    Buying these tools is akin to buying Wera , expensive at first but improves long term cost of operation.

    I love that things like this exist! Now if only I was any good at board repair haha.. that USB tester looks really interesting for even less intricate repair jobs though. Thanks for the video!

    USB keyboard is the best tool to check, if laptop is on or not (tapping numlock+caps lock).

      Somewhat more cumbersome though in terms of desk space. Could also use a USB-memory-stick (with LED) or a mouse; though neither will give you the good-5V reading.

    "... the USB bus bus". You mean the Universal Serial Bus bus bus?

    When you mentioned putting tools and flash drives on lanyards, I thought, it would be nice if there was an Adamant IT lanyard available in the future.

    another top tip that has sprung to mind is to use low melt solder on the break out boards, it'll be a breeze to pop them on and off for re-programming, and obviously use normal solder to put them back on the laptop/PC board...

    I use the chipmunk and it does save a lot of time, when I am looking at one a customer brings in. The time savings for the other items alone would pay for the items in a day, if you are busy. One other thing to mention is that if you are starting out and just learning these could be invaluable.
    Great video, Harold should use you to advertise the other items. :)

    that is a good quality sop board, I'd buy that and the chipmunk.
    the battery testers are cool but they're the kind of thing that a larger apple repair shop would have at 105 euro each.

    Hi, i have a question to you :). Do PSU have influence on a GPU coil whine? Understandable if it was low quality PSU with unstable voltages etc. but i read on forums that people had corsair rm850x and after change on straight power 11 coil whine was ended... How to explain that?

    • @Adamant_IT
      @Adamant_IT  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you change the PSU and the coil whine goes away, it was probably the PSU and not the GPU that was whining. It can be very hard to tell.
      Speaking from experience. I changed out an RM850x in my own system that had mad coil whine.

    I'm always fascinated by special purpose diagnostic and repair tools. Some pay for themselves over months, others like a plumber's basin wrench pay for themselves immediately. If you've ever tried replacing a kitchen faucet without a basin wrench, the difference is 30 minutes of cursing and misery vs 5 minutes of calm labor -- choose wisely. The pricing seems to be a wash - if you're in the laptop repair trade, shaving 5 minutes of diagnosis off each dead laptop adds up quickly when time is money. Finally, I'm certain the Chinese will make whatever you want at the quality level you're willing to pay for. One should expect to pay more than AliExpress prices for better than AliExpress quality...

    Please can a MacBook air fail to boot totally if the battery is dead?.
    Just saw what this MacBook air battery tool could do and was wondering because I have a MacBook air 2011 who's battery is dead that's showing green light on the charger but not coming on.

    • @Adamant_IT
      @Adamant_IT  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Older MBAs should switch on with the battery disconnected. A completely failed battery can prevent turn-on. So yea, try unplugging the battery and connecting the charger, see if it comes on.
