It was very easy to participate in this tournament for the teams that were 2nd in the leagues between the 7th and 15th places in the UEFA Country Rankings until the 2008-09 season. But in the 2009-10 season, a major system change was made in the qualifiers. For the teams that were second in leagues between 7th and 15th in UEFA Country Rankings, participation in this tournament was made almost impossible. and they were replaced by the champions of the poor leagues, because they do not want them to compete against the teams of the top 4 countries in the UEFA country rankings and they want most of the money to be theirs and the gap between the rich leagues and the poor leagues is now bigger than ever
Wow, never realised that the exact intro animation style has been changing every 3 years since 2003. It changed from sole stars in 2003 to an animated stadium with player scenes in between in 2006, to a stadium with rolled out banners in 2009, to a stadium with huge video platforms to show the player scenes in 2012, to a different "legend version" stadium with the former winners engraved and legendary players from past decades shown before the current player scenes in 2015, to a very different stadium (at least looking from the outside) after showing a beautiful view of a city, with the CL design building up in purple-blue around the stadium in 2018, to another stadium view from above the stadium in 2021. I wonder what we will see in 2024.
Gotta correct myself, the animation style has actually been changing every three years since 1997! And you can even extand that chain right to the start in 1992, with the intro style of 1995-1997 (the colosseum-like brown stadium) being the only exception, as that intro only went for two years.
One things it's sure, if I'm not wrong the ads board on the side of the field is changed from the old board without motion then turning to motion ads board around 2013 or 2014. Honestly I loved the pre 2014 ads board because it's so nostalgic when you're playing on PS2 or PS3
