if you backflush the sawyer in the manner you described you will contaminate the filter. It will work to backflush but realize any bacteria you were trying to filter out of your water is now on the mouthpiece of the filter.
I would have to hike 45 miles and up over a mountain from work to home. No question that I would be spending part of one night outside. Here is what my get home bag has in it. I have a DD ultra lite Hammock system: hammock, line, tree huggers, detached bug net, small tarp, at 3 lbs. For hammock Matt I sewed 4 Wally World insulated foil hot cold bags minus the hard plastic handles onto a piece of polyester material and attached some Paracord to the end of the doubled material so I could attach it to the head of my hammock. The rough cut edges on the foil can be sealed with clear packaging tape. Make sure you tape each foil bag section to each other prior to sewing it all onto the polyester fabric. The fabric supports the foil and stops it from tearing, and the fabric supports the whole Matt from sliding down in the hammock when you get in it or when you move around. The tied Matt will move from side to side but you can get it under your shoulders and butt again. Lay only on the material side facing you, not the foil side Up, or you will tear up the foil under the weight of your body when you get in or move around. The tarp can act as an under blanket and to block the wind if not raining. Take some paracord and gather and tie each end of the tarp to just past each end of the hammock. I just need 4-5 hours of sleep, and we have plenty of trees to take shelter in on the way home, so the hammock is just right. I would also pack two 20 oz water bottles and Sawyer mini as we have a natural water source as well as stores along the way, and a bottle of Gatorade, Esbit stove, 6-8 tabs, lighter, GI Cup, Ramen, cliff bar, instant hot choc and coffee, 2 protein bars, a fork, and small bandana,. I will hydrate with one to two liters of water at work prior to setting off. I would wear a Togg frog Rain jacket and pants for stormy or winter conditions which is stored in my vehicle. I would also pack a thin light weight wool or fleece sweater, a wool or fleece watch cap, and two pair of dry socks with two food lion bags to put each bag over each foot and sock to trap warmth at night, especially if my sneakers became wet during the hike. I would also pack a Nylon rain Jacket for rain or to trap heat under or over another garment, and very small flash light and SAK, and a tiny package of OTC meds, 6 wet wipes. I would also pack three additional 15 round 9 mm mags for my Glock 19, tactical blade, a can of pepper spray for people or dogs and small binos. Hopefully the binos will help me see trouble and avoid it, like riots, road blocks, etc. I don’t need a map. But I do have a battery bank / flashlight that can charge my phone. Appropriate gloves for the season for tasks or warmth. I always have a ball cap and sun glasses in my vehicle. If the temps drop and I need warmth at night I will bring my woobie with an SOL double sized mylar heat sheet pinned to it. Place a small piece of clear packaging to the mylar before safety pinning it to the woobie on each corner. That’s as light and as compact as I can make it.
Great stuff your shelter setup sounds a lot like mine. Have you hiked this route yet? I would suggest modifications to the food supply especially in summer and carry. Ore water depending the availability of water on the route. To give you context I force marched 15 miles yesterday in 5.30 hrs over flat paved ground. I ran through nearly 3 liters of water due to heat and burned 14006 calories. My two day get home bag weighs less than 20lbs and my overall distance to travel is 43 miles. I would suggest cutting weight as much as possible and maybe investing in a blow out kit or a more robust general first aid kit that includes moleskin and antichaf balm. Keep up the good work you may need this sooner than you think
Suggestion: spare socks, shoelaces, map to go with compass, hand warmers for the upcoming season and work gloves. Can't really think of much else I'd add, you've got a great system there!
When I want 'covert' I tend to go with Kelty. The main disadvantage is none of them really have CCW built in. The main advantages to Kelty, they have a nice well-known civilian logo, generally no tactical functions that scream "guy with a gun", and they're pretty durable. If I need CCW, I have smaller bags for this purpose. I alternate between an EMDOM Baker Street and a SoTech Mission Go Bag, for CCW, depending on how much extra stuff I need to carry. The former holds more, but things can get lost in the many pockets.
@@TheSurvivalOutpost MAP 3500 in foliage. It's a great pack for blending in with normal people, because it's 100% non-tactical. It's about a 38 liter volume.
Thanks for showing us your pack, if it works for you that's all that matters. I do like the concept of combining your EDC pack with your GHB. Thanks for the video, keep them rollin'-
Yep it works good so far. Of course the GHB is going to be a bit different for everyone depending on variables such as distance to travel, environment, etc. Thanks for watching!

