      pertis catch'em lester if you bring shrimp with you, you’ll have a better shot at hanging one. But save the shrimp till it seems like a good spot to drop it. If there’s whitefish below you, they’ll eat all the shrimp so fast.

    What spec rod are you using for throwing surface irons

    • @Dirty.Hookers
      @Dirty.Hookers  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For surface iron rods, the average stick is 9’ - 10’ and rated usually 20-40# , 20-50#, or 30-60# depending on what the target is.
      Personally. I really like a 20-50# 9ft for an all species kinda rod.
      10ft I really like 30-60 for yellowtail
      And tuna I like 9ft 30-60

    Does your komodo 300 feel more robust than your lexa 300?

    • @Dirty.Hookers
      @Dirty.Hookers  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      girabaldy tasty it’s a love hate relationship honestly. The Komodo all around feels more durable then the lexa, but the lexa has a better breaking system for casting.
      I backlash way more on my komodos then I do on my lexas, but they do feel like they can take more abuse so I’ve been trying to make the transfer and use my komodos more

    • @girabaldytasty6224
      @girabaldytasty6224 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@punkerboy909 I don't really fish the big baitcasters, but Ive fished all of them and I only own a tranx 400 that rarely gets used. Anyway the Lexa feels like a reel around the $100 price range that got enlarged I've owned two 400wns and a Lexa 300hd. The 400wn felt very Grindy and rattled alot. Out of the box my 300hd had a tbumbar that got stuck in free spool. I sold those three lexas immediately. I had an original silver Lexa 300 that I used for about three years that worked very well and was super smooth never had a problem with it and I sold it to a friend Wich I wish I didn't. The KOMODO feels like a conventional reel that got turned to a low profile, my brother has a 364 and it feels like a tank it's pretty smooth and it is a ruggid little reel for sure. The thing I like about the tranx is even though it's a big reel it feels like it is suppose to be a high end reel. Like the lexas feel like a big version of a $80-$100 reel while the tranx feels like a chronarch that got enlarged its very very smooth. It doesn't have that Rock solid feel like the Komodo and one of my friends had some corrosion issues with his tranx. I bring the tranx and have it rigged with a swimbait so I don't fish them like most people do with livebait or surface iron cause I'm not an El nino angler, but if your gonna be pulling double duty with this reel I would get the Komodo for shizzle.

    • @punkerboy909
      @punkerboy909 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@girabaldytasty6224 damn! That's for the awesome review man! I really appreciate it. Of course, the tranx is at the top of my wish list. Lol. I'll see how much I can round up for the next reel. But if I want something that will last forever I might as well spend the money on the tranx! Thanks again! Tight lines

      B.A. Whosoever for better odds, maybe look into more south. Maybe Long Beach aboard the native sun or the thunderbird.
      Or San Diego aboard the Mission Belle, Liberty, Grande, or The San Diego.
      As for out of Channel Islands, the bite hasn’t really picked up yet, but when the yellows are here, Aloha Spirit, Island spirit, Pacific Islander, or the speed twin

      Swimbaits will be fine. Swimbaits will catch calicos all day, and for surface fishing, you can fly line a live bait and do just as well as in this video.
