You gotta learn the Active reloads! Shit is hype and gives a damage boost. Tap the reload button second time at the beginning of the solid white sweetspot in the reload bar under the gun icon. The rest of the sweetspot gives you a quick reload.
As a gears of war fan I actually really enjoyed seeing you experience this your first time and understanding what the game is all about! It’s brutal, violent and hopeless, and flat out cool as shit

Gears is an excellent self contained trilogy. I recommend sticking to it as the subsequent games tend to suffer from the same 'unnecessary sequelitis" most franchises suffer from these days. Keep to the first three, trust me. Ps, I did scissors.
