Shadow's Calypso Monarch tune of 1974. This was when the trajectory of Calypso changed (shake up)- a respite from Lord Kitchener (The Grandmaster) & The Mighty Sparrow (Birdie). The Mighty Duke prior to this won the Calypso Monarch four (4) times 1968-1971- What Is Calypso (1968), Black Is Beautiful (1969), Brotherhood of Man/ See Through (1970/71). According to the Mighty Sparrow's interview on Calypso Showcase (1992) w/ Alvin Daniel- "If yuh could play Whe Whe Number 4 is dead man." 😂 😎 🇺🇲 🇹🇹
Professor Art De Coteau was one helluvan arranger. Smoother than silk. Sweet, spicy, tight, rythm-soaked arrangements. All in a class by himself. No other arranger did Shadow musically as did Art!
GOT THE CHANCE SEEING THE BASS MAN FROM HELL IN MANY YEARS AGO IN LONDON. I REMEMBER HE THROW ""CHARLENE""&""BASS MAN"" AT THE CROWD. WE WANTED A LOT MORE FROM HIM, BUT AS THEY SAY.....TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE. WE THE KAISO / SOCA FANS MISS HIM DEEPLY.
They seriously don't make them like this anymore. This kind of lyrics, arrangement, and orchestration is sadly gone forever
Didn't make them like that before neither.
He was an unrecognized genius.
@@1colinbShadow & Art De Corteau. It takes mad men to create sweet melodies 😂
Remembered this song from my trip to inter campus games in Barbados back in the 1970s.
Sweet Music...🔥
