Here only the sale of pickup trucks, SUVs and commercial vehicles powered by diesel is allowed While in Europe the sale of diesel cars exceeds that of electric or gasoline-powered models, Brazil still prohibits the sale of this type of car. Of course, there are exceptions to the rule, but it is impossible to have, for example, a Volkswagen Polo diesel in Brazil as it is in Europe, or a Chevrolet Cruze diesel as it existed in the USA. But why does this happen ? Everything has to do with a law created in 1976. Ordinance MIC No. 346 of 19 November 1976 from the former Ministry of Industry and Commerce was updated on June 6, 1994 to Ordinance DNC No. 23, which governs the prohibition on the sale of diesel cars in Brazil. Why can pickup trucks ?
