UPDATE: New video is out! I did pretty much for the same for the AirPods Pro, and you can even buy the kit! th-cam.com/video/DBoQKGbL6Yc/w-d-xo.html shop.kenp.io
The issue with your "repair" and replace project.... it was now even more wasteful than buying a new AirPods case :D Apple know at least how to produce it efficient in mass.
@@harrison00xXx Tell me, when you were inside a classroom, did you voice your opinions? Or did it just start the moment you could do it anonymously on the internet? I'm pretty sure your opinions weren't supposed to leave your headspace because they haven't matured yet. A couple of reasons why I think that: - Mass production doesn't counter waste. Thinking it does gives out the impression you've lost your sanity. - Shipping over/buying a new Airpods case entails: Getting the raw materials (all over the world), manufacturing it in China (slave labor + child labor), packaging it for a long bumpy ride, Sending it over by plains,trucks,boats,... (carbon footprint), ... before it ends up at your door. - You've compared the things I've mentioned above, to creating your own case with materials you already have lying around on a machine you already own. I hope this makes you understand how ridiculous your comment really is. If not, good luck buddy... you're going to need it :)
@@harrison00xXx I am very happy YOU are saying that instead of a sane person. Also, great job on avoiding every single argument given. Shows real character.
"We are committed to reducing waste" paraphrased from Apple when they stopped selling the phones with the charger adding more trash from packaging and while still opting for replacement rather than fixing.
you know apple recycles this things right? it makes more eco sence to recycle old device and buy new one than to order 10 parts from around the world to make frankenstein device out of your airpods that will work extra 2 months and eventually break all the same, congrats you just created more waste for not much more benefit. Also newer devices have better features etc. apple recycles this things in millions their new devices are literally made from recycled aluminium, plastic etc
There will be critics saying: "Yeah but I don't have a 3D printer or spot welder -- and Apple is right that all this labor and these materials are more expensive than a new product" This is NOT about forcing every consumer to spend weeks in their garage trying to fix their own broken electronics! This is about allowing enterprising individuals to start repair shops, it's about allowing creative people to refine/automate the process even further so it becomes competitive, it's about eventually refurbishing/modding items in bulk with 3rd party kits. This effort, and fact that the schematics are open, is a giant leap forwards!
It’s the vision of a curious mind to create more opportunities for others potential but there’s either not enough people on the same mindset or a lot of us just have no way of connecting with that same goal in mind at the time. A lot of people lose motivation to put this type of effort into what they do so fast I’m assuming, so what they could’ve envisioned becomes clouded. It’s sad to think but it’s all the more reason for people such as him to put out his talent and inspiration to others
If the labour and material to repair damaged air pods is too much, how fricking cheap are they to make in the first place? If it takes a repair person who gets paid $40 an hour, 1 hour to fix the airpods, and replacement parts are a few cents, and it's still cheaper to replace the product, how does Apple justify charging $300+ Canadian for airpods? I actually know the truth, marketing and suckers. Right to repair doesn't matter to Apple fanbois, they've been marketed to, and bought in hook line and sinker.
The depressing thing about this is when Apple see this they won't go hey should we consider making our devices even slightly serviceable by having replicable batteries. No they'll go how can we lock out these repaired AirPod chargers. What extra hardware and thus cost can we add to this device to make it less user friendly. I own only 1 Apple product an 80gig Ipod Video which has Rockbox on so no iTines nonsense and I have zero interest in buying anything else due to this kind of thing. Although it's hardly like Samsung are selling easily repaired devices. I sound like Victor Meldrew.