Excillent video my friend. The only think that i want to say is this. How about if ypu ad in the bag a night vision device. Its gonna help you mooving into the night when everybody is sleeping.Safer that way i think
Yep that's the advantage to the massive metro area I'm in. Nearly 1.8 million people. Tons of abandoned buildings, homeless camps, factories, old rail lines, you name it!
pros and cons to your area vs mine. for me I'd prefer to evac to the edges of civilization, not going in too deep to back country unless I had an actual retreat setup with supplies, etc.
I was wondering a couple of things. What is your pack weight? How many liters was that pack? Amazon doesn't know when or if the pack will ever be available again and it doesn't show up on the Blackhawk site. Based on this review, I wouldn't be impressed or interested in this pack, but everyone has different preferences. For instance, that first back panel you opened is a joke. There's no depth. Maybe slide some folded trash bags and a survival blanket in there?
I know it depends on the area you live in,but at least in urban/suburban areas(in my opinion)i don't get it why get home not 72 hr.bug out bags.People carry survival knives, various way to start a fire among other item's,,the whole idea to me,is to get home as quickly as possible, not to start a fire and possibly hunker down for a nights stay.Unless it's a grid down and you're a minimum of a 2 day or more walk, even in perfect(where no one bothers you) doesn't make since.Your getting home not bugging out.
My maxpedition sling has a similar concept. If we were talking grey man I would think this would still be a waste of money. A JanSport bag with cubes in my opinion would be superior. Good video!
Great video and good reasoning. You might want to add a space blanket or two in case of the shock that comes with major trauma...plus other uses. No real weight either. I also carry one of the keyring CPR masks.
hey glad to see your back. for water filtration the sawyer is great because the amount it can filter. bit if your in a more urban area you should look for a filter that can filter out metals and chemicals also on top of the standard filtration of bacteria and germs
add a space blanket to your med kit, it can be used for treatment of shook. Also put a copy of the SAS survival guide in your bag, information is all good to have with you.
I do have a space blanket tucked away in the pack, just didn't bother to show it. SAS Survival Guide is a favorite of mine, have one copy, couldn't hurt to toss in the bag, thanks for the input!
Great video. On the subject of things to add, I'd look at getting the following (just my suggestions and my opinion, everyone's different): *1)* Some sort of tarp (as even in an urban area you may not find shelter already in place). *2)* A HAM-type radio like the Baofeng UV-5R or BF-F8/F8+; it serves as a weather radio, police/EMS scanner (check the internet for your local frequencies), and a two-way radio in one, plus if you have a HAM license you can communicate on other frequencies with people across the country in the case of a natural or otherwise disaster). *3)* A better water filter. Don't get me wrong, the Sawyer Mini is awesome, but it doesn't filter out some things like metals and some chemicals. Take a look at the Renovo Trio filter. It's just a tad bigger than the Sawyer, but it filters out pretty much everything lol. *4)* Some sort of easy-to-prepare meal, like MREs, Mountain House, Backpacker's Pantry, Mary Jane's Farm, etc. Just in case you get stuck for longer than planned, a full meal or two is a good supplement to those snacks you already have. *5)* Small-form-factor gas fuel stove, like the ones by MSR or Olicamp, along with a small canister of fuel. Since this is a more urban-oriented bag setup, a wood stove is pretty much out of the question. Also, the fuel canister can fit inside the SS cup mentioned below to take up less room. *6)* A stainless steel water bottle or canteen, along with a nesting cup/lid setup. Any water bottle is a good water bottle, but a stainless steel one is best. That along with the nesting cup, lid, and stove will allow you to cook the aforementioned meals, along with the ability to boil water in case you run out of the purification tablets, clog the filter, or God forbid, both.
32 oz Nalgene or 40 oz Klean Kanteen fits just about perfectly in a GSI Glacier cup/pot. A 64 oz Klean Kanteen fits perfectly in the Olicamp LT or XTS pot. And last but not least, the most expensive option (only because it's made from titanium and comes as a set with the canteen, cup, and lid): Heavy Cover Titanium Canteen Mess Kit. It's like $150 for the kit, but I'm sure you could find a coupon code somewhere lol.
Do you have a Facebook? Gonna insert a shameless plug for a FB group that I'm in that would help you out with other setups that I probably don't know about lol. Best prepping/survival (and a little bushcraft) group out there IMO. And no, Chris Tanner (PreparedMind101 here on TH-cam) didn't pay me to say that haha. facebook.com/groups/meetingofthepreparedminds/
Might consider putting a ballistic plate into the backpack, that way when you swing it around to access your weapon you have a bullet resistant/proof plate over your stomach/chest area.
