way I like to produce it. It was really an easy weee walk. Stunning area.

    Very chilled now.
Bet the gorse perfume smelt amazing!
Always a treat when it's in flower across the Braids in Edinburgh.
Incidently Beinn Eoin. Suspect has an Irish gaelic connection?
Irish buddy at work named Eoin, pronouned 'Owen' in Ireland.
Curious to know if similar sounding in old Scots?
