Chris Harris deserves the great Karma that he obviously has. He's a great driver, which goes without saying, but he's so damned smart, too. Some racing drivers may go faster, but none can tell us the story better. And since the likelihood of our ever getting to do this experience is about less than zero, well, this is "as good as it gets!" Thanks, sir!
"Now there are truly worse ways to spend an afternoon, I have an Audi R8 LMS Ultra and the Nürburgring Grand Prix circuit, to myself." The words that escaped my lips: "Oh fuck you, Chris"
Well done to Chris and to the DRIVE team. Great commentary from Chris as always, this time particularly communicating his desire for the Ultra. The DRIVE production team have those "car porn" shots down pat now.
.. that is an amazing idea. Giving Chris a seat for a season in the VLN series. That could make some great onboard footage and commentary. I'm sure there are more people that feel that way.
I absolutely cannot imagine a better job then that of Chris Harris' and the rest of the Drive Cast. Someday very soon I hope somehow someway to be given the opportunity to do what they do. My absolute sole dream.
ANOTHER MASTERPIECE!! /Chris, for us simracers, would you be interested doing a discussion between a real car of your choice that's available in Gran Turismo, Forza, SimRaceway, iRacing and etc, and tell us how they feel relative to the real car? Perhaps a time-attack challenge+discussion combo with Lucas Ordonez or any of the GT Academy grads?
Anyone know what the huge duct was inside the cabin? Cooling? They might have a duct that runs from the back all the way to the front to pipe in engine noise to remind you that you are driving a glorious v10!
Chris and Drive, Thanks for another awesome video! Please, please do a follow up of this one, except please do it on a dry track so you can get the most performance out of the two cars as possible, and please make it at least twice as long. I'd love to hear a detailed explanation of how the two cars are different and it would be awesome to see some empirical data on performance (corner speed, braking, acceleration, top speed in particular sections, etc.). Your video offers a fascinating comparison of something about which I've always wondered, but it just leaves me wanting more, more, more! Please!!! :-) p.s. The follow up doesn't have to be with Audi. Porsche, Ferrari, even Corvette would be just fine...
GT3 is very nice because there are many different race cars made by the most important producers in the world. I wish there was a pure GT3 championship with the best drivers avalaible and not a mixture of professional and semi-professional drivers.
Would LOVE to see Chris take some of the older Group C cars to the ring. Jag XJR-9, Allard J2X, Toyota 88C-V, Porsche 962, Mazda 787B, Sauber C9, Nissan R92CP, Lola T92/10, Lancia LC2. As well as some early LMP's like the TS020 (GT-ONE), Bentley Speed 8, etc., etc. But NO rain though Chris...you gotta leave that at the house.
No, they are super unreliable. I work at a Porsche dealer and we used to have some Audi techs that worked in our shop since theirs was full. They were replacing piston rings and engines left and right in the 2.0t. Probably 4 a week. The 07 S4 is much better as long as the timing chain doesn't give you issues.
Chain has been fine, the headlights are another story though, god that took forever to fix, just told them to get the ballasts and bulbs instead of messing around with the computer which just said that everything was fine.
Oh, were the headlights flickering? If so, the fix it to replace bulbs and igniters... I hate it when dealers try to give customers the run around because they don't want to run up their warranty costs.
Awesome as usual! It's cool to watch this and recognize the track...buy from playing Gran Turismo...obviously there's no comparison though. Ace work Drive team.
I would be very interested to see both on dry track both with the same tyres (both racing tyres then both road tyres) and compare those times if Audi would let you!
I love the music on these videos. You guys really need to give us some way to follow the soundtrack you use in these videos, maybe list the songs used in the video description or something?
Since tires are such a limiting factor, it would be cool to see how the road car performs with proper racing tires on them. That is something I am very curious to see. It could kind of act like a sequel to one of Chris' first videos where he put "donut" spare tires on a C63.
what is the gt3 spec ? all racecars uses their own engine block from road going car with limited hp and rwd ? i mean porsche uses flat6, sls v8 and audi v10 ??
