Symphonic in scale and autumnal in mood, Journey's End is Taylor's ‘September Song’, a highly personal reflection on earthly mortality and ephemeral beauty. The track is a Taylor-penned song and entirely instrumentally performed by him. The video is also a previous No.1 video on iTunes.

Spanning precisely six minutes and 50 seconds, Journey's End exceeds the epic running time of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody by almost a full minute. Musically it offers a warm, immersive bittersweet blend of lush chamber-pop ballad and widescreen ambient sound painting, which is graced in its latter half by a luminous, free-flowing guitar solo. Directed by the BAFTA-winning actor and filmmaker Stuart Brennan, this sumptuously shot mini-epic has an otherworldly, elegiac feel to match the song's rueful, metaphysical mood. The film was mostly shot around Taylor's house in Truro in his home region of Cornwall in southwest England. He appears on screen throughout, but as a shadowy figure playfully half-disguised behind sunglasses and stylish hat, striding through the landscape like a Magritte painting come to life.

About Roger Taylor:
Roger Taylor's contribution to Queen was far more than just the drummer. He wrote massive hit singles; 'Radio Ga Ga,' 'A Kind Of Magic,' 'Breakthru', 'Invisible Man', 'Heaven for Everyone' and 'These Are Days of Our Lives.' Plus fan favourites like 'I'm In Love With My Car' and 'Tenement Funster.' In 1977 Roger became the first member of Queen to launch a solo career with the release of the single I Wanna Testify. His solo album Fun In Space followed in 1981, and was succeeded by 1984's rock-based Strange Frontier. Both LPs reached the Top 30. In 1987 Roger formed his own band The Cross, in which after more than 20 years he finally resumed the role of lead singer. The Cross released three distinctive albums and toured extensively in the UK and Europe.

I've been following the work of Taylor since the early efforts of Queen. The vocals have been maintained, for all these years, that makes me happy.

Beautiful. My friend says when B.Dylan dies nobody can talk to him in 2 weeks. When the last Queen members go to the planet where Freddie is (maybe) I will cry for weeks if I am still alive. I am digging deeper and deeper looking into Queens legacy. Amazing. Queen is the only rockband for me because I love to dance and on that one I need other bands.

Roger REALLY brought it on this track. What a great piece it is. Mesmerizing, evocative, introspective...wondering about the journey we are ALL on. I've always loved Roger's solo work because it is in the complete opposite direction of anything he did with Queen. Although a bit somber knowing our eventual fate, it is still, IMO, one of Roger's best solo efforts to date.

The description really says it all. The ephemeral, transient nature of life being shown here, I feel like there aren't very many bands (though there are some) that can really make this as appropriate and fitting as Queen. The heart and soul of the band dies of (what was then) terminal illness, and that's colored the band ever since, from the 1992 concert, to the '97 song _No One But You,_ and now this. With the remaining members now growing old, to the point of reaching the natural lifespan, it comes for them as well, like it does with everyone. For Taylor to be, in some sense, surrounded by it for so long, and for him to now be facing it himself, this track really reaches its full power. From the patient tempo to the "sparse" lyrics (given the length of the track), as well as the natural scenery and the skull on the end of his cane? Umbrella? It really gives a contemplative mood, and helps one reflect on their own mortality. Just a great piece on all fronts, discussing artistically something that we all will face one day.

It's a rather serious and pretty melancholy piece but I do like it a lot... Beautiful piece, one of Roger's best. I'm so glad he finally released the full version on his new album.
Probably my favorite solo Roger song, and top 5 of his songs in general. I think These Are The Days Of Our Lives might be my favorite, then some of his early rockers like Tenament Funster, but this beauty is right up there.

To me Journey's End is showing the end of one life but ready for the new life ahead without Freddie, Brian and John You look so sad, broken even, I hope you have found a life after Queen. Without Queen, Freddie, Brian, Yourself and John my life would have been very different and I would not have the courage to be myself. I have wished "Fat Bottomed Girls" (I don't have a fat bum) to be played as my casket is going through the curtain to be cremated.
