A wonderful build, as always. For future builds, I'd love to see your take on Tau, either has just some basic display pieces or a full-blown set of Tau city terrain (most folks rely on foam for Tau terrain; it'd be nice to see some alternatives).

[ You have to watch that battery power because any malfunction may cause a corruption of the buffer pattern and as Star Fleet reported back to the Enterprise after the 2270's transporter accident..."What we got back didn't live long... fortunately." ] Which is to say - you got me sold on that Teleportarium. Brilliant!

I want someone to add a pressure switch to a recorder that plays back one of a few random "Sir, what are your orders?" Type recordings. This to remind the player that the they're still on the pad.

One of the many things I really like about your stuff (and the works of BMC) is that you always seem to be working _with_ the texture and/or shape of your materials and letting them do a lot of the work for you - not thrashing your various substrates into submission and pissing yourself off in the process. You always get great looking results without having to sweat blood from your forehead (or so it seems from here).
The guys on YT who (frinstance) apply layer upon layer of weathering to their vehicle models and make their own weld lines to stick on get amazing results - but for me, that would be (*adopts my long-gone Yorkshire dad's voice) a toil of a bloody pleasure. Your approach to craft seems much more appealing.
    There. That's enough me.

This is certainly a nice idea. Part of ITC stuff involves a display board or diorama setup to show off your armies when you're not playing them, and honestly the idea of a dedicated teleport zone for minis is just really fitting.
I'm gonna toss my hat into the ring and suggest you try this take on Warpflame Strike, the jump ability for Warp Talons. While it's the same 'low orbit' description as Raptors and other jump pack units, in lore these guys actually chill out inside the warp itself until they catch the scent of a fight, at which point they claw their way through reality to join in on the brawl. This way of dragging out into realspace is such a distraction they don't even suffer Overwatch on the turn they charge in.

  • @ArgentChaosJames

Great build, and it looks so good! Pretty impressive watching the process from simple bits and it comes out looking so clean and professional. The LEDs are a nice touch and definitely cool to see them used in a project.
And with a bit of homebrew I don't see why you couldn't use it as a terrain piece. Sure you could just use it as is, but even if you had it on one side of the map and had one or more "target" pads on the other side, so either team could use it as a quick way to jump across the map. Add some variability to what the opponents might do, or give another strategic point that could be held by one team to prevent the other from warping into a key position.
Either way, pretty great looking build and look forward to that upcoming BatRep.

what you are able to do now is set up a two tiered battle half taking place on a stace marine ship in orbit and half taking place on the planet. the bulk of the space marines are on the ship, they sent down a few units and got caught and now the teleportarium is blocked by enemy units. the bulk of the enemy units are on the planet, whatever means they used to get on the ship being blocked by the small space marine squad. Either small squad could win the battle on their own but if the larger army wins they still have to face the bulk of their enemy.

Wonder if you'll see this... Maybe try Alclad chrome with high gloss varnish for the mirror effect next time? Also what if you painted some with UV or irriscadent(sp?) paint for extra effect? Also the teleport pads could have been made partially with transparent plastic and painted with clear paints. This way you could have the models lit from underneath.

This is awesome! I think I might actually copy that when I build my cataphractii. Wanted to do a diorama for some time now.
One could use metal Discs for the teleport circles to attacj magnetized bases for storage and travel.
You could try your Hand at creating a drop pod Hangar. One could even build a battle barge or something like that as a Display board: teleportarium, drop pods and a flight Deck where tanks and infantry can assemble

An LED is a diode. A diode without a resistor is like shorting the battery with a wire. So no it is not recommended. If you do that with powerfull batteries you'll have trouble. But these tiny batteries are to weak to deliver a high "short-circuit-current" --> there are apps for calculating the resistor if needed. Also every colour of LED's use a different working voltage and have a different voltage required for even start to glow (don't now how to explain it in English, cause I'm Dutch speaking 😊) But I'm an electrician and studied electronics as well looong ago
