A different video today, cleaning up the crusted coins. A lengthy process, but worthwhile nonetheless doing. Thank you for the different tour today, Brian. Enjoy your weekend, and see you on the next! 🙂👍🇺🇸
Hi Martin , I needed a video and my car is still in the shop. It was time to empty the coin buckets so I figured we could clean the coins up and get a video too . Thanks for watching .
Hey Brian good video. If you tumble the Pennie’s separately the clad will come out without the brown color. Not that it matters to coinstar but in case any are keepers.
Hi ridenflorida , thank you . It happens even if you soak them together with vinegar . I just wanted to empty my coin buckets for the new year and needed a video . It is best to separate the copper coins . Thanks for watching .
Nice results there, Brian! We need to tumble out our crusty lot soon! Would give us more to turn in. Warm days on the beach and better tides helping, but not were you would think the goods are!
Hello my friend. I’m glad to know how you cleaned the coins. The video was fun to watch. I actually learned something. I just wish I was able to find some coins. Stay safe my friend.
I have that same tumbler, I see other people use all these chemicals when all you really need is dishwashing soap. I was amazed at how clean most of my coins came out. Good , informative video.👍
Hi Brian. That car sure is taking a long time. The parts must be coming from over seas. I haven`t detected since I come down here this season. I`ve only been down to the beach once. I have been spending time doing a little work here and there. Weather has just been getting better here lately. take care till the next time.
Hi Rick , I just got Little Blue back on Friday . My mechanic is a very busy one man shop . He thought the compression was low on one cylinder . He had to wait till he could get time to tear it down. When he got back on it he found the compression was normal on all 4 cylinders . It was not a broken ring . He cleaned the injectors and flow checked them. Put a new set of ignition wires on and installed a new distributor I had bought. I had distributor problems in the past and I bought a new one figuring that was the cause again. It was not the problem but now I have a new one in the car and a good spare . Fresh oil and a filter too . $350 and she is back to running great . Now I can get back to the beach ! Thanks for watching .
@@idigdaytona4478 That`s not a bad price. I thought it was a little newer. You talking about the old distributer caps. Did he just give it a compression check? Well I know your happy to be back on the road. The season is starting up. Even though the water is a little cold. Happy humting and good luck.
Hi Rick , Little Blue is a 32 year old Toyota Camry . I had him put in a new distributor not just the cap . Had he known the compression reading was wrong it would have not taken so long . We thought he was going to have to tear down the engine and re-ring the pistons. Running perfect now. The water is cold but we have some nice finds on the way . See you out there .
I went with Thumlers Ultra Vibe 10 and strictly using Dry Sand for the Medium and I was using a Soap Combination to try and get everything cleaned up but I was always running out of room for the Coins to get dry and then I went with just a dry Sand and then I'm not running out of room for the Coins to get dry layer by layer, and now I just shake the Coins out from the vibration bowl and then off to the Bank ....
Hi Carol , I have always had barrel tumblers . I almost bought the vibrating tumbler but was not sure how well it would work . Good to know they also work on coins . Thanks for watching .
@@idigdaytona4478 well the reason why I went with the ultra vibe is that the Coins are not falling on top of each other and then possibly getting some more damage and then the only medium that I have access to is Sand and then I don't have a Hobby Lobby that is close enough to me to get the right stuff and then the Sand is cheaper when I have a Stream on the property that I use to get it and I can still use the other grit and water, but I don't have any kind of clean up with just using the Sand and a Colander to separate the Sand from the Coins and then a couple of shakes... and then off to the bank.... and don't get it at Harbor Freight it will not work like The Thumlers Ultra Vibe 10 and I Also have a Thumlers Ultra Vibe 45 and it's really Big enough to do a 5 gallon bucket of coins....
And I have just seen that MDgear did a video of the ultra vibe 10 and then it was 9 years ago and he talks about how the tumblers will be damaging the Coins and then pits the Coins from the damage of them falling on top of each other and the vibration machine will not do that....
@@idigdaytona4478 and it is and it will handle 45-50 pounds of material and per the instructions and then it's more of a Commercial unit than what you will get from Harbor Freight....
Roll up the crusty zinc cents and take them to the bank. You'll get nicer looking money for them. And they don't charge you like coinstar does. I roll up ALL the change I find. Makes it easier to take to the bank. And the bank likes not having to send the coins off to be wrapped up then sent back. Also the bank gives you the wraps for FREE! Just a thought. 👍💯✌
Hi Vinnie , I asked at my bank about the corroded pennies. They said they would take them . I figured at some point I would bring them a bag of them. I don't want to try and roll them . I will see what they say when they see them. I think they have a coin counting machine that would make short work of it . Thanks for watching .
Hi Mark , I couldn't my jar of ceramic medium . I found it after I made the video . I have broken them up in the past and it did very well. Thanks for watching .
Hiya Brian, thanks for sharing on how to get your hard found loot nice & clean, I was wondering would adding white vinegar instead of water make any difference on how the coins clean up, Anyways wishing u all the luck in the world on your next hunt, so please keep them coming GL&HH coming from Dulwich London England(✌peace✌)
Honestly, for the ones that have gone through the initial tumbling and remain rough I myself would simply rub them on a cinder block or sandpaper. The larger bulk of them are cleaning up very well though and that's impressive honestly. What happens with my crusty zinc pennies is I just rub them on concrete. They're only going to pass through my hands once 🤷🏻
I get by with just vinegar and a tablespoon of salt on the clad. Let them soak about an hour. When they turn gray, i polish with a small brass brush. Or you could tumble afterwards. We think we find free money but in the end, we earn it all.
Hi Arby , vinegar is very good . Most days that's all I do. Soak in vinegar and then hit them with a brush. Every now and then I use the tumbler. Thanks for watching .
If they have black tar on them, will that come off also? Will the bank still take them in crusty condition? Enjoyed the video! Never seen a rock polisher in action. 😊 👍
Hi Ziska , vinegar is very good as it is a mild acid. The baking soda will neutralize the acid in the vinegar. That's why it foams up when mixed together. I think the vinegar would work better by itself . Baking soda works well cleaning silver if you wrap the silver in foil and add baking soda and hot water. Thanks for watching .
Hi MAINELYDIRTFISHIN , you picked a good time . That's when the water starts to warm up enough for beach goers to get wet and Spring Break should still be going on .