@@jamesrruff Indeed I am, problem is free time. When I was a teenager, I had the time needed to learn this stuff... once you get a full-time job, kids, house, car, etc... there is always something that needs attention and leaves you with just enough time to brush your teeth and pass out at the end of the day. As you get older, every new thing you attempt means giving up something you are currently doing :(
I am 58 and upskilling. Electronics, pcb design, 3d printing, low level coding even. It's fun! But yeah, I don't have to babysit all day. Wasn't that a woman's job? Oh yeah the enlightened young ones did away with that. Ah well, what's left is dreams of what could be.
it's impressive how such a tech giant is doing this and not being held accountable in any way. The process of making things reusable and not end up causing waste to pile up should start from the very source and be enforced.
Because the left, which touts to be the champion for the environment doesn't really give a shit about the environment. Majority of them are braindead zombies regurgitating what the MSM and their hero politicians are spewing at any given moment. One week it's a march for women, the next is for climate change, and the following is the women's right to healthcare. Amazing work. While these are luxury items, or toys to some, it proves why we need to keep fighting to pass "Right to repair" in as many countries as possible. These are designed as disposable technology, it is wasteful and damaging, not to mention annoying. Keep up the great work.
I find it interesting how we're talking about this while Apple, along with other corporations, outsource labor to the CCP that utilizes Chinese Uhyger reeducation through labor camps (often with rape and torture) in order to strip them of their Muslim ethnic background and make them more accepting of Chinese authority. Don't get me wrong 'right to repair' is really important. But Right to... * checks notes * Human Rights is a little bit more fundamental, and I think it's insane how it isn't talked about and railed against more often.
People like you give me hope, that one day we will be able again to repair everything. We only need more open spaces with help to actually do it. When I see your workshop, there is much I don't have at home and would be great for a shared community.
bro? yeah it's ecological concern, when your airpods break you can take them to apple and they will recycle it for free and you can buy new ones? I don't get it where the problem is, there was no extra effort batteries just naturally die :) it is cheaper to recycle millions of airpods instead of fixing them, this guy is just making money out of no problem -by seling repair kits + making yt video, its good entertainment but I see no logic to your comment. you are wrong in every point 1) no apple doesn't care about natura they don't include chargers cus its cheaper and 2) no they don't do extra efort so its needlessly disposable it is just better to buy new ones that are better, newer,... apple makes money, you get better product and old ones get recycled instead of makign a frankenstein device that will work exstra 2 months

@@bekerashes Oh yes, we can, and we do. Unless the Americans dismantle the Corporate State, the country is doomed. There is no democracy when politicians - Presidents and Congress - are beholden to their corporate masters. These Wall Street Robber Barons spawned the corporate coup and the machinery of State Terror. The Americans will continue to pay - yet more and more - for their complacency: for believing all they need to fix their world is the right vote. The will continue to pay for looking the other way when the government is caught decade after decade managing the international drug trade, running pedophile sex rings, for toppling democratic governments and installing criminal despots & dictators, and for operating as an international criminal cartel. The Americans are Trapped like Rats in a Cage. Voting changes nothing when the system is nourished by corporate monopoly graft and overruled by the National Security State. In short: The U.S. Is an “Oligarchy With Unlimited Political Bribery” Corporate bribery of politicians is legal in the USA What else can we expect? Every Administrations top positions are for sale: Even under Trump, the man that caused insulin pricing to go from $10 to $400 became head of Health and Human Services; the coal industry briber is now the chief of the EPA; etc In the USA, drug pricing is a crime against humanity! For instance: generic Ibrutinib costs $86 in Australia. However, the same drug in the USA costs over $22,000 USD! Imagine the total cost to the patient requiring several rounds of Ibrutinib plus Obinutuzumab! Drug monopolies have (legally) bribed politicians [1] - And now use the powers of “life & death” to extort patients. Former president Jimmy Carter said on the nationally syndicated radio show the Thom Hartmann Program that the United States is now an “oligarchy” in which “unlimited political bribery” has created “a complete subversion of our political system as a payoff to major contributors.” Both Democrats and Republicans, Carter said, “look upon this unlimited money as a great benefit to themselves.” Carter was responding to a question from Hartmann about recent Supreme Court decisions on campaign financing like Citizens United; and later McCutchen, 569 U.S. 88, 133 S. Ct. 1537, 185 L. Ed. 2d 654, 81 U.S.L.W. 4236 (2013), which greatly expanded political bribery by corporate monopolies & billionaires. [Also Buckley v. Valeo, the landmark case involving the constitutionality of the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 (FECA); and, First National Bank of Boston v. Bellotti, 435 U.S. 765 (1978), is a U.S. constitutional law case which defined corporate bribery as a free speech right of corporations!] Transcript: firstlook.org/theintercept/2015/07/30/jimmy-carter-u-s-oligarchy-unlimited-political-bribery/

