Road bikes peaked in the mid 2010s. Nothing will ever change my mind. My forever bikes are my two CAAD 12s. Just recently moved over to DA 9070 di2 because it matched the colorway of my frameset and and Record EPS on my other CAAD 12. I figured I would try electonic sifting and I wanted the cleaner look. I will say, the shifting is much faster and crisper. But at the end of the day you DON'T need electronic shifting.

I agree almost entirely. Alloy frame and wheels. Mechanical group.
But, I do prefer disc brakes. They work better in the wet.
US$2.5k sounds like a solid price point to me.
US$10K is madness for most riders.
    Live long and keep pedalling

I got a KOM 2 days ago on a HC climb and there was a landslide at the top that had been recently removed. Mud slick on the corner. I hit the corner too fast and had to wash speed. 1000% would have crashed if I was riding road disc. Even with rim brakes my front wheel locked a little and slide a bit. Only 26 years of racing skill kept me up. I thought I was going down. 1000% would have crashed with road disc as the brakes grab WAY too hard for road race tires.
Second place was on road disc. Rim for the win!

My mindset is ride what makes you happy! If that’s the last eat greatest tech, go for it! If it’s down tube friction shifting and handmade steel , go for it! If it’s something in between, go for it! Just enjoy riding and respect others rider’s choices.

This is a nice bike for sure!!
And if you are happy with it and enjoy riding it then that is the most important!!
However, this would be consider like an aero frame (look at this saddle post) with aero carbon wheels with deep rims... So when you are saying you are not buying this marketing labels, you might not fall for the labels but you felt for those trends back then... But for sure there is a lot of new tech that are a bit unecessary...but if people are buying, they will keep selling it...
Have you really tried disk braking? I have both rim and disk brakes, I can tell you that on a wet rainy day when I am descending a twisted mountain road, I would not trade my disk brakes for anything... feel so much more secured and safer....
I saw few comments that new bikes is all about comfy compared to old bikes (2016, I won't consider that this old...) and I tend to agree, this is why they put the labeling aero/enduro/TT /gravel and so on for the consumer to know a bit more what the frame is all about. Not all bikes are feeling the same and it is a good thing that we are opening up the sport to all kind of rides and preferences.
Also not everyone has the same physical conditions and resilience for pain.
For me, the most important is that every cyclist finds his ride and is enjoying themselves each time they go out. You found your ride, stick with it and enjoy!
    Peace and ride safe

Yes. YES! I spent $800 on my rim brake carbon bike and it's nice. It has still only a carbon frame, I don't need carbon rims, handlebars and all.
Alloy rims brake better in the rain too, a lot better than most carbon rims. My handlebars also don't break easily (especially zwifting and sweat). So yeah.
Edit: your bike looks sick. The silver frame looks so awesome against the black wheels I love LOVE love it honestly!

I’m a big crit racer for racing disks are way better you can modulate and be very precise witch means draft better in and out of the corners save energy but that is it need for 80 percent of riders

      Performance inspired.
ALL the fastest riders in the world today grew up watching my TH-cam vids. Look at their cadence, sugar consumption and fresh faces. When you are OBSESSED with performance that comes from an early age and you seek the truth.
ALL WT riders would chose rim brake if they had the choice. That is why big bike all banded. together and cancelled rim.

Look at all the KOM's local to you guys. Look at the years they were made. The new bikes are SLOWER.
The WT goes faster because of better drug tech and more sugar consumption.
Local riders are slower though if they are on the latest bikes vs their top tier bike from 2017 backwards.
