I was at Warley on Saturday and yes Bron Hebog was a standout layout that I wanted to see. Glad I got to see it at least once before the chaps retire the layout, although I am interested in their next project
Superb video as always! One of the things that always stands out on Castle (ironically in this instance granted) is just how good the track work looks, sure I read somewhere that it’s all handbuilt but always looks a cut above
Yes I agree, and I love the colours used on the layout. It’s a shame to see the issues with running, but I guess that’ll happen going to different halls etc
Hello@@GWilliamsonModels , I have just found your footage of Warley and of Castle Caereinion in particular. None is more disappointed with the running as myself (owner and builder) as the layout had proven it self over several years to be reliable. The track work is all hand built using code 40 rail, and for the most part, held together with impact adhesive, an idea borrowed from modellers in Canada and the USA. Over this weekend for the first time I had an issue with rail expansion that has resulted in my lifting a turnout and am now in the process of of rebuilding it. Hopefully, this will resolve the issue as I am putting in a couple of extra fishplated joints in rather than a full length of rail with a turnout halfway along. Once again to everyone, apologies for the bad running on this occasion, lesson learned and hopefully, more reliable for the future. :)
@@martynharrison153 no need to apologise Martyn, Alec was manning it as I filmed and was explaining the issues. I’ve seen the layout run well so gathered the environment played a negative effect on it. Saying that, I generally think the scenics are fantastic, I love the colour palette used. The W&L is my local line, so I take great pleasure watching layouts like this one!
Sadly I had to miss Warley this year, thanks for sharing the clips. This project sounds like a much better idea for Christmas. Loved the video and the humour, looking forward to seeing the progress. I am sure my son will be getting some ideas from this as he always likes to put together a small layout for Christmas.
couple of things: a correction and a suggestion. Since you happily draw attention to minor defects in others' layouts, may I just remind you that in Welsh, /u/ is pronounced /i/ or /ee/ - so Modelu is said 'Modelee'! My suggestion is regarding cutting ply with a jigsaw - when you have marked your cut lines cover them with tape and re-mark - the tape will prevent splintering and you will have a nice clean edge
Thanks for the suggestions, yes I must say my Welsh isn’t great atall, so I appreciate the correction. Thanks for the tip with the jigsaw, I’ll use that going forward
Quick note to say the caption has a typo - Bron not Bryn Hebog. Suspect autocorrect fail?!? Love the modelu scan concept, however the scan prices were eye-watering.
Yes you’re right, auto-correct did me dirty! But yeah, it’s not an easy price to swallow, but it was the only thing I bought there, so that’s ok in my books!
I think the price is incredibly cheap given how much effort is needed behind the scenes to prepare the scans for manufacture, plus Alan has to recoup the investment!
Well done for being brave and sharing observations on other people's layouts George. As for cutting ply....ask FC for a plunge saw for Xmas. You will never look back! Cutting wood with a factory finish cut will be within your grasp. You will of course have to be a good boy else it may not be dropped down yoru chimney! This looks a great build project. Looking forward to seeing progress
I’m not.. I’m doing it on the best dining room table, the oak floor..AND the marble island 😂 In my defence, I made that dining table, so it’s ok if I break it again
That was a lovely selection of layouts at Warley! And this new project is already shaping up nicely - in the time you have built two layouts and a diorama I’ve built nothing :)
Excellent video as usual with a usual smattering of humour, spot on 😊 I enjoyed your review of the layouts at Warley especially with the commentary giving your views. So many youtube show reports just show the layouts with the exhibition noise as a background which quite frankly is just dull. Nice one.
@@GWilliamsonModels if you don't want comments on your work don't put yourself out there, that's my view. Especially if they are just an opinion not a criticism.
Awesome video as always and the humour is always great loved hearing your opinions on other peoples layouts really shows your keen eye for detail till next week ✌️
Why the need to criticize every layout you looked at at the show? Perhaps, it might be better to let your viewers make their own decisions on the quality of the layouts. It detracts from an otherwise excellent video.
It’s my opinions, I clearly state that, and a lot of people appreciate honest opinions. It’s fine if you don’t agree, but I don’t agree with feedback having to be artificially positive all of the time. We learn from positive and negative comments
I disagree, with Russ’s comment - I think it’s good to hear your thoughts as it helps us get to know a wider part of you and a glimpse of why perhaps you do things the way you do…

Bron Hebog really is such a great layout, the reliability alone is quite special, and the hand built stock..and the sheer size of the landscape

If your son gets ideas from my videos, then I’ve done my job ❤️
another beautiful video mate and glad to see you infront of the camera and those narrow gauge layouts are incredible
Thanks, yes I thought it was about time I showed my face around here!
That ability to become a figure in your own railway is intimidating, but quite neat to see interested to see were this layout goes!
You must have a very tolerant family, my wife wouldn’t entertain a layout on a bookshelf 😂😂😂
Tbf she’s running out of patience now the trains are seeping into the house 😂
What a novel way to make a face reveal! And I really enjoyed the wider scope of this video :)
Glad you enjoyed it! I want to appear more too be honest, I think it makes the videos a bit more friendly

@@JamesHiltonCustomModelRailways you also get two figures in with the price, which I guess would be £7-8
It was you who I saw getting scanned while I was buying a crew for my Princess. Had I known it was you I would have said hi! 😅
Maybe next time!

I’ve not heard of a FC, I’ll be looking into that now! I’m pretty sure I’ve been good this year..well, on paper
@GWilliamsonModels Aha...well if you've not heard of Father Christmas...then evidently you needed to behave better !!!
@@gs425 I misread that as ‘ask for an FC cutter’ 😂 makes sense why I couldn’t find anything on google for that!
Hahahaha as always you've made me laugh. Yes FC. none of that American driven santa nonsense here lol
I could watch this L hape over and over.....how fantastic..
Glad you like it
Damnnnn that jump suit 😏
Glad you noticed 😘
Great video as usual. Loved seeing the layouts at the Warley show. Also reassuring to see my chosen method of baseboard construction alive and well.
If the method works, why change it?!
George tell.me....are you really doing this build on your best dining room table and oak floor??? You must be single !!! 😂
