Broke out the shoot through last night outside. It's been a while. I was getting a lot of that light spill against a black wall. Looking back, I wonder if increasing the zoom of the flash would have helped.
If you want to use a speedlight with a softbox without having to buy the annoying zipper models which causes you to end up with your unit covered up inside, the Godox or any brand s-type clamp system will serve its purpose. I haven't read anything about this clamping system guaranteeing your flash won't hit the ground and break if it falls. I needed an option since my octabox is a screaming pain to set up and adjust.
Thanks for the tutorial. I have got a question to ask you. I still do not understand E-TTL vs TTL. Well, when the flash is on an E-TTL function I can change the flashes strength from -3 to +3 and this will change it in the camera (I use Canon 5D mk iii.) However, on TTL, this function is not available. All I want to know is that, how would I be able to change the flash from the camera, I mean which setting is required to achieve this while the flash is on-camera? Thanks very much in advance.
It's called "Thunder Gray" from Savage. It's my favorite because it can be lit to go from very light to practically black and it accepts color from gelled lights very well!
Joe, there is always a chance of the flash to fall down but to guarantee that the first thing that is going to break is the mounting foot is ludicrous. By the way, I know a great number of photographers and I have never seen any of them using that concoction.
It is one of the more fragile parts, so what if the is just telling the beginners to be careful with their gear. Being more secure without any trade-offs compared to the more traditional method is better, isn't itm
My lord that girl is beautiful. That makes getting good images so easy when the model gets a flawless.
She's the only reason I'm watching all your videos. So to the haters your all way off. I'm learning some photography too.
Thank you so much for this video! It's very, very, very helpful!!!
Very helpful. Thanks for posting.
great video and info, thank you
Thank you for this
Well done Joe! Laszlo Montreal Photog.
I'm not surprised the mom came along. it happened to me twice when I was taking portrait lighting courses...

very good tutorial
Nice!!!
Out of curiosity, what is the size of the shoot through umbrella you were using? I really like the soft lighting it provides.
Cool video nice
Hi Joe...just curious as to what lens you're using that would be comparable to a nikon fx setup?

Just cut the zipper. Fuck it
Super
Where can I get one?
Nice video! What zoom do you set in the speedlight? Thanks!

E-TTL is just a more updated version of TTL on Canon flash/cameras. Do not be concerned about it, only cause confusion.
Part 2. I use the YN622C system and work in manual, control adjust power from the camera/controller on hot shoe.
Thanks a lot.
Thanks a lot.
Yeah! You got nothing to do... She's pretty in any light!
+1 also the nice background and the room lighting itself, I am sure without the umbrella I would have decent images 🙂
What lens is it? Sigma 18-35mm 1.4?
Are these results straight out camera ?
What shade of gray is your background?

it is a weak spot no doubt
Her name is Karen 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Me: did she write a letter? 🤔
@Nicolas Zeke don't do it
Geez does any girl have an original pose? As soon as they think someone is taking a shot they start with the pouty lips.
I have been trying to work on that with them!
Thank you Joe! 👍 Finding a great model is a real treasure. This girl is beautiful. It’s just very distracting.
Chris van AGREED! My niece is the worst about those “duck lips”, there’s not a picture of her in the world that she doesn’t do it. 😖
How OLD is she to need her mother on set? she looks 30 in some shots and 15 in others....a tiny bit creepy
White people age FAAAAAAST
Why are a lot of these videos always awkward and the photographs turn out very AVERAGE.
Perhaps because non of these are made by you?
If you're such a great photographer why don't you do these tutorials hot shot.
As some have already said, let's see your above average work.
