Hey! First of all, what an incredibly cool print-looks absolutely amazing. Great job! Secondly, how did you manage to achieve such fine details with an FDM printer? What was your layer height, and did you have to do a lot of sanding?
@@TNESatiron Thank you very much! 🙂 I use a layer height of 0.18 for larger models like this one. I did a very small amount of sanding just to tidy up where supports were. I used maybe 4 or 5 layers of filler primer. The stuff is amazing at achieveing a smooth top surface if you apply enough coats. 🙂 Thanks for watching! 👍😃
Fantastic, that purple light was the cream on the top!!! But is it durable? I mean not for fights ofc haha but for choreography for example or to play with alone :3 ?
@@seraphpaladin Thank you, it is reasonably durable for carrying around. Adding an alluminium rod down the middle would make it much better tho if you fancy sparring with it. 😄👍
Looks amazeing. But im curious how's the stability and sturdiness of the hilt? since its all 3d print and pretty short connection rods, i would be afraid of it snapping off :S even at a high infill
@@Zerod333 Thats a good question, thank you! It is very sturdy in the hilt. I printed the rods at 100% infil and I also used epoxy steel stick putty and a 2 part epoxy resin when sealing the joins. I definetly over did it but when it comes to adding strength to a build like this, too much is never enough. 🙂👍
This video deserved more than 100k
🥹😊 Thank you! I'm glad you like it. 👍

@RC-3Dimensions once I get a job frostmourne and el'druin will be my first orders haha
I am making the same sword. Do you apply clear coat before the graphite powder or just a glossy base coat ? And what about sealing afterwards.
@@Claus.B I applied the graphite powder directly to the gloss coat, then I sealed it with a satin laquer spray. 🙂
Good luck with your project! 😬