Very nice cinematic depth of field going on but there should be a balance between cinematics and being able to see the beeeeautiful nurburgring background
Hey /DRIVE!! I was wondering what lenses you use in your most common shots. You have GoPros, obviously, but often times you have DSLR shots both mounted on the hood, or inside the cabin for the main commentary angle. What lenses and mounts do you use to achieve these shots? If you would prefer a private message or email, let me know. Thanks!
why so little footage from the drivers perspective? and where are the lap times so we can see the performance difference between the two cars like Chris said he wanted us to?
Mr Harris and his team giving us yet another well made and enjoyable free film... Thank you!

"Now there are truly worse ways to spend an afternoon, I have an Audi R8 LMS Ultra and the Nürburgring Grand Prix circuit, to myself."
The words that escaped my lips: "Oh fuck you, Chris"
Yes!! the first good review of 2014... nice one Chris.. Love this!!
Spot on... Got a bit nervous there when you put Chris in an electric car a few weeks back.
Chris really needs his own TV show. I would watch the hell out of that.
Finally, some real quality stuff instead of those dreary superficial reviews.
Loved the logo on the sleeve with the pistons and the smile at 1:18
I've gotta like the video based on production alone...looks sweet!
Another beautifully edited video guys! LOVE the sound editing between cars once again. Brilliant!
Love the V10 sound.. something very special.
Well done to Chris and to the DRIVE team.
Great commentary from Chris as always, this time particularly communicating his desire for the Ultra.
The DRIVE production team have those "car porn" shots down pat now.
gotta love a good audi!
This video is so awesome! Audi forever.
5:08 /Drive Intro I found it.
This is the new record distance holder for the 24 hour Nurburgring race! Congrats to Audi.
The filmography is truly something special.
A signing petition for letting Chris drive this at Daytona, could it work!? :D
This Chris Harris fella is the best automotive journalist in this modern era, brilliant chap
Yes, please schedule another go at it in Daytona on a dry track. Would love to see how the LMS Ultra running at 9/10ths+!
.. that is an amazing idea. Giving Chris a seat for a season in the VLN series. That could make some great onboard footage and commentary. I'm sure there are more people that feel that way.
Just press "like" you wont regret.
i regret it :(
Thanks, love the R8!
Best Motoring Journalist by far. Thank you Chris Harris.
I have loved this car for a while. Great driving Chris!
It’s delicious...lol Love the terms Chris use to express his experience while driving. He really makes you smile when he talks about cars
Finally ;) That´s the type of videos I enjoy. It only lacked the direct comparison, but I guess that´s for Daytona ;)
Great vid as usual. This had to be a real treat!
I absolutely cannot imagine a better job then that of Chris Harris' and the rest of the Drive Cast. Someday very soon I hope somehow someway to be given the opportunity to do what they do. My absolute sole dream.
I sound like a broken record, but I have to say this again; this is the best car content being made today.
Yet another excellent vid!
You have the talent to be a racing driver Mr Harris, there is no doubting that.
Awesome video as always Chris.
ANOTHER MASTERPIECE!! /Chris, for us simracers, would you be interested doing a discussion between a real car of your choice that's available in Gran Turismo, Forza, SimRaceway, iRacing and etc, and tell us how they feel relative to the real car? BBC give this man a spot on Top Gear!
Great video! Love the downshift on the R8 Ultra! #drawdroppinglyawesome
Chris needs to drive the Audi R18 LMP1. Would love to hear his thoughts on that beast of a car...
When you saw one of them at the ring in real live you have no other choice than to be a fan of it ^^
Love the R8 LMS
One of the luckiest man in the world is Chris Harris. Honestly a dream job. Its sad that I'm to old to start this.
could watch this for days...!
Why dont you guys upload the uncut footage?
O man! The feeling I ger when I see that there's a new drive video with chris harris!
finally a new Chris Harris video!
Where did that near 8 minutes go? Another great film by the Drive guys!
That V10 sounds incredible!
If anyone knows what music it is at 0:42 please tell me, it sounds lovely in combination with the car sights
Shazam it to establish if it is stock video backing music(which wont show up in shazam) - or a published track
Anyone know what the huge duct was inside the cabin? Cooling? They might have a duct that runs from the back all the way to the front to pipe in engine noise to remind you that you are driving a glorious v10!

