I definitely have gone through the same thoughts for London Frocktails. But I don't want to make something super fancy that I will only wear once. I have gone from I'll make a velvet dress, to I'm only going to wear jeans and a nice top, back to no I'm going to wear whatever I feel comfortable in. It's difficult to not get caught up in the hype. And then you end up not wanting to go at all. And no one will care really. They'd rather you show up as your true self, doesn't matter what you wear. ❤❤❤

Go enjoy the weekend in your beautiful dress. I’ve only just started making clothes recently ..often they have mistakes ..but I’ve decided I’m going to wear them regardless.. I like the fabrics ..I know they are sometimes far from perfect ..but so what ..I like them ..and what does it matter if others see the mistakes ..😊😊😊

I had a very similar freak out. I was invited to a wedding and was planning on making Vogue 9100. I bought dark red linen cotton mix, because I wanted to have something that will be nice enough for a wedding, but still wearable as a summer dress. Then I freaked out that the fabric wasn't going to be fancy enough. To put it in perspective, this was the first dress I was making for myself ever. I put a ton of time into making muslins and adjustments. I decided that I was going to make a bunch of ribbon flowers and attach them to the dress bodice. That wasn't my style, but I thought it would make the dress more appropriate for a wedding guest. Luckily, I ran out of time, so I wore the dress as is. I got a ton of compliments and people couldn't believe that I made the dress myself. I felt absolutely amazing in that dress! Your dress looks gorgeous! It looks fancy and floaty and very you. Enjoy the event!

I’m going to my first Frocktails event in Melbourne in November and have been so indecisive about what to make that I now have 3 different patterns and fabrics to choose from 😂. I’m going to NZ for 3 weeks and will only have 2 weeks when I get back to make my dress so I’m sure decision will happen 😂

I am going to Frocktails too and I really did question if it was worth the turmoil it creates. Of course it has to be worth it. We are all good enough whatever we wear. Yes, I also have had these insecure feelings you are not alone. I ATM find most women my age are jeans, trousers or dare I print it tights and because I love sewing and fashion and dresses sometimes I feel over dressed 😮 but then I think this is me if you don't like it look away.😂 Your a beautiful woman with out make up, and absolutely stunning with, your personality is you and I think your great, enjoy your weekend, you work hard and deserve it, regards Diana from NZ ❤🎉❤🎉🐸🐸

Have a wonderful time in your gorgeous dress. Yep I do the same and then realise the original was great anyway! 😂I actually used to enjoy the whole process including scouring around looking for an alternative, can’t do it anymore only because my RA makes me so tired. At least it saves a few bob. 😂

Can totally understand the whole doubting yourself thing but you look amazing in that dress and with the other dresses going wrong the original was meant to be. I too have doubts all the time about wearing things I've made I worry people will say what the hell is she wearing and I'm even conscious of uploading my makes onto my Instagram page...I take photos of my makes and think Debbie you look stupid and delete them...crazy isn't it.

Hope you enjoy your frocktails event. Your dress is beautiful. I think you’re right about our insecurities as sewists, it all stems from the learning process of sewing. It takes us all a long time to have the confidence to wear what you make. I imagine especially when having friends who also sew. You have nothing to worry about. ❤️ we are all our own worst critics 😊

Hi Bec, love watching your videos. I don’t know how you get so much sewing in while working your like a superwoman.
Little tips for failing eye sight it happens to us all. I sew both stretch and woven fabrics with a bigger stitch length. Makes it much easier to unpick when you have to. Try a light magnifying glass, you can see all you need to see. I need to do this too, maybe an eye check up for new reading glasses. Bad me I haven’t been for 4 years.

You will look stunning in your Holland Park dress the style suits you and you wear the style so well , sometimes an outfit can “wear us” and not the other way around and it’s only when you feel really comfortable in an outfit that you shine as a person so go out there and knock everyone for six. I completely get that feeling of inadequacy when going to a sewing event. We're off to SewFizzTeaCated in October and I am probably going to wear a yet to be sewn up avenir jumpsuit. I am already thinking that isn't going to be fancy enough. Why do we put ourselves through this? I think I have imposter syndrome 😂🥰 Kelly xxx

@@whatbecsews no exactly, the sewing community are only going to appreciate the fabric and work like nobody else could. Thank you. 🤞 We have both broken our ankles so I'm thinking the avenir looks good with pumps and if we're still wearing the boot thing it will fit under it. 😂