Instead of velcro patch panel, it would be great to have away to put a level III plate. That way you can turn your get home pack into a modular plate carrier @TheSurvival Outpost
Good video, thanks for posting. I would only add two more things. Another water bottle, and a Bako Laplander saw. I know, it's a 24hr. get home bag, however, where I live the ability to quickly use a small could be a great help. Ten bonus points for you and a gold star for the day for including a Silcox key. Seems to me no one knows what one of them is or why or where you'd use one. You keep up the good work and Happy New Year.
Thanks I appreciate the support! Couldn't hurt to add the saw and extra water bottle. The Silky Pocket Boy is my go to, but I also have a Laplander, both good saws. And yes if you don't have a sillcock key in your urban gear, you're losing out on access to major water sources.
Not disrespecting the hard work you are doing but I believe that title should be changed. I see nothing in your environment that constitutes "urban". Good usage of tools in the admin pouch. Not sure how I feel about the laptop and your sidearm in the same pocket and can you access the the weapon in 3 seconds and under (rule of three) and where was your second magazine? Energy, good advice. I would recommend a bank with much higher Mah per hour. Steiner, OUTSTANDING choice. Always have a MedKit, great advice. Always have more than one tourniquet. The more the merrier, YUT! Water filtration in an urban environment? Again, the title is misleading. Silcock key is the way to go. Chemlight is a go. Second light, right! Two is one, one is none. Again, fire kit in and urban bag? Nothing is better then a Ranger Band. Great video. No money? Lock picks? Keep up the great work.
It's a very much urban environment, about 500 meters from my position is a large 4 lane highway. The area I filmed in is an abandoned amphitheater that has been overtaken by nature. About energy, I have a Dark Energy 10,000 mah battery bank but chose the smaller Anker to save space. Can't go wrong with Steiner...ever :D I agree about having an extra tourni! Lock picks are a good idea, check out my Urban Vulture kit to see a full blown urban kit designed for scavenging. Thanks for the support!
///Always have more than one tourniquet. /// ...and what are you going to do in a grid down SHTF situation after you have used them? Call 911? Are you hoping it will be that special kind of SHTF situation where the emergency services still go to work?
Pine needle oil smoke and mud are great for mosquito repellent. Sun screen isnt a bad idea, or you could wear lightweight long sleeves and hats to protect your skin
I've been into bug-out gear since I was about 12. I need a pack design to travel across multiple states due to current living situations. If you could give some pointers and bag ideas thatd be great
Sounds like a little challenging...having no idea of your living arrangements or budget, if I had to bounce around from state to state, I would have a large duffel bag for my clothes, toiletries, etc. Then I would have a full size pack like my ExoMtn Gear 3500 to store all my survival gear, including a week food supply. Then I would have a small EDC bag with my electronics in it, edc tools, etc. Of course I'm assuming you have a vehicle..
@@TheSurvivalOutpost I planned to do it on foot/watercraft... from Oregon to Tennessee. I plan on going east until I hit the Missouri river, which branches in the Mississippi river. Mississippi river runs right next to my family Rivers are fast and ought to be abundant in food.... my only problem would be other people
Great review on a great pack. Wish I would have seen this before I bought a more tactical one. I would only say you should keep your trauma gear easier to access. Seconds count with severe wounds. That is why you see many kits where tourniquet is on out side of IFAK.
Great point about the trauma kit. The only location for it right now is in the main compartment, but I'm considering adding an attachment point so I can "hang" the IFAK inside that compartment where I'm keeping my water bottle and rain gear. Would be very easy to grab if it was stowed there. Thanks for watching!
I doubt that you can get good seal to use squeeze bottle with cap to actually back wash the filter and the syringe is also good for irrigation of wounds. Also your fire kit matches and lighters not good in cold wet wind. Nice video and one thing you could do is use condor pack insert to put survival stuff in to make your edc become ghb. See preparedmind101 video about it.
Great points...I tested with three different caps, was finally able to get a good seal with the last one I tested with. When trying to start fires in windy conditions, you got to have some kind of wind break not only to get fire started, but to sustain your fire or your spend your life stoking it. I'll check out that pack insert, thanks for watching!
Great video! Very thoughtful, well-organized set up. In terms of things to add, someone pointed out the value of an ultralight stove recently, which I had not previously considered for a GHB. My own recommendation would be weather radio and a walkie talkie/two-way radio if you have loved ones you need to coordinate with.
