This is a book that, as fairly and honestly as possible, looks at the greatest crime, at our greatest failing. Both despite, and for this very fact, this book thus stands out as a monument to humanity.

But as historian from Latvia, I want to point, that countries in this "bloodland" region understand the most, what happened in region, so they can give the best examples of true and unbiased history. It's not rewriting history, to add to their political agendas or local national interests only, but of course history gets often mixed in thous subjects. At the end You already pointed out about that, that history tends to become political and so on. But this issue is present in all countries of world, in some more, than others.