Excellent work! There is much to love about Apple, but their habit of waffling on about how environmentally friendly they are while simultaneously going out of their way to design products so they cannot be repaired or even have the batteries replaced is unacceptable. Apple has the might that other companies don't have to push the entire industry toward more environmentally responsible production. Projects like this are a great way to dismiss Apple's claims that they are doing their best.
I went into an apple store about my 12 mini because the battery is crap. Instead of a replacement under warranty they waffled on about ‘habit changes’. I honestly hate this company. I only got it cuz the small screen. Might move back to Samsung…
They're also fairly easy to hack (hunter biden, anyone?) overpriced to hell and back, and _pretend_ to have data privacy features. Air Tags, more than any other product they gouge you for, are the most antithetical to the very concept of privacy itself. They're literally "always-on" tracking devices

10 million views for this vid! And I truly hope there will be a big aftermarket community for airpods and similar things. The tech inside these little things is amazing (the chips) and we are forced to throw them away for profits? Heck no.

I’m just now seeing this video. From what you’ve shown and done for your case, and future people that need repairs, you’re bringing up this topic the in the most robust yet smart way for how much we need repairable tech. I’m glad you made you’ve made this not only a possibility, but able to hand out this help 👍👍👍
And this is why I’ve majored in Mechanical Engineering Technology. It’s videos like these that never fail to open my eyes to possibility, there are so many applications of engineering and design that it boggles me. Great stuff.
You introduced a new business opportunity to Apple for free and an inspiration goldmine to the rest of us. Resin printers usually give the better results so I prefer them versus the PLAs. I now have so many ideas since I have first gen pods and I think they will be discontinued in the next years. I like how compact (pillbox) they are next to the 2nd gen. Good vid!
Can you please design a solution for the Apple Pencil 1 and 2? There's no way to replace their battery without destroying their case. They're also wonderful devices, with instant response time, and it such a waste discarding them after the battery dies.

@@JoshMutia If said company makes airpods: yes; but if that company makes their own product apple wouldn't have any jurisdiction. But we'll probably never see earbuds with repleacable battery, because that could only happen with a niche company that nobody cares about, meaning that the product will most likely fail (also thanks to the increased price, due to the fact that they are from a small company).
I love everything about this. Well done. It’s not just AirPods but most wireless ear buds are designed to be ‘disposable’ once their batteries lose capacity. I haven’t found one that I’d buy yet. Will just have to keep fixing up my AirPods repeatedly. Btw What microscope is that??

Please encourage people to start businesses using this solution (and inspiring them to find more solutions now that you've shown it's possible).
You’re awesome for doing this. While companies like Apple make fantastic products, it makes no sense that a user can’t repair (or have someone repair) the product they paid a lot of money for. You also raised a great point about the waste. How can these companies say they’re being environmentally conscious only to force consumers of their products to have throw away ones that could’ve been repaired.
it makes perfect sense that you cant repair. it means you HAVE to buy a new one. the only reason they say that its more expensive to repair than replace is becaus they made it so intentionally. fuck apple.
Meanwhile my first gen Galaxy buds can be easily opened and repaired, Apple does everything in their power for you to not be able to repair your own devices.
@@BloPsy_Actual I have a question though, are newer galaxy buds repairable or did they change them to be like the airpods, kind of like how Samsung phones became unrepairable just like apple phones
That's amazing. Have you thought about also doing 3d models for the buds? I think that would be pretty cool, since you could repair everything despite apple trying their hardest to make it non-repairable :)
Amazing job! Yeah those cases are the worse, I usually heat them up until they are soft and slide out the internals but that takes me 2-3 hours so I'm loving your idea!
Kudos! Very impressive work! And what a dedication! Apple should be ashamed of how they treat their customers and leave them ashore let alone all the negative environmental aspects they create with their intentionally unrepairable devices.
It's a must that I give you credit for what you have done. In a word...AMAZING! I would have purchased new AirPods. First off I do not have the know how to do such a fix/upgrade and secondly the equipment you have to accomplish it with is another thing. I would assume you already have had the 3D printer and the rest of the tools and what not to use on this project. Good going and a very interesting video.
My first attempt at fixing my daughter phone many years ago I broke the digitizer as I don’t have a soft touch. Your video gave me some inspiration for a new hobby perhaps 😎