Great idea on the two way radio, I'm typically close enough to home that I could probably get contact with a decent line of sight. Thanks for watching!
The Survival Outpost Thank you for doing all these excellent videos! The utility and necessity of any piece of gear is so dependent on our specific environments and conditions. That too might be a video worth addressing - context-specific preparedness.
Absolutely, your kit is mission specific. That's why I go w/ the line system, you might like this write up on the concept I did a while back. blog.thesurvivaloutpost.com/how-to-organize-your-bugout-gear/
I agree, I've since retired this pack as my primary, the conceal carry pocket ended up being too much of a pain to access quickly. Link to the blog post with all the details: bit.ly/GetHomeBagSurvival
The Survival Outpost you need to be the first to do a video on an urban bag in major city. For example, living in downtown Chicago, you have lighters, dry foods, and water at literally every block. All this can be bought at the moment of an emergency with cash. So if an emergency does strike, shouldn't your get home bag have more rare items?
Other than the conceal carry compartment There’s nothing special about this bag, especially for the price. Kelty packs are just as good for a get home/edc/ grey guy bag yet far cheaper. Very good video presentation
It's not a ground breaking design, but it's solid and has held up well over time, despite getting extreme usage. Kelty Redwing 32 is a good pack, with a price point of $99.95 (amzn.to/2D7JZQe) If you can find it, the Kelty 3500 MAP is an excellent choice, choice of SF guys. Average price is $110-145. Glad you liked the video!
If you have a weapon... Where is your armor ? My Go Bag/Get Home Bag is the Maxpedition Tuxedo Laptop Backpack bag that fits a 17" or smaller laptop ! The large inside pocket fits NIJ Level IIIA Backpack Armor to provide more padding for the laptop ! tjl
IF you are willing to put out enough $$ for maxpedition check out Vertyx (might not have spelled it correctly, going from memory from ALOT of vids ago) they had some great conceal carry packs that don't stand out in urban environment.
Hey great video.. not sure if anyone addressed this but there are some great scanner apps for your phone. spend some time searching around to find out which works best in your area with your type of phone. its one less thing to carry but may drain your battery. also as far as concealed carry packs you have the usual maxpedition (i have the sitka), 3vgear (i have the posse and the vellox ii) and cannae is a new-ish brand that i believe has concealed carry. I don't own a cannae bag yet but its on my list.
The Sitka is a small bag, much smaller than yours with the dimensions at 15 x 8 x 3-Inch for the main pack and i've seen it listed at 10liters give or take. There is the 3vGear Outlaw (i have the posse i mispoke and edited it above) that is a "cheaper" version of the Sitka. The Sitka has been discontinued for a new line which is probably for the best. The strap loosens all the time, the bag is uncomfortable if you pack it relatively full and it doesn't hold a lot to begin with. I use it for a lunch bag and minor EDC with a few odds and ends (medicine, flashlight, basics like that). As far as my lunch goes its either a sandwich/canned good/or a frozen meal (pick one not all 3) along with a soda, a basic 16 oz water and a few snacks and it's full. Only upside is there's a spot on the outside for a reusable coffee/water bottle. The 3vGear Posse is also able to switch the strap to either shoulder depending on which you want to use, maxpedition doesn't allow this. I am guessing the outlaw would do the same. If you don't have the best shoulders (like myself) its not a great bag to use. I have only had it for the summer so i am thinking this winter it will be more comfortable with more clothes on padding the shoulder. Although the material is top notch even for made in China. Something i would buy again? definitely not.
Nice video. That is a lot of stuff to carry everyday. I prefer to carry a Maxpedition Fatboy with the basics, including a firearm and first aid. I have a defunct Marine Corp. medical bag in my truck that has everything else for getting home. I am a firefighter/First Responder, so I have the EMS go bag too. Gotta save my back.
Thanks for watching, it may seem like a lot to carry, but only weighs about 14lbs fully loaded, that's including the laptop and lunch bag. I've seen those Fatboys before, need take a closer look.
I like the Fatboy Versipack, but it is a little shy on space and I would like more molle webbing outside to clip a 2-way radio, F.D. pager, and a Ka-Bar TDI blade. I've bought a number of bags in past, but but I keep going back to the Fatboy, despite my negative comments. Maybe should have gone with the Jumbo Versipack, which has a lg. pouch for a water bottle or other gear. They come in less tactical colors, so you aren't going to draw attention if you're walking through the city. One more thing I will say, you get what you pay for! Trying to save a buck by buying the crap on eBay isn't worth it. And, if I'm truly going to be hiking any distance, I do want a backpack like yours, not shoulder bag. Keep up the good work on your videos. Great job.
