The Opening day of The Haunted Mansion

The best ride in Disneyland opened in 1969, but it did so in a rushed and unconventional way two months before its scheduled opening. After many years of sitting vacant, it was visited by the first groups of mortals, and the experience they had was different depending on which "opening day" they assisted to. In this video we will talk about the three openings of The Mansion: The soft opening on the 7th, the official (yet without ceremony) opening to general public during the 9th, the promoted opening during the 10th, and the press event during the 12 at midnight. I went to Disney World in 1974. I was 4 years old. The Haunted Mansion blew my young mind. I was so excited I bgged to ride it over and over again. That started my 50 year obsession with the Haunted Mansion. My favorite part has never been the popular merch characters- it is the ballroom scene. I can never get enough of the chaotic party ghosts.

I was born Nov 1st 1967 and the Haunted mansion opened Augest 9th 1969 almost 3 months before my birthday Nov 1st 1969

I had collected those DL maps for years with the Haunted Mansion always saying Coming Soon. As a true Child of the 60s, I loved horror films, the Addams Family, the Munsters, and suchlike goodies of the era. When I finally got to go to DL in 1970, there was only one ride I *had* to go on. Every trip since I always make certain to ride the Haunted Mansion. It was, and remains, perfectly glorious.

The original hatbox ghost was not right next to the bride. He was stationed on the right side of the track, while the bride was on the left. Once it was just her, the positioning of the figure changed from left to right over the years. She's now back on her original side, and has been changed/updated to the character 'Constance Hatchaway'.
