Fun fact about this song - a couple years ago feminism was a hot topic in Korea around the time the #metoo movement started taking off in America. Several groups in support of female rights in Korea and notable fans in K-Army noted that BTS would use this as a "female hype song" in their concerts, but some of the lyrics are a little misogynistic and suggest that girls are sexual objects (etc.). They created a post that spread around the fandom pointing out specific things in the choreo and lyrics, and at this time a female idol was seen reading a popular feminist book and got ripped to shreds by her fandom. Not only did RM post that he was also reading the book, but BTS apologized and acknowledged the issues in the song's lyrics. But one of the reasons I appreciate BTS's response so much is that they didn't just apologize, they released 21st Century Girl on their next album that talks about how intelligent and strong the girl is instead of just how perfect her measurements are and that she deserves respect as opposed to suggesting she should accept the boys' affections. I think they've only used War of Hormones once or twice live since releasing 21st Century Girls. As much as I enjoyed how much fun they had with the choreo during performances, I like that they chose to use a newer song that is less problematic.

They started decreasing the use of and stopped writing songs with "her" or "she" making things more gender neutral and less aggressive sounding. I think RM actually had some deep moments of contemplation because of the hate and it changed a lot over time how he approached things. I feel like things worked out in the long run as they started talking more about interpersonal struggles and temptations youth can fall into and the BTS storyline as time progressed.

But one of the arguments given was the glorified objectification of women but I think it was whatever they could make stick to drag them down. But whatever the case may be I think a good portion of fans still like the song and still enjoy it. Though I think they learned some good lessons from the experience, grew and changed for the better.

People, like always, were stupid, and they criticized the lyrics of this song a lot in the time arguing that it treated women as objects. RM, who wrote the lyrics had to apologize and this issue led him even to depression. As a result, they dont perform this song anymore. Just a waste because it really is one of their best. To save himself from more trouble RM even contacted an expert on women studies from some korean university to check the lyrics of every one of their songs after this, and their songs since then are always neutral, as they never use terms like "girl" or "woman" anymore and they refer to genderless beings.

The setting is great (looks like the same school in the background) yes, they’re outside; their outfits are cool, you can actually SEE the awesome choreography, it’s just great, and I think you would appreciate it too! Also, don’t forget that every single one of BTS’s MVs has a “making-of” video, so we get to see behind the scenes of all their videos! These are usually about 5 minutes long, they’re very informative as well as entertaining, like for this one we’re shown how the bikes were actually being towed! If you look closely at JIN’s part you’ll see that the bike tire isn’t moving at all. FYI: BTS actually got in quite a bit of trouble for the lyrics and concept of this video!