Yeah if I was closer to home on a regular basis and didn't carry the laptop, I would probably go smaller like the Versipack. I agree 100% about not skimping on gear quality. The cheapest I've bought is 3V Gear which isn't terrible quality, decent enough but not suited for hard use. Gear like Blackhawk, 5.11, etc have never let me down. Now I will buy mil surp on Ebay, but not civilian packs/bags that I don't know much about the company or quality. Thanks again for the support!
I'd add some toilet paper. Even in a non-emergency scenario you can stop at a public rest room and find it out of T.P., it's happened to me before. A painters dust mask could come in handy if the situation is similar to 9-11 in NYC or a forest fire, either could be putting bad things in the air.
+The Survival Outpost lol. it was a video one, and I actually watched it because it didn't appear to be one at first. They were talking about how you can't have a lot of nomal things on campus,(at this I'm like this is going to be a bull shit anti gun thing isn't it?) then they handed the people guns and said that you can have them. they all acted like they were disgusted with the fact that you can have ccw on campus (it was at this point that I sighed with lack of faith in this generation, even though I'm only 17 lol) I genuinely what to know what these idiots would do if someone walked into their classroom and started shooting people. they probably would say "You can't have that here! this is a gun free zone! how did you even get in here with that...that THING didn't you see the no weapons allowed sign outside?" and now I honestly regret giving them one more view because I didn't know what it was at first, lol. Sorry for such a long answer.
After watching this video twenty times the family is pleading with you to make more content to keep peace here at the homestead. I enjoy your videos, but I am sure you know that by now, what is your next video going to be on? Take care my friend -
Thanks for the support, much appreciated! Got tons of content for videos, it's just hard finding time since this is not my full time job :) But got a video on the Line System coming out this week and then followed up by Version 2 of my INCH gear.
Excellent question, maybe down the road, we'll create some premade bags. But for now, I'll be creating a blog post on this which will have links to purchase the pack and all items shown in the video.
Thanks for the great videos! I have a question and a suggestion: What brand is the luminous compass in the video? I like it's size and functionality. One thing that I would add to your kit is a pair of leather gloves. I think their functionality would be invaluable and they could reduce annoying and possibly dangerous cuts and scrapes on your hands. Just my two cents. Keep up the good work!
Don't discount the cell phone. Even during large scale natural disasters I have experienced here in Florida, I was able to get cell service for at least sending text messages and viewing emergency bulletins.
There are multiple apps out there for communicating as well, they work over the internet and don’t rely on carrier network, and there is also GPS/nav purposes that good still be usable, and then the obvious, pocket library use
seriously get the bison jerky from amazon, guys; I got two for four dollars at Whole Foods today, which was the only other place than Vitamin Shoppe that retailed them. I think I saw $1.44 a pop if bought a box at a time from amazon.
I just watched a video of one of their packs. Really liked how they designed main compartment with the removable dividers. Might have to pick one up for testing.
You have a good set up, yet I'm a little confused. (Nahh not really, just being provocative and thinking out loud. ) In the video you mention its a 24 hour bag. In the comments you say its set up to get you home from work which is 2 hours away. Is it a 24 hour bag, or a 2 hour bag? If its a 2 hour bag, do you really need the fire lighting ability? What scenario would you need to light a fire in that time frame? (Me I carry fire lighting kit with me every where I go, even if its to the local shops.) If reality dictates its a 24 hour get home bag, then that covers the times you might be further away from home or something has happened which means its going to take a long time to get home. In that case I would I would add a large plastic garbage bag, pair of gloves, some emergency money, coins and notes ( access a vending machine ), tin cup, some more food, and something to make a hot drink or two, scarf and woolen vest. During that time you would need to factor in some sleep / rest and the bag would make for a rough shelter, temp ground sheet, sleeping bag, poncho etc. We have a get home bag in each of our cars. While my wife works 15 minutes from home and I do local voluntary work its there to get us home no matter where we are. That includes the time their may be a big traffic jam on the freeway because of an accident and we can at least make a hot drink and have a feed.
