- LET'S TALK ABOUT THE FOOD ON THE SUN PRINCESS.
So if I had describe the food onboaed the Sun Princess in one word it would be, VANTASTIC. I've tried a couple specialty dining, main dining and room service. I must say, color me impressed with both the food and the service.

A huge shout out to princess for moving the Lido buffet. One of my pet peeves has always been how hot The buffet is because the doors are always open to the outside, with the buffet on a lower level. That problem is solved.😅
We loved all of the food on the Sun Princess. Our favorite spot was the American Diner with their expanded hours and breakfast whenever you want. Also I'm convinced the Sun has the best pizza at sea.
Sounds like we should only pack pants with elastic waist bands. This makes me so happy 😊
I think the best room service item on Princess is the CLUB SANDWICH GREAT if you like a cold sandwich

Don, I think I’m in trouble for my Sun Princess cruise on April 17! We’ve planned to try the food in our ports for lunch. Don’t know if I can handle a big dinner as well! Glad your report on the food on board is so positive. I may have to save some room for those specialty restaurants after all. 😊

Cold Scrambled Eggs are the norm on cruise buffets...why? This is one major improvement that should be implemented.
I have sailed Princess a few times, my last cruise was on the Sapphire Princess, the FOOD was horrible! On previous Princess cruises the food was OK, I haven't been on a Princess cruise since 2019. I also follow JJ Cruises. If JJ gives the Sun Princess a good review as you have, I will book the Sun Princess, Thanks for your honest review.
I also have sailed on Princess many times, and the food has always been exceptionally good, one of the reasons I sail Princess. Except my last cruise, which was also on the Sapphire Princess. The food was HORRIBLE. It was like the head chef had never acquainted him/herself with tastes in the western world--or eastern--european--who knows? All I know is that the food, on a fifteen-day round trip cruise to Hawaii, was downright terrible.

All the food sounds amazing. I'd like hear your take on the buffet and the free food. Spell bound sounds super fun. We are excited to see and hear about that for sure.
I wonder if they (Princess) are spending more on the food during the first couple cruises like RCCL did with the Icon launch? Glad it tastes good through, I always liked Princess food.

Great news about the food service. I hope this continues and is not just for the first few months.
Don, I have to say the food on Princess has been consistently very good, which is why they are my favorite line when it comes to R&R. I've never been disappointed since my first sailing with them in 1994. Good food and a good bed are my priorities. And live music. And great staff...and their 8-9 flavors of freshly made ice-cream. And great price point. Thanks for sharing your impressions.
I like saki, too. Warm or cold depends on the saki. I have had it with peach liquor added and also Chambord added, and that's okay.

Don, do you think they break out all the best food since, there are vloggers, bloggers, and journalists aboard? This way maybe it seems better than what the "normal" passenger would get?

I just hot off Discovery Princess. The Catch food was fabulous. Service was outstanding. Highly recommend it.

Hey Don good info on the specialty dining options, I'm one that eat at the specialty restaurants and very seldom go to the buffet and never go to the main dining room.
I have afuuny feeling when special cruises will slowly reduce the quality of the foods and price will rise for speciality restaurants. Same as RCC

Don, I rarely comment on anything, positive or negative.
My wife and I just got off Carnival Valor and the food was the worst we’ve had in 10 cruises.
We are about to reach Platinum and am excited about that but are concerned we’ve hitched our wagon to a diminishing value/service level cruise line…..thoughts….
The dining room was so bad we spent the money and ate in steakhouse 3 out of 5 nights.
Eat at the Catch by Rudi....you will not be disappointed even if you think you know what it is from past experiences
Do you think the new ships have better food to gain the a reputation of great food and then they start pulling back pulling back on quality and variety after awhile. I think when the press is their for their cruises the quality is definitely top notch, so not counting that.
Not a foodie myself but can appreciate the wonderful choices
I had the best bacon on Sky Princess and the paid for coffee was excellent the free coffee was revolting MDR was very good

Having said that, I have continually wondered how many Japanese people might feel, a little bit offended by your pronunciation of the word teppanyaki. I guess being Canadian would account for the pronounciation you render, tapanaki, lol.

Do you think that the food is just good because Princess wanted to leave a good impression during the first set of inaugural cruises or will this be the norm going forward?
Being it's the first sailing with media, I hope the food and service stays the same. Hope all is the same 4,5 months down the road.

Sounds wonderful. The main dining room on Norwegian in February was not good at all. I hzvsnever seen so many people send dinners back

Hi Don, we are on Celebrity Infinity in Piraeus with you (on Sun Princess) today. Why is Sun Princess flying the British Red ensign and not the Burmudian ensign?

On our last Princess cruise, right before Covid, the dining room food was not good. The Crown Grill and Sabatini’s were very good, as was the International Cafe. The included food in the dining room and buffet were sub par. You appear to be dining in specialty restaurants. If you pay extra, you will get good food.
The food on our 30 day Majestic Princess was very sub par. Elite cruisers.
I'll take a Hamburger over a hot dog any day.