Thank god! I was starting to go into Chris Harris on Cars withdrawal.
What a badass looking car.
i cant believe i've become so used to seeing basic safety gear in track cars i notice the lack of HANS device. even so beautiful video.
GT3 is very nice because there are many different race cars made by the most important producers in the world. I wish there was a pure GT3 championship with the best drivers avalaible and not a mixture of professional and semi-professional drivers.
0303riccardo yeah that would be awsome
More race cars like this please!
That thing looks wicked. Thumbs up
Would LOVE to see Chris take some of the older Group C cars to the ring. Jag XJR-9, Allard J2X, Toyota 88C-V, Porsche 962, Mazda 787B, Sauber C9, Nissan R92CP, Lola T92/10, Lancia LC2. keep it up chris, always look forward to one of these.
As always, Chris delivers!
Excellent vid
i love how that diffuser rips the water from the road
My dad and I both have Audi's. Simply wonderful cars.
You obviously don't have one with the 2.0T then.
Your right I don't. Do they feel super under powered? I'm in an 07 S4.

Surprisingly short on detail for a Chris Harris video, but then he has set the bar to a whole new level.
I would be very interested to see both on dry track both with the same tyres (both racing tyres then both road tyres) and compare those times if Audi would let you!
It sounds just so * great, nice and what a job you have Chris
Holy fuck that high beep, it destroys me
great videos chris, more please ;-)
If he didn't like cars so much...and if I didn't follow GT3 so religiously...I'd say he's got the eyes of a serial killer :D
I love the music on these videos. You guys really need to give us some way to follow the soundtrack you use in these videos, maybe list the songs used in the video description or something?
Yes! I hate it when no tracklist is given out.
I would like a tube sticking out from the AC vent.. where can I get that? :P
same matt blue R8 from light room at end of Leo Parente's "how to a build a R8" video?
whats the chances
Since tires are such a limiting factor, it would be cool to see how the road car performs with proper racing tires on them. That is something I am very curious to see. It could kind of act like a sequel to one of Chris' first videos where he put "donut" spare tires on a C63.
Wow! Something really special!
new gear or new post production technique? it's awesome. also the r8 is. you need to drive an sls gt3 now!
Is that air vent really necessary?? And why must it rain for all the cool tests??
Chris Harris - you are living the dream, good sir!
I have always wondered..why are the headlights a yellowish color?
Is the GT3 car AWD or do they have to make it RWD for the GT3 class?
RWD, they strip out the front drivetrain
mostly to save extra weight i guess
AnCIEnTerlein Regulations
what is the gt3 spec ? all racecars uses their own engine block from road going car with limited hp and rwd ? i mean porsche uses flat6, sls v8 and audi v10 ??
AHHH whats the orchestral music at the beginning??
love the track!
I remember when one of these cars came to our car show
What is that big tube sticking out of the dash at about 2:38?
shbly zaher , that's the only thing I could think of too
Very nice cinematic depth of field going on but there should be a balance between cinematics and being able to see the beeeeautiful nurburgring background
My Wednesdays are back! LOL! WB Chris Harris!
brilliant, was thinking it must be due, its 8PM :D
Please mention the difference in time over a lap.
The best looking R8 sports car Audi's built in my opinion
Chris Harris hath been crowned...the new Jeremy Clarkson.
Resembles the bugatti veyron at 7:10
Hey /DRIVE!! I was wondering what lenses you use in your most common shots. The sound from 5:13 is extremely reconized
,
Is that Daytona line a hint? :P
Great video. The audio has some high frequency noises though.
yes another dream car
I'm surprised the race car's LED's aren't yellow like the headlights are.
Anyway, awesome video
why so little footage from the drivers perspective? and where are the lap times so we can see the performance difference between the two cars like Chris said he wanted us to?
So two R8's, one of the best tracks in Europe and you get paid to do this. What an awful job!
Next week on Drive, Chris Harris goes to Daytona with an Audi R8 LMS lol
I'll have both, thank you