Now that you mention it hahaha, yes I can see where that would seem contradictory. My thoughts go like this - the GHB is designed for a max of 24hrs without resupply. Sure it can only take 2hrs to get home, but it could easily take longer depending on the situation. Building the bag out for 24hrs giving me a bit of breathing room. If it was only 2 hrs I was concerned about, I'd probably not even have a bag, just first line gear including a jacket.
Thanks. It's always a challenge to decide what to take. And regarding food, as you said, you normally do take lunch to work with you, the other supplies is extra.
You only have a single bag for your filter, are you planning on back flushing with a dirty bottle? Why is the cap on your dirty bag being contaminated? Most everything in your bag belongs in your pockets not in a bag. Why is your weapon in a bag and not on your person?
Lots of questions :) First disclaimer old video, skills have evolved #1 You don't need to constantly back flush your filter unless you are sucking in water with debris. Why carry it then? Prefilter to remove debris first. #2 Not sure what you mean about the cap #3 Yes now I carry more on my person #4 Because it doesn't conceal well under a t-shirt and I was demonstrating/testing how that CCW compartment worked. Turns out the compartment sucked for quick and effective access...no longer use this bag. If you want to see an updated Get Home Bag...check out this video: th-cam.com/video/rVUKK5gmZUE/w-d-xo.html

Love the fire / water pouch. Basic and to the point. Going to use this, thank you!
Thank you sir for some good ideas. I like to look at several folks packs so I can see if there's anything new I should have.
That's the idea, we're all here to share and get some new ideas.
Try this, take that out, that's 2 heavy, that didn't work, but I'm gonna try this,,,, it's a constantly changing process,, just when U think U got de perfect set up,, BAM new idea 💡!!!! LOL..🚲..
if you backflush the sawyer in the manner you described you will contaminate the filter. It will work to backflush but realize any bacteria you were trying to filter out of your water is now on the mouthpiece of the filter.
nice everyday carry. thanks from a new sub.
Thanks, glad to have ya onboard

Thanks for the input...I'll be doing a few upgrades for the cold season, appreciate the support (Y)
Used to have a Kelty pack but haven't used one in a while. Which one do you have?
@@TheSurvivalOutpost MAP 3500 in foliage. It's a great pack for blending in with normal people, because it's 100% non-tactical. It's about a 38 liter volume.

I really do want to add NVGs to my kit, but haven't been able to fit a pair that fits my budget
gold bond, and zip ties. easy to add, take up no space, and keeping certain areas dry if you have to do some walking is a must.
Yep, both great additions, thanks!
Back east you have all of that urban waste land that makes for great footage. We just have wilderness. It changes things a lot.
Yep that's the advantage to the massive metro area I'm in. Nearly 1.8 million people. Tons of abandoned buildings, homeless camps, factories, old rail lines, you name it!
The Survival Outpost If I bugged out here I'd immediately be in the mountains. This is not a complaint, but yes.
pros and cons to your area vs mine. for me I'd prefer to evac to the edges of civilization, not going in too deep to back country unless I had an actual retreat setup with supplies, etc.
I liked the way you kept it light, great back pack. I already have the 100% bison and the honey and peanut butter in my amazon cart. Kudos!
Awesome, you'll love that stuff, I had to order a couple more boxes, my wife and kids got into my supply :D

Overall I can’t suggest this pack. Seemed like a good design but after extended use, I prefer a pack from Vertx or 5.11 Covrt 18

It does depend on the area, but overall a beefed up EDC kit can get you home no problem. Or just EDC kit + extras you keep in your vehicle.
My maxpedition sling has a similar concept. If we were talking grey man I would think this would still be a waste of money. A JanSport bag with cubes in my opinion would be superior. Good video!
Jansport is very low key book bag, would work as well. Just depends on your preference, thanks for watching!
Great video and good reasoning. You might want to add a space blanket or two in case of the shock that comes with major trauma...plus other uses. No real weight either. I also carry one of the keyring CPR masks.
Good idea, Lord knows I got enough of them laying around!
hey glad to see your back. for water filtration the sawyer is great because the amount it can filter. bit if your in a more urban area you should look for a filter that can filter out metals and chemicals also on top of the standard filtration of bacteria and germs
Great point, water quality is probably much worse in the urban areas. Thanks for watching!
that bag you plan to back flush your water filter with I've heard they can't take much pressure. careful not to pop it if you squeeze too hard.
Haven't had that issue yet, but it's quite possible! Thanks for the heads up (Y)
Some good stuff thank you for the video.
Thanks, glad you liked it!
add a space blanket to your med kit, it can be used for treatment of shook.