You are really dedicated to what you do and at best know your craft very well. The amount of time put into is just incredible. Love how you focus on the need to make expensive tech repairable! Many youtubers would just make a cool case for the views but its a real problem that we are mining rare earth minerals to make this stuff we end up throwing in a a landfill.
This is the first video of yours I have seen, and you are awesome!! Totally subscribed and liked. Sadly and somewhat unsurprisingly, the closer you look at MOST things Apple does, the more shitty their choices truly are. People put them on such a pedestal, and then conveniently ignore the suicide nets on the buildings at apple assembly lines at Foxconn.
Love it! I appreciate the real, hard re-engineering work here, but I don't even dip a small toe into big A's ecosystem, Still there's plenty of poor, closed-areas in many manufacturer's areas. Great work!
I think they are reliable. Had non break. Yeah one because my dog bite it. But non break because of a drop or so. And they’re pretty cool because no dangling of the cables. The battery is charged pretty fast so it’s not that they’re not reliable. It’s that you’re not reliable charging them. (I mean you not personally but in general - non offensive) but I unterstand why you would buy wired ones
Thank you for sharing your innovative efforts to up cycle the Apple AirPod case. Did you cover the main PCB inside the case (as shown at 6:43 in the video) with epoxy or printer resin or was it that way originally? I assume that you might have done this to improve water resistance.
And I thought I was cool for soldering a loose wire back together in a drawing tablet. Great work tackling both the lack of right to repair AND proprietary cables.

Excellent job again! Keep it up man, I’m subscribing just because your paving the way to change the game and allow repair shops to work on stuff that’s designed to be monopolized!
Nope, forcing companies to homogenize all their ports is a dangerous precedent to set, and companies should have the right to make their product different
Hi, thanks for the useful video, I really like it. Is the newly printed case still unrepairable? I mean is still glued and can't be easily opened next time you want to replace the battery? I suggest printing one which can be opened using screws or something like that.
Very ambitious! And it gives a nice insight about the airpods. Well, opening the case and showing it to the public wouldn't even be allowed in Germany by patent law. But...where exactly is the environment protecting part in this process? You still throw away the broken parts, right? And the maker process is also not all clean. That's said as a maker myself. All sumed up, is Apple not doing the same recycling/upcycling as you did? But much more efficient. From old devices, they make new ones. And also improved versions. They scaled the process up. Yes, those closed devices are crazy, but wouldn't it be a more straight forward solution to not buy/consume those devices?
Ok so idk but this video has been on my front page for days now so I finally decided to give it a chance and I’m glad I did. You got yourself a new subscriber!

I opened mine twice without breaking them, (they are fully intact) sadly there are no replacement parts and it's all so tiny that you can't solder wires or sth. to the pcb. Ifixit has a great video about it, they used a vise to crack the glue open a bit, I just did it with my hands. Edit: I have the pros, they might be easier I think
Great vídeo. I'd LOVE if you could just embed the Airtag circuit on the case and have it be powered by the Airpods' case battery. Apple will eventually do it one day but you come from the future, you should do it first and show us the process+schematics!! 😏
Idk... there are cases out there of people using airtags to track people without their consent. That would make it much easier, you could innocently offer airpods to somebody and basically give them a tracking device
Reasons why someone should embed the Airtag chip within the Airpods case: 1 - We lose Airpods cases all the time and being able to find it would avoid thousands of daily "mini-heart attacks" on a global level. I'd say it's a global health issue! 2 - Lost Airpods cases contribute global waste problem since most people end up buying another case only to find the original one in an old backpack 2 months later 3 - The Airtag chip would be powered by the Airpods battery. Thus, there won't be a need to buy and throw away a disposable battery on an yearly basis 4 - Who in his sane mind "offers airpods to somebody"?!?! Even if a creep would do this to spy on someone, that person would be notified that an Airtag is following him and it would trigger the automatic beeping
Now this is innovation that excites, way to go! I bet if you look back on your project in a couple years you will have likely saved many consumers lots of money while also saving countless devices from becoming ewaste. Thanks for librating our AirPods from the Apple stranglehold of control!

