Given that her crowning achievement, the 1619 Project, has the same legitimacy as the Confederate "Lost Cause" theory, I don't think anyone is expect her to "heal the university", or anywhere she goes, for that matter. Her entire intellectual purpose is, just like the Dixiecrats to which she owes some degree of her intellectual heritage, to sow division through historic revisionism.

@Scott Bruce Because they're American. Why don't you go back to Europe? Serious question. Pretty sure, every other race just tolerates you given how you've treated the Japanese and Vietnamese (Asians), how you've treated the Native Americans, how you've treated Muslims, how you've treated Blacks, how you've treated Hispanics and dehumanized them and how you think "Jews can't replace y'all" (chanted by the alt-right white supremacists in Charleston). Maybe just leave? Because this country will continue to bring in immigrants and will only get more multi-cultural. 🤷‍♂️

Lets face it: Universities and colleges in the U.S. have lost their way, they are compromised at so many levels. We need to stop telling our children that they must go to college, or that college is the way to a better life. If we stop enrolling, only then is meaningful change likely to occur. Universities have become businesses, and it's time for the customers to go elsewhere, perhaps online, to further their lifelong education.

Also, our school systems nationwide is a disgrace when it comes to teaching history. I live in New York City (Just as racist as the South, but on a different level), our hideous gov. cuomo during the covid19 pandemic had/has police officers guarding columbus statue at columbus circle. We all know about christopher columbus, New York City has the largest parade in the entire world on columbus day in october. Last, but not least, cuomo stated on news MSNBC & CNN and anyone else who was covering him during the pandemic that the statue (christopher columbus), will not be removed, it is part of his heritage (italian).
Funny how he can scold the south, when New York City is no better. Additionally, her most well known work was scrutinized by respected historians and found to be inaccurate and politically biased. In fact, they did offer her a 5 year position with the potential for tenure after the initial period, which she turned down.

Unis are 100% ideological, but humanities still teach you a lot of important critical thinking you won't really get a chance to develop elsewhere in your life. Questioning the status quo is historically what the Left does, questioning some parts but making sure not to go too far is what liberals do (after all, these are elite institutions), making lazy excuses for the status quo is what the right does
the Left is marginalized for asking too many questions, so academia leans liberal. It doesn't and never will lean Right because the Right has almost nothing insightful to say about society and the world

I don't understand what the fuss is about? She got offered a job, turns it down, and goes to a different university. I'm all for people negotiating themselves, but damn people out here aren't getting jobs in higher ed with PhDs. Just because everyone who was offered the position and was white got tenure is really not enough to prove discrimination in a case. Were any other African American candidates not offered the job or were offered the job before her? How does she know? How does something so trivial like this gain national news in a time when so many horrible things are happening. I'm really not impressed by her pitty party crying over spilled milk. You got the a JOB and it seems you got it where you wanted. SUCK IT UP.

I applaud her for choosing an HBCU-Howard University to work. Black People should attend HBCU’s and work at those institutions. My Father graduated from Benedict College and when he graduated with his Masters Degree from South Carolina State University he was offered a position as Head Coach of the Tigers Football Team at Benedict and he also began teaching in the fall of 1959-1962. He died in January 1963.

Because it appears that she chose to not continue to fight it, she decided to go somewhere else. What whole new definition of racism are they writing? Its funny how you mention food and roads. When you know there have been roads and food that African Americans could not freely go on or eat in our history. Travon Martin experienced that before his death. Someone saw him and felt he had to be doing something wrong because he felt he did not belong there.
