This was the first colour-ish video of the band from director Anton Corbijn. Personal Jesus finds the Mode on a ranch in the Tabernas Desert of Almería, in Spain. DM are soon tempted by a bevvy of beautiful women and it’s suggested that the ranch is a brothel. MTV were so appalled by this insinuation that they elected to edit out some of Martin Gore’s more suggestive mouth movements during the bridge and replaced them with cut footage from the video. It’s all tongue in cheek, though, as the boys can be found on rocking horses and generally larking around. Anton Corbijn directed the music video for Personal Jesus and is his first Depeche Mode video in color. It features the band on a ranch (suggested to appear as a brothel), filmed in the Tabernas Desert of Almería, in Spain. MTV edited out some suggestive mouth movements of Martin Gore during the bridge and replaced it with some other footage from the video.

Personal Jesus is one of my favorite tunes by DM. I recommend checking it out live on there Devotional tour it is so loud and powerful the whole crowd is going nuts.. If you are interested in how DM kind of changes there sound and look in the early 90's . the song "I Feel You" is a awesome tune it is a bit more rockier but still staying true to the synth sound

I remember when "Personal Jesus" came out. Depeche Mode had already been going for nearly ten years and that was a long time back in the day, bands (apart from The Rolling Stones 😁) tended not to hang around so much then. They'd evolved a fair bit in that time but this was a massive departure for them and also pretty much a new sound altogether - it was exciting