On the subject of things to add, I'd look at getting the following (just my suggestions and my opinion, everyone's different):
*1)* Some sort of tarp (as even in an urban area you may not find shelter already in place).
Great input, much appreciated. Never heard of that water filter, will check it out. Got any suggestions on a nesting cup style setup?
Great group, been a member for some time now. Thanks again for the input!
Might consider putting a ballistic plate into the backpack, that way when you swing it around to access your weapon you have a bullet resistant/proof plate over your stomach/chest area.
Def a nice to have item, good idea
Get a look at the Vertx EDC Backpacks. They are great as well
Thanks I'll check those out!
Instead of velcro patch panel, it would be great to have away to put a level III plate. That way you can turn your get home pack into a modular plate carrier @TheSurvival Outpost
That's a great point. Would be nice feature to add, thanks for the idea!
I would consider a light weight tarp in case cover is needed
Why not add an SBR with a Law Tactical folding stock adapter? Not much weight and adds a great level of protection.
The only thing holding me back is $$$ :D
Great info. Map is a good idea and scanner/radio
Thanks, glad you liked it!
Just ordered a LBT INC "Go Pack" to serve as my get home pack/Conceal Carry pack.
LBT makes some great stuff, well worth the price!
...and what are you going to do in a grid down SHTF situation after you have used them? Call 911? Are you hoping it will be that special kind of SHTF situation where the emergency services still go to work?
It's good, maybe some radio would be sometimes usable too.
Yep radio is going to be added in the near future.
Great bag! I'd add bug spray and sun screen.
Good idea!
Pine needle oil smoke and mud are great for mosquito repellent. Sun screen isnt a bad idea, or you could wear lightweight long sleeves and hats to protect your skin
Neat bag. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the support!
Good video, really been a month.got the basic covered and still have room in the pack for any extras.remembered weight is always any issue. Atb Russ.
Yep, time flies by eh? Thanks for the support, you see I put that DPM pouch to good use :)
Mississippi river runs right next to my family

Super!
The Survival Outpost Thanks again!
Great video! Love the camera angles and editing, nice work!
thanks, appreciate the support!
Access to the conceal carry pocket would be easier if they changed the zipper pattern. Also, a summary checklist in the description would be nice.
The large inside pocket fits NIJ Level IIIA Backpack Armor to provide more padding for the laptop ! tjl
Don't have the budget yet for backpack armor, but hopefully soon!
Maxpedition has been doing conceal carry packs for a long time.
Yep, I like some of their models, but haven't found one with a laptop insert compartment
Thanks for the info, I'll check into some scanner apps for my phone. How big is the Sitka as compared to the pack I have?
Nice pack set up not to much but just enough
Thanks for watching, I'm already planning out version 2
Thanks again for the support!
who makes the mini compass you carry in front pocket of your pack ?
Pretty nice eh? I got it from this crew, lots of good products: www.polymathproducts.co.uk/
I'd add some toilet paper. Even in a non-emergency scenario you can stop at a public rest room and find it out of T.P., it's happened to me before. A painters dust mask could come in handy if the situation is similar to 9-11 in NYC or a forest fire, either could be putting bad things in the air.
Hey that's a good idea, nobody wants to get caught without TP, good call on the mask as well. Thanks for watching
great load out brother love the channel some really great stuff to have at hand cheers !
Thanks, appreciate the support!
Nice video, and thats a pretty nice looking bag too

Cannae packs - well made, concealed carry, less expensive.
I'm buying one with my tax refund :D Just curious to see if it fits my laptop...
yet another great video :)
A black/navy blue rain cover would be suitable.
Fold a coffee filter and tuck it in for water filtration.
Good call!
you gotta add something to that med kit for your stomach man. some Imodium tums. pepto tabs maybe an antiemetic.

Nice video!
Something extremely ironic about this is that the add it played for me was some stupid anti campus conceal carry thing. Lol
I'm guessing you didn't click it lol, thanks for watching!
Lol, the "No Guns Allowed" sign always is a sure crime stopper. Criminals just turn and walk away!
The Survival Outpost Yep! Lol
have you considered the dragon egg pack?
Looking at those right now and the Vanquest lineup, going to be a tough decision!
Nice man, keep up the content. Have you checked out Vertx?
Thanks...and yes I have two Vertx bags. Top Quality.
check out alpha one niner evade backpack in case ya haven't.
Will do, I'm looking for a better option for EDC/Get Home bag. Thanks!
