In the past I have used a normal rivet press and a vice to repoint darts. Being a mechanic I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who isn't familiar with material stress as it needs some precision and muscle memory so as not to ruin your darts. That said, I quess you could use a long nut or an assortment of nuts (maybe pc spacer nuts) to connect the dart with the repointing tool. Thanks again for the great content WWD, love it!
I used to have a set of Slim Jim darts which used a 4mm thread for the shafts not a 2BA thread. They were great darts , but the shafts on the market became worse and worse in quality . There were only aluminium shafts in 4mm available and the quality of the threads were variable . In the end I had to find a replacement dart as I could not buy decent shafts in 4mm . In addition I had to replace shafts just about every time a dart bounced out , as they bent . Also replacement was always the only cure with Robin Hoods due to bent flight slots . You must use a rubber ring between the dart and shaft too , not a problem , but this necessary to counter vibration . Honestly I have never found a dart that I can throw as well the Slim Jims . I use Winmau Stratos now , but I wish I could use the Slim Jims . Beware of alloy sharts in any dart though ....just saying WW !
I got given some Slim Jim's to try out and I was the same, always bending the shaft. Which I then had to change. you could straighten out the shafts to a point and the darts still threw OK but them being bent messed with my head. I did get them repointed but in the end I gave them back to the chap that let me have them as they were too much like hard work. Having a mind like a box of ferrets I don't need anything messing with it and bent shafts did that even if the darts kept going where I wanted them to because they're going to spiral a bit.
So slim, I don’t think I could hold them well enough to throw. But great review, unique darts. The shafts screw on similar to the Bottelsen hammerhead gt3. Very cool setup. Great review!
Cheers. Yeah, there is definitely an adjustment period trying to figure out a grip for such thin darts. I'm not entirely convinced I'll stick with them.
Great review once again! I have always been on the fence with M3 darts because of how thin they are. Not sure if they would help or hurt my throw. They do look super nice and I love the color red! As others have said, would probably need an adapter for your re-pointing tool and if these were my darts I would definitely want them re-pointed. Such a nice set of darts looks cheap with a trident nose cone. Sure they will work for the time being but a specialty point is the real solution. Keep the excellent reviews coming!
Hey WWD you can directly heat the point with fire and once it’s hot enough you can remove the points then add new ones then just superglue it shut and your good to go
great video, as alwasy! you should have noted the depth negative ** mm. but maybe I am too nerdy. keep it up. by the way, I was thinking you could do some q&a video or maybe comment on darts desicions (routes or out ways) and how they changed over time. Either way, you are my go-to channel ❤💪🎯🇨🇭
Amazing darts, I’ve looked through their catalogue several times the past few years, only for soft tip though, and I hate the m3/4ba tips so I always passed, now that I’m throwing more steel tip I might give it another go. There has to be a conversion jig out there somewhere. Maybe contact Empire, or Custom Made in the UK. I can’t imagine you’d have to buy a whole new repointing tool when a conversion screw would fit the bill. I’ll look around some more, but if you find one please update us! Thanks for the review!!!
Cheers Zolto. I know I can use a rivet tool to get the points out so that shouldn't be an issue. Getting new points back in will prove tricky. I'm going to head to the hardware store today and see what I can find. I think a short hollow tube is all I need. I'll slide it over the M3 threads and onto the lip on the back of the dart. From there I should be able to use my repointing tool. Here's the lip on the back... ibb.co/vdKYj14
I think, it's possible to make m3/2ba adapter using some turning machine. May be some DIY enthusiast in your area have one. Then you can simply use your repointer.
There's mixed opinions but I think a lighter dart is a bit more forgiving over a long format match. We've all heard that a heavier dart is easier to throw right? That might be true but I think over a longer format most people will get a bit sloppy as the match drags on with a heavier dart.
What happened to your Yoshimura Darts that you planned as your new Matchdarts? I myself am from Germany and Jochen did 2 Handmade Sets for me. One M3 and one 2BA. I am very pleased by his work and can only recommend him.
I did find a way to translate the website in the search bar where you type in the web address, but I don't see that they ship to USA when I tried to place the order.@@jonnyfoster8414
2nd comment ..... I do like the external screw thread idea in principle at least . Like my old Slim Jims though the dart owner is going to have a limited number of places to buy replacement shafts from .....prices hopefully will remain affordable and hopefully the quality remains good . I know some people will be thinking 'this guy is really pessimistic and anti ' but I am passing you my past and real experience ; I am not in any way being paid to comment , I am just tell you my opinion from experience . I am tempted to try these myself to tell the truth , but I wonder how long shaft supplies will be available and of good quality . Best wishes
I remember the Red Dragon Slim Jim's. I always wanted a set of them but could never find them. Anything with specialty stems has the risk of them no longer being made. I'll pick up a couple extra sets of the alloy stems from A-Z Darts for now.
My Slim Jims were given to me by a friend , Darryl , god rest his soul , and I absolutely loved those darts ; shame shaft production messed up . Where I have safely stored them away is a mystery ! Hope you continue liking the M3 dart and thanks for showing them to us .@@WorldwideDarts
Man, these look like they would be fun to throw! There are some nice/unique items on their website. Don't think I'd invest in a new "system" though... As far as repointing, they sell a M3/2BA converter for tips, and using something like the D.Craft mini darts, you can throw that on the back end & still insert the 2BA thread from a repointing machine with room to spare.
@@WorldwideDarts Yup, nevermind... I missed a step! Had to see it in picture form to realize my error. I was using their M3/2BA converter backwards. My bad...

There's a video somewhere here on TH-cam of Peter Wright repointing his darts in the worst way possible with a vice, a piece of wood and a hammer. Might need to do that 😂

You have to do the custom made super slim slicks generation 1 darts review. They are 4.5mm wide.

Late reaction. But. You can repoint the darts with a rivet pliers. And press it in with a normal repointing tool
I need to get a hollow adapter at my local hardware store and I'll be able to put the points in
I removed the Screw where normal darts screw on. The thread of the m3 then comes in there and just push it in like normal

Is there anywhere else I can buy shafts for these?
Could you not repoint them with the winmau craftsmen by screwing them directly in and not using the plug

Can u use a radar gun to check your darts speed and ultimately ur consistency?
I want to buy one but they're quite expensive and I have no idea if they will pick up on a dart travelling 6 feet through the air.
Love the review .... but dont think i will be getting a set .. it costs more in shipping than the darts cost to get them to me
Use them for a league
Change the points and you are all set

They just need to use special points🤔
Maybe someone could use one of those 3d printers to make shafts so long as they did not break any patent ....
I can’t throw really thin darts, it’s weird, if it’s about 6.7mm it’s fine, but just dropping to 6.5mm and I just have no grip when throwing