@@ExploringTheSimulation You've made my day! Thank you for watching my film and for the compliment - I'm grinning from ear to ear! ✊Viva Right to Repair!
amazing! when my airpods pro case stopped working I had to wait months on Facebook marketplace for someone who lost their airpods to sell their case. Cost me lots of time and £40, or I could have got a replacement from Apple for £80. If you could make this available for £40 or less I think there are a lot of tinker-ers that would love this as a project. Same with the airpods themselves but perhaps that's harder?
I feel like it could be done for significantly cheaper if demand would make injection molding for the case and purpose-made bracket for USB feasible. I suspect the latter could be done with significantly less amount since the process doesn't really require nuts as threading can be done in the metal piece itself which would be then spot-wielded onto a generic USB-C port. I mean I've seen that sometimes threaded holes are simply sort of punched in a way that would leave extra metal facing inwards that would be used for extra threading. Although I don't really know how much tooling would cost for a process like this
@@ExploringTheSimulation If you need some AirPods for your research let me know. I have some gen 1 which only work for about 15 minutes anymore. As a designer it really makes me sad how Apple just does not care about repairability.
If you send back the whole AirPods, because you have no parts to replace, that produce less amount of ewaste, because Apple have specific robots to disassemble the devices (it's called Daisy for iPhone), so why that is better if you throw the replaced parts to your trash can..? How exactly generate your trash can less amount of ewaste, like the properly handled process?
It'd be cool if you design replacement shell for the case in such way that it doesn't require destroying to open, so next battery replacement will be easier.
Totally! That's kind of what I was alluding to at 2:50. I just put the idea our there, now a lot of things can be done! A new version with screws would be cool. Contributions to the GitHub repo are more than welcome. On the version you see in the video, the plastic teeth have been sanded down and I don't use glue. It just has a tight fit but you can remove it if you want to replace the battery again.
Thank you for the open source. Sadly in america... One can make these for themselves, and perhaps their immediate family members. Not my words, but Apples - and also the government in america. Simply attempting to sell something that is patented is sadly enforced as a felony in america. Even if a person never actually manages to sell one (in any manner), simply trying to do so is a crime. An example, having the item text listed and/or picture listed on any site and doing so from america.
Lol what? Do you know what the first sale doctrine is? It is legal to purchase a patented item, modify it, and resell it. Infact, if I took what you said literally it would be illegal to resell anything that is patented. I want you to go on ebay right now and look for preowned iphones. Are you saying these are sold illegally?
I have a used macbook that I got to learn MacOS for my previous job, since I would be working with it. I love the screen (retina screen) but when I had to get it repaired, I went to an apple licensed repair shop. I had a bad experience there, for a "cleaning and inspection" of my coffee spill. I turned in my laptop, and got it back, not cleaned at all (sticky keys which I had to pry off carefully in order to not break them, and clean under the keys myself. The bottom of my laptop has 2 missing screws now, and I could even still see dust through the vents on the sides. More like a "open it up to tell you that you'd need to replace all the parts for more than what you bought this for"
I do have 2 of them. I had a problem in pairing up my iPhone and I even ordered another one to work. Now these days they both do work on my iPhone. I have them on different key chains one in pink and the other with pink and blue. I bought 2 covers for my key fobs one in pink and one in blue. I think it is a good way for me in the mood for grabbing one or the other in what I’m wearing. When I used one of them a little bit that I will charge them up.

Hello
The issue with your "repair" and replace project.... it was now even more wasteful than buying a new AirPods case :D
Apple know at least how to produce it efficient in mass.
@@harrison00xXx Tell me, when you were inside a classroom, did you voice your opinions? Or did it just start the moment you could do it anonymously on the internet? I'm pretty sure your opinions weren't supposed to leave your headspace because they haven't matured yet. A couple of reasons why I think that:
- Mass production doesn't counter waste.
If not, good luck buddy... you're going to need it :)

you know apple recycles this things right? it makes more eco sence to recycle old device and buy new one than to order 10 parts from around the world to make frankenstein device out of your airpods that will work extra 2 months and eventually break all the same, congrats you just created more waste for not much more benefit. Also newer devices have better features etc. apple recycles this things in millions their new devices are literally made from recycled aluminium, plastic etc

There will be critics saying: "Yeah but I don't have a 3D printer or spot welder -- and Apple is right that all this labor and these materials are more expensive than a new product"
This is NOT about forcing every consumer to spend weeks in their garage trying to fix their own broken electronics!

