"Plus he's tiny and he's cute, and I like that." Perfectly said brother I appreciate your enthusiasm and honesty. I'm really glad I found your channel. Keep it up man. You've got my support 💪
The fact that Ponix was already on the artwork of ''Circle of the Fire Kings'' which is a 10+ years old card makes you wonder how much more pre-made stuff they are holding for future archetype support releases.
Winds Over the Ice Barrier has Avance and Emilia in a younger version as Ice Barrier members that we still did not get it as monster cards, for example
For the most part every archetype is pretty much designed way ahead of time No doubt there's probably another set of Fire king cards already designed but won't release probably for another 5 years
@@JDBass36 Right, if you've been playing for some time you start to notice that for the most archetypes and themes they make there seem to be hints for already unreleased pre-designed card features that are meant to act as a follow up for the strategy in the future. I just find it intriguing that they have the kind of capacity to plan over a decade/'s ahead and release the cards at the right time regardless if the game were to be still up or not.
@@AuramaxYGO They probably didn't plan to release it 10 years later. They probably could had forgotten and then went back to add it lol From what I heard konami is about 1 to 2 years ahead of the current year. So pretty much right now konami already has the cards and set for 2024 and 2025 already planned.
The final card for the SD ended up not being the Barong upgrade but we still got the spell/trap searcher which is pretty much all i really wanted for the deck in order to make good use of both older and newest stuff they recently got and its pretty good searcher at that as it easily jumps out on field and is recoverable every turn which largely increases the resourcefulness and consistency for the deck. Even though it is easily recoverable i still think you run this at 3 because its currently the best starter for the deck and having more copies to open with it means you can search Fire King s/t's during turn 0(opponents turn 1) if you've already popped off with the new Kirin's quick effect that turn. Being a level 1 fire monster also opens the door for Diabellestarr engine as you can directly summon Ponix from the deck for the s/t search and gain an extra body/card advantage from the small Diabelle package since Fire Kings are run more or less pure and can afford to have space for some extra utility cards like these. Now i still think we will probably get the new Barong in upcoming core sets or elsewhere as they've done the same thing several times already, separating the SD goods from the pack to make the other products more desirable and with the new Ponix you don't completely remove the old Barong but probably cut it to 1 as its still good enough card to rotate around with several Fire King effects for extra card advantage. Overall to me this seems like on of the most successful SD's we have had in a while as they managed to turn completely unplayable theme into multifunctional deck that has its own strategy and doesn't rely too much on outside cards to work as intended so i will definitely be adding it to my selection and see how much further it can be advanced as an archetype.
Now this card gives me hope that Fire kings will be VERY playable. Ponix is a one card combo, you summon it, search Sanctuary, activate it and activate Island, Island destroys Ponix to search Sacred Garunix, Sacred then summons itself destroying Barong and in your opponent's standby you activate both Barong and Ponix, giving you both High Kirin and Ponix so you have follow-up with Ponix and a Quick Raigeki. It's quite consistent thanks to the Bellstar engine and can play under Nib and Maxx C (OCG and MD) but it's hindered by Shifter and somewhat Droll (You kinda could play through droll depending on how you opened or conter it with Arvata/Ganesha. So yeah, I'm happy with how the archetype is post this structure, and there's also the posibility that they could recieve more support (like the High Barong that people were "theorizing" that appears in the trap). So yeah, I'm exited for them.
@@AliacadosDuelistasIt's a cute pun word for "Phoenix" which is the fire bird of rebirth.. Garunix is just combination word of Garuda and phoenix itself.
A really nice card. I bet there is more Fire King support coming soon. We re still missing that blue spirit next to Kirin in that one new spell card artwork. Could maybe be an High Fire King Arvarta🤔
The figure you mean has blue flames, is Barong, not Arvata. The long thing in the artwork is the beard. More probably Konami had in mind of upgraded the last OG member of the old Structure. Also i think you mean the trap card xD
@@CyberTwinDragon9999 everyone speaking about the "missing" retrained Barong but it’d have made little sense actually, because Yaksha can be considered its counterpart already (just like Hanuman to Arvata) whereas Kirin was the black sheep of the family. Literally as it was the only beast, so it was a choice between a new one or its upgrade and they went for the second. Furthermore, Kirin went from being the worst one when it came out to the best one in the modern context so it’s also symbolic that it's the only one who ascended.
@@endeavor1299 i respect your opinion, but i don't think that Yaksha is considerable as a counterpart of Barong: the two have effect totally differents and that not remember an opposite of each, unlike Arvata-Hanuman that complete each other. Also, even if Barong is still an important piece, make sense see an upgrade both for the fact that was one of the OG very first mamber that because all three were presents in the artowork of Solidarity Strike. Also, Barong remain a slow card and the only one of the OG trio that not get an " status promotion" (High Avatar Garunix become Sacred Garunix and Kirin become High Avatar Kirin)
@@CyberTwinDragon9999I appreciate your respect for my opinion, but it's actually pretty based. First of all, konami designers weren't as good as they are today (both conceptually and technically speaking) and Arvata was released long after their first wave, Hanuman even more. Yaksha's flames were made red, the color popularly considered opposite to blue, which was the color chosen for Barong's flames. Furthermore, they were the only members sharing the same stats and it wasn't due to their shared level, Kirin and teen Garunix had in fact different stats despite that. Finally, Hanuman has actually a different atk from Arvata's but it doesn't mean that it isn't its counterpart, right? Stats are surely more showy than some lines of text, so Barong and Yaksha having *partially different effects doesn't really matter.
I'm not saying a retrain of Barong won't surely be made, especially because konami can actually do whatever they want. I was just saying that there'd be little sense in making it both conceptually and technically speaking. Barong's slowness is no more a problem in fact, since the deck now plays on the opponent's turn.
Not really related to the video, really pleased with the new card by the way. I was wondering if you had heard about the set Terminal World releasing in the OCG in November, which will include new cards for 4 archetypes from the duel terminal lore (including Infernoid and Ice barrier). It is understandable if you did not hear about it because they announced it a few weeks ago while you were on vacation. Just mentioning it because we will probably get the reveals for this set in the next 2 months and in case you wanted an idea for a video. PS: Zefra is in the duel terminal (but no guarantee because the duel terminal has at least 15 archetypes in it).
Im definitely buying 3 of this structure deck I loved playing this archetype back in the day and if they have some more nice reprint cards it sounds amazing so far
Awwsome video as always, but I really need to mention that you look incredibly cute today. Just wanted to let you know King, keep up the great work and have a nice day 💪
Finally, that one card that can really push Fire Kings into a good territory.

I feel it's more so they forgot the art existed and when they revisited the archetype they just copy pasted the monster

I always interpreted the baby bird, now called Ponix to just be a baby Garunix since it's a phoenix and it goes through cycles of rebirth.
It is the same monster, I just do not understand why it has "Ponix" and not "Garunix" in his name :v
@@AliacadosDuelistas I'd guess that it could just be the child of Garunix, keeping the -nix like a last name.

Literally exactly what I said the deck needed
The Recycle eff Works great with Arvata & Hannuman to make More control(like the Subterror Guru/Fiendish Engine)

Don't do that, don't give me hope for Jurrac support.
