Hi Paul. Great video as usual, however in my view there are two challenges with this niche. Most of the crossword books on first page are either from major publishing houses like the various Newspapers and therefore well known brands or they are not KDP books at all as they are spiral bound. Secondly if you want your book to be unique then using someone else's words/clues is not ideal and you need to create you own; same also applies if you are targeting a small sub niche and that's where the time is taken up unless I've missed a resource out there...... But having said all that negative stuff, I would agree this is STILL a WORTHWHILE niche I went into it about 3 months ago and as an example I've sold 15 copies of one book in the last month in a small sub niche with NO advertising other than putting it up on Pinterest. Not massive but for my first crossword book not bad.
Thank you for sharing your research crossword puzzle books for KDP. The puzzle makers you noted seem great for targeting kids. I wonder if there is affordable crossword puzzle software that creates more complex puzzles. Something I’ll check out in the future.
I haven’t found any feee or low cost versions. Puzzlemaker does have a paid version of their software which may allow more complex crosswords but I haven’t used that.
You seem so relaxed on your videos. Maybe you might consider sharing the software you use and tips on how you make them! BTW I've seen many times on your videos, that you check out the top 3 books for sales rank by hovering over. What app are you using to achieve this? It looks super handy.

I thought you would like to know that before you go too far down that rabbit hole. I have already started using Crossword Labs because the $10 is worth it. Paul, a few weeks ago I started on KDP, Teespring, Merch by Amazon and Redbubble, our of pure lockdown boredom. I’ve uploaded planners, colouring books, games and so on, and I have 50 books on KDP and I’ve made £60 in just a few weeks. But, I never see anyone putting a copyright page in their books with the ISBN numbers given by Amazon. Every time I upload a book, I have to create a different copyright page, well, I have to copy and paste the ISBN from Amazon into each separate interior before uploading, or do I? Is it something I don’t have to do? Simply upload the interior without adding in the ISBN? Cheers, Steve

This is great, thank you, Paul. Offhand, do you know which software out there provides the LARGEST size of crosswords? I see some software packages that only have smaller crossword templates: it is my experience that even middle school aged kids can and will do large crosswords, and rather quickly, at that. Thanks!

I've visited Crossword Labs and I like it... but I can't see how you print and save the crossword with the solutions (like in many other propose so you can print them in your book too) ... unless you keep a copy of your own lists and give the lists as a solution... a little bit of a hassle because you have to number your lists, now. Is it how you do it ? Thanks for the insight :-)
Yes, I mentioned in the video that exporting them is a bit tricky. I’m the drop down list on the top right you chose ‘answer’ and it will give you the solution. Hope that helps.
Is there a course or a book you would recommend on being successful with KDP? I've published over 12 books and have sold very few over the past 3 years. I'm looking for a way to make at least $25 a month per book. I'm a graphic artist and a direct response copywriter so the production and sales copy is easy for me. But getting sells with KDP has been a challenge.
The course I originally bought is no longer available. I know a TH-camr called Stackinprofits has a course. I will be doing one but it will be a few months away.
It's just one of many ways of putting the interior together and creating the pdf file. You are not creating a PPT but using the software to create a pdf to upload to KDP.
My MacBook wasn’t up to editing videos. Too slow. So my son built me a superfast Windows machine. Was a bit difficult to move over but getting used to it now. I prefer Mac but too expensive for the configuration I need.
Hey paul, I'm confused. I'm not selling books in the US (I'm UK) even though I always make the US my main market. The last months sales have been 98%UK and very low compared to previous months. I know there's a covid message on the book report home page, but it's a bit vague. Do you have any decline in US sales? Or any idea what could be the problem? (I use US keywords also)
Do you have many books listed? I don’t know what the reason would be. Could be many factors. I’ve found the opposite in that my US sales have increased and UK dropped.

Yes, it’s a tough competitive niche but a potentially very lucrative one. I’ve not used Pinterest yet for my book’s but something I’ve considered.
I saw lot of videos by all make money online gurus and they are all 💩.. you are the only one who don't say crap. Its really useful

The biggest mistake I see is spelling mistakes on the book and in the title/ subtitle. I think that definitely puts buyers off.

The only ones I'm familiar with are in the video. I don't know which software would do the largest and be ok to use commercially.

There is no site as such for crossword clues. You have to think up the questions yourself. Or look at quizzes and reword the questions.
