- Ahoy Legends, on this episode I head out to a fisherman's playground on a 10 day reef adventure! This is our annual Wilson fishing trip to the Swain Reef Group, one we look forward to every year. The weather can be a bit hit and miss at times, but the fishing, it's always first class! Hope you enjoy the episode!

Gday Sammy, not sure if you have done this somewhere already, but wondering if you could recommend a "minimum quiver" and a "cover all bases" list gear wise for a trip out to the swains/reef. Looking to organise a trip later on in the year!

you should go frame by frame to see how long it took the line to go by the boat. Knowing the length of the boat you can calculate the speed of the fish.

Good afternoon Sammy! Here from st croix usvi. I've been watching all your videos I'm back a few years plus now.... and I would like to do a bit of the same here in the carribbean! I've never filmed and edited any videos for pretty much anything. Could you tell me how you do it. I.e. what editing software you like to use and what equipment you use for filming and microphones and such. Any feedback would be great! Thanks and keep making videos and I'll keep watching them happily!

I use use basic gear really. A mavic pro 2 drone, 2 x GoPros and edit on premiere pro.
The mics are just shot gun and lapel mics 👍

How do you get to plan a trip?
Sammy what’s your honest opinion on coral trout ? I think they are overrated and a bit plain. Got nothing on red emperor !! Still an awesome fish though
They aren’t my number 1 pick that’s for sure but still good chewing. I prefer tuskfish, pearl perch etc etc

Hey Sammy gonna be on a 54’ Cat for a week in the the BVI with the fam for 10 days starting April 1st. Already talked with the cptn and crew and told them I need to be outfitted with all the proper fishing gear. They assured me I didnt need to bring any of my gear as they had everything covered. I am a little nervous without my own gear but gonna trust them that they have it all covered.🙏 Anyway excited to troll all around for 10 days! Maybe Wilson can send me some nice plugs and rigs!🤣 So I can give them a review down there. 🤔
I went in 2022. We had to have our own gear including lures. How could you book a trip like that without your own gear
@@bigfishfishing-111 They outfit the boat with whatever you tell them to. A friend of mine went on this same boat last year and said they had all top of the line rods,reels ,tackle,lures etc…and there is a big tackle shop at the marina you leave out of so if theres something particular you need they will get it there before you leave. Thats what I am being told.😎

Yo Sammy , I have been up to the Swains a fair bit From Bundaberg as a pro , 170 Nm at 10 Kn is 17hours steaming time . Big Cat runs out of Bundaberg so the math is not mathing ?
Hey mate, we fish northern Swains, and travel at around 8-9knots 👍
yer we fish outer reef from the bottom to top of Swains , Almost to Saumarez Reef we only steem at 9-10kntsheeps of red snapper gold band snapper trout reds cod 100-130 meters deep . Being a pro would not waist my time catching GTs . Big Cat Runs out of Bundaberg Port Marina . next time steem another 20nm and try Saumarez its better .

Those boats look so uncomfortable to fish from. Fk all room to move and fight fish. . I’d rather send my own boat to the gbr and catch the same species
They aren’t to bad actually mate. Most people don’t take as much fishing and camera gear as we do though 😂😂