Thanks-
Great video - can I buy the bag loaded like you have it??
Excellent question, maybe down the road, we'll create some premade bags. But for now, I'll be creating a blog post on this which will have links to purchase the pack and all items shown in the video.
What's that city water key called? And where can I find one?
It's called a sillcock key, best prices are here on amazon: amzn.to/2blGJmj
Great video brother! you look like you have lost some weight, very inspiring! keep the videos coming!
Thanks bro, got more coming down the pike, thanks for watching!
Check out Polymath Products, not sure if they still have the compass in stock at the moment - stores.ebay.com/Polymath-Products
Also where can I get the shirt that you are wearing?
Check out www.zerofoxtrot.com
I would add some wet wipes and hand sanitizer...just sayin, might have to drop a deuce on the way home.
real talk right here
Great video! Maybe consider adding a cheap n95 mask?
Not a bad idea!
i wonder what that cell phone is going to help in a shtf situation. It want work.
Don't discount the cell phone. Even during large scale natural disasters I have experienced here in Florida, I was able to get cell service for at least sending text messages and viewing emergency bulletins.
There are multiple apps out there for communicating as well, they work over the internet and don’t rely on carrier network, and there is also GPS/nav purposes that good still be usable, and then the obvious, pocket library use
wow bison, where did you get that mate
It's seriously good jerky, get it here: amzn.to/2bihJlk
seriously get the bison jerky from amazon, guys; I got two for four dollars at Whole Foods today, which was the only other place than Vitamin Shoppe that retailed them. I think I saw $1.44 a pop if bought a box at a time from amazon.
Yeah it's a much better deal on Amazon. If you have Prime like I do, it's free S&H.
have you looked at vanquest?
I just watched a video of one of their packs. Really liked how they designed main compartment with the removable dividers. Might have to pick one up for testing.
Check out the Dragon-Egg backpack.
I've been looking at those, very nice packs for edc or get home, not sure if they have laptop inserts though.
The Survival Outpost - they do.
i like dat shit...keep it movin brother... reel talk.....

Yes he's got some good videos
+The Survival Outpost yes I do watch blacks scout suvival

That's a 4 way sillcock key - amzn.to/2bOaU6C
whats model of the bag?thanks
That's the blackhawk diversion: amzn.to/2skR5Qy
You have a good set up, yet I'm a little confused. (Nahh not really, just being provocative and thinking out loud. ) In the video you mention its a 24 hour bag. In the comments you say its set up to get you home from work which is 2 hours away. Is it a 24 hour bag, or a 2 hour bag? If its a 2 hour bag, do you really need the fire lighting ability? What scenario would you need to light a fire in that time frame? (Me I carry fire lighting kit with me every where I go, even if its to the local shops.)
If reality dictates its a 24 hour get home bag, then that covers the times you might be further away from home or something has happened which means its going to take a long time to get home.
I can always stand to lose a few lbs, gladly swap the snacks for an extra Glock mag or two :D
Isn't the idea behind EDC to keep it minimal? Why would you want to carry a man purse with a ton of crap in it?
Ahm... nope... it is not! ;)
Its a GET HOME BAG. Not just an every day carry.
that pack is pretty minimal man. some dudes in these videos have get home bags that have them prepared for the end of the world.
You only have a single bag for your filter, are you planning on back flushing with a dirty bottle? Why is the cap on your dirty bag being contaminated?
Most everything in your bag belongs in your pockets not in a bag.
Why is your weapon in a bag and not on your person?
Lots of questions :) First disclaimer old video, skills have evolved
#1 You don't need to constantly back flush your filter unless you are sucking in water with debris. Why carry it then? Prefilter to remove debris first.
#2 Not sure what you mean about the cap
#3 Yes now I carry more on my person
#4 Because it doesn't conceal well under a t-shirt and I was demonstrating/testing how that CCW compartment worked. Turns out the compartment sucked for quick and effective access...no longer use this bag.

Weapons are for offense not defense
Self Defense Devices are for defense not offense
Our elected officials knows the distinction between the two
Quality bait.
So when you've run out of matches, and lighters... That primitive bushcraft survival crap would have saved your life.
Nice kit pity most of the world can't conceal carry. Maybe in America self defense is more important.
not to bad. not too much junk
Thanks, I tried to stick to bare bones necessities.
no food?
Just snacks. It's only about a 2 hr hike to my house on foot, so I don't a ton of food for that short time period
10:54 and that stores some what documents ?
Just personal and work files.