[Why can’t we see the CIA JFK documents when a law was unanimously created to force their full and unobstructed release?]
There are so many corporate parasites that the host is dying fast.
In short: The U.S. Is an “Oligarchy With Unlimited Political Bribery”
Corporate bribery of politicians is legal in the USA
What else can we expect?
Every Administrations top positions are for sale: Even under Trump, the man that caused insulin pricing to go from $10 to $400 became head of Health and Human Services; the coal industry briber is now the chief of the EPA; etc
In the USA, drug pricing is a crime against humanity!
Former president Jimmy Carter said on the nationally syndicated radio show the Thom Hartmann Program that the United States is now an “oligarchy” in which “unlimited political bribery” has created “a complete subversion of our political system as a payoff to major contributors.” Both Democrats and Republicans, Carter said, “look upon this unlimited money as a great benefit to themselves.”
Carter was responding to a question from Hartmann about recent Supreme Court decisions on campaign financing like Citizens United; and later McCutchen, 569 U.S. 88, 133 S. 765 (1978), is a U.S. constitutional law case which defined corporate bribery as a free speech right of corporations!]

Dude your awesome. Props for the iPhone you made with the type c! Really your an inspiration bro
I enjoyed the hell out of this and was fascinated watching you work through these hardware issues
Ok so idk but this video has been on my front page for days now so I finally decided to give it a chance and I’m glad I did. You got yourself a new subscriber!
I would love to see you attempting to upgrade the earbuds themselves, I have tried to replace the battery’s but until now I had no luck, but I don’t want to waste them either.
I think in a year a 2 , Apple will "invent" thier own case with Usb-c , using your design, but all glued together and sterilized.
Using his design? ... You mean Apple's own design?
Wdym using his design😭🤣🤣
I think the new pros will be usb-c already
You are a genius of genius. Hatsoff to your work. You are the master. Haven't seen this type of complicated work before.
This is incredible! You're doing us all a service by reducing ewaste and showing others how it's done!!
I would 100% download an AirPods case. Awesome work 👏
This is an incredible video and what your doing is very important man!!!! Thank you for presenting this information the way you do also. There are a ton of "Iphone Repair " Kiosks where i am in California but i doubt they are doing anything CLOSE to this level of cohesive tech repair and pushing the repair space forward. Keep it up !!!!
The other day i was searching for "true wireless" earbuds and i remembered i wouldn't be able to replace the battery inside them and got IEM's instead, anyway, awesome work! Hopefully companies are forced to design products with right to repair in mind in the future
Wow! Having only just discovered you/your channel, I am beyond impressed by your skills & your creative approach to finding innovative solutions to these problems (intentionally created by "Big Tech" monopolies of course).
You have most definitely earned my admiration & respect, & so of course I have now subscribed & will be sharing your channel with everyone I know.
I pray you find continued success & prosperity through your endeavors, while simultaneously inspiring others (hopefully) to follow similarly creative approaches to solving these types of problems.
I get a real sense of optimistic competence (sorry, can't think of better ways to phrase it atm lol) from your energy, & find it/you to be immensely encouraging & inspiring.
Again, I will be doing my part to ensure that this reaches as many people as possible.
Thank you so much for investing your valuable time in sharing your ideas & your talented work with all of us!
Ich wollte nur sagen: Du bist ein (im positiven Sinne) echter Freak! Einfach großartig recherchiert und perfekt umgesetzt!
danke vielmal !
Amazing idea! It could potentially reduce tons of waste. You have shown a high level of skills designing that airpods case and also ethics sharing it OpenSource with the community for free. Thank you!
Luckily I have the exact same equipment in my garage! Seriously, this was very interesting and impressive.
@Exploring the Simulation
Well Done Mate !!!
You are doing Great Job.
Keep on the Good Job.
We Thank You !!!
Insane! Can you maybe look into a airpods Pro compatibility? :D
sure ;)
I opened mine twice without breaking them, (they are fully intact) sadly there are no replacement parts and it's all so tiny that you can't solder wires or sth. to the pcb. Ifixit has a great video about it, they used a vise to crack the glue open a bit, I just did it with my hands.
Edit: I have the pros, they might be easier I think
Yup slightly easier on gen 2 and way easier on the pros. Gen 1 is a nightmare.
Maybe heating the case too while working it would release easier too?
You’re doing great work. They’re so expensive and so unrepairable. It’s a disgrace. This is awesome stuff. Thank you
Great vídeo.
I love this idea, same for apple watch remote :D
Reasons why someone should embed the Airtag chip within the Airpods case:
1 - We lose Airpods cases all the time and being able to find it would avoid thousands of daily "mini-heart attacks" on a global level. I'd say it's a global health issue!
2 - Lost Airpods cases contribute global waste problem since most people end up buying another case only to find the original one in an old backpack 2 months later
3 - The Airtag chip would be powered by the Airpods battery. Thus, there won't be a need to buy and throw away a disposable battery on an yearly basis
4 - Who in his sane mind "offers airpods to somebody"?!?!
How is this an innovation? He took an Apple Airpods and then break it and swap with low-quality parts.
@@dcdrinks Thats not the point, he engineered an innovative solution to a an issue numerous people are facing. Low quality parts? It’s just a replacement plastic panel for the charging case. It’s not really any higher or lower quality than the original.
@@dcdrinks So by your logic any non-Apple part is low quality? Even the same ones that apple used but are sold online from different store/website?
To think that is dumb af, or just normal for apple shill.
I love the way u share ur projects without patents
Love the Casey Neistat reference 🙌
Great stuff you are doing there!!
I enjoy your projects
Thank you
I was wondering if someone would get the reference :) Nice!
@@ExploringTheSimulation i‘d be surprised to be the only one getting it 😉
Great job!
I will think about making more references in my own work too. Thanks for the inspiration

