    Love how Tbose is confident in what he does, not threatened by "competitors" I once heard him sending a shout out to Sintle....a LEGEND he is

    I agree with Ayanda. I’m a 20 year old aspiring radio personality and I really would like to have an experience similar to Y Academy. We dont have such anymore today, we basically train ourselves on campus radio

    Radio is going through its inevitable death. Through podcast you’re able to have long, vulnerable raw conversations. You also not being controlled corporate cronies that only care about ad revenue. It’s so excruciating listening to radio now, with all those annoying segments and trying to be relatable through taking social media content. I really enjoyed this chat 🔥

    Radio is dying in my opinion. The only time I really listen to radio is when I'm a captive audience in a taxi. Podcasts are the present & the future.

      I agree, and even during this interview, you can see Tap is on his phone throughout the conversation. He is in the room but not in the studio.

    The best thing about my life was growing up in Bop.
    We had Radio Bop, Radio Sunshine, Radio Mmabatho. Those were the creme de la creme of radio personalities.
    I’m sorry everything else since then come second best.
    On Kaya it’s only Nicky Blumenfeld I listen to.
    There was a jazz guy, Mpho Sebone there. He’s the best ever to have graced Kaya fm.
    Otherwise there’s still Ike Phaahla, that’s it.

    If radio is a sound medium why are we then as practitioners allow listeners to send texts instead of voice notes or voice calls?

    Can someone who is on the branding side of radio please explain to me why it is no longer OK to name/brand a radio station by its dial frequency like 95.9, 94.7, 98.7... They all changed to Kaya 959, Power 987 and 947. What is not OK from a branding perspective to mention that "point" between 94 and 7 or 98 and 7 because electronically that is the dialing frequency to access the station?

    • @SfisoRowen
      @SfisoRowen 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not on branding side of radio but according to my telecoms knowledge, radio stations are not owning those frequencies, they're paying for them on ICASA, so if it happens that kaya fm no longer uses 95.9 but 105.9 instead, are they expected to rebrand?

    • @dikabelodk2472

    Wow, I feel like I was attending a broadcasting conference free of charge, I grew up listening to the radio in the era of Kansas City, Radio Bop, 1st group of Metro DJs, bo Grant Shokoane, Bob Mabena so I strongly agree employing social influencers has killed radio, hence the rise of podcast like Mac G's cos listeners are looking for content not how cool you are

    • @thickkellz
      @thickkellz 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Funny enough I was saying that myself the other day..not to discredit the talent influencers but mean this is radio we need groomed radio personalities whether breastfed ones or bottle fed ones or Naturals but radio personalities not wat I see people with a huge following on one social platform or the other gracing our Air naaaa man it is killing the waves