Brilliant work you’re doing! I made a little animation a few years ago covering this crappy design - it’s called The Death of Airpods if you’re interested.
Hi John, I've watched your video a few months ago. You're the one who's doing brilliant work!
@@ExploringTheSimulation You've made my day! Thank you for watching my film and for the compliment - I'm grinning from ear to ear! ✊Viva Right to Repair!
i am not sure which is more impressive, your knowledge or your skill, very interesting - Thank you
amazing! when my airpods pro case stopped working I had to wait months on Facebook marketplace for someone who lost their airpods to sell their case.
Cost me lots of time and £40, or I could have got a replacement from Apple for £80.
If you could make this available for £40 or less I think there are a lot of tinker-ers that would love this as a project.
Same with the airpods themselves but perhaps that's harder?
Thanks for sharing your story. I will also look into doing something for the AirPods themselves! Hopefully I come up with something simple.
Although I don't really know how much tooling would cost for a process like this
@@ExploringTheSimulation If you can do the same process with a airpods pro case i’ll happily be willing to do this
@@ExploringTheSimulation If you need some AirPods for your research let me know. I have some gen 1 which only work for about 15 minutes anymore. As a designer it really makes me sad how Apple just does not care about repairability.
Crazy to think about the sheer amount of ewaste the AirPods have caused.
Shocking amount of waste……well done sir …if nothing else you have proved that one man can make a difference
It'd be cool if you design replacement shell for the case in such way that it doesn't require destroying to open, so next battery replacement will be easier.
Anyway, thank you for the great job! Somebody should fight dirty capitalists!
More like a "open it up to tell you that you'd need to replace all the parts for more than what you bought this for"
it is definitely more economical for the vast majority of consumers to replace than to go through the process you did 😂
but it would be more economical to replace the about $20 battery if it was designed that way but it's purposefully not
He probably has $10,000 in equipment
Great job.... curious how much does all the equipment used cost?
What an amazing work you did with precision. Well done bro. 👏👏
