      @@Purplecow233 Hello Karen, It seems that virtually everyone has them, but sometimes they are almost unnoticeable and don't cause any symptoms. In those circumstances they are described as comensals.
      It's only when they really 'get going' and cause symptoms that we become aware of them.
      They seem to like the greasy part of the face, forehead, temples, chin, but when they burrow into the roots of eyelash follicles, the tell tale sign of their presence are the crusty appearance along the base of the eyelashes resembling 'dandruff'.
      No one is really interested in Blepharitis. Ophthalmologists are busy and occupied with cataract surgery, and Dermatologists are similarly busy and don't want to interfere in 'eye' conditions...!!
      They can involve the meibomian glands on the inner surface of the eyelids, which is also wretched, producing 'styes'. They are also incriminated in a condition called Rosacae, which causes blotchy red areas of the cheeks. Ivermectin cream can be used for this, and it has also been used for blepharitis, but I have been using 5% permethrin dermal cream twice a week for many months, and I think that I've just about sent them on their way...
      Care has to be taken to keep it out of the eyes. I apply it sparingly along the eyelashes when my eyes are closed, I then turn the light off and go to sleep. It dries fairly quickly, but if any gets into my eyes, I get up and wash with soap and water promptly.
      I hope that you are able to 'get the better' of them....

    Lots of good info, thank you. Turns out my hair loss was actually a massive infestation of whichever version of mites it is. I discovered it when I took the clippers to my hair. But it also explained all the eye issues I have had. Turns out that my dry eyes, water blisters after being around smokers, etc was probably Demodex. I have used Tea tree oil sporadically over the years, which probably kept it just enough under control that it never became an issue. Just an irritant. But since I have been treating my hair, I figured I would do my eyes and face as well as my entire body as a precaution. So, 2 days later my eyes are no longer swollen, they are more clear, still dry, but getting better.
    I have always just cleaned my hands really well, used 1 drop of oil and rubbed it around my finger tips. Then I swiped a finger tip per lid and into the corners. I have also tried using liquified coconut oil into the eyes, which also really helped (when I did it) again, just a bit, not even a drop.
    The tea tree oil stings, but after you do it for a few days in a row, it doesn’t seem to sting as much.

    Hi Dr. D & Staff, love your channel. I remember after nursing school in 1991...We were taught to use a baby shampoo solution ( no more tears😎) on patients that had severe dry scaly eyebrows, eyelids & eyelashes along with a RX which I don't recall the name . I also recall when family would get a "Stye"...they would use a reg tea bag in warm/hot *NOT BOILING* water as many times daily & there are OTC ointment that he would purchase that are basically just mineral oil or petroleum jelly. My guess was that it would smother if it was mites. The teabag did help decrease the inflammation on those who were stubborn or prior to antibiotics .

It causes blepharitis for a few days after. I've tried different brands, but I wonder if the makeup is irritating/allowing any demodex I may have on my eyelids to multiply and that is causing the blepharitis? Could it be possible that I'm not actually allergic to eye makeup and I just have a horrible infestation of mites that doesn't normally cause me issues if I go makeup free?

I suppose my phone heard me talking about it or complaining about it and a man telling about demodex popped up in my TH-cam feed. So I watched his video and I said, "I knew it. I knew there was something living under my skin." Thank you guys for talking about treatments. I wash my face once daily and most often twice daily. But I will be using some tea tree oil and other natural things to get rid of this little parasite. Perhaps some pure gum spirit turpentine. But I just can't handle the thought of a parasite wiggling around in my face. 🤮 Thanks for sharing!

      Dandruff shampoo kills them on the surface, not the female who burrows. Everyone has them. They don’t go away. U can control them with dandruff shampoo. Also other ways. Dr. Oz said dermatologist are delusional, or they want u coming back. If u swim in chlorine pools 3 times a week for 3 months, u will kill their cycle, from

    Dear Dr, do you use METAL SHIELDS when you perform IPL? I wonder if such shields & the manual expression (warm up lids first) would make the Conjunctivochalasis, CCH
    worse? Just curious. Thanks.

    • @EyeSchoolwithDrD
      @EyeSchoolwithDrD  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I do use them, and I have seen better results with ipl since I started since I am able to treat the lids directly. I Instill proparicaine(topical anesthetic drop) and a drop of preservative free artificial tears before inserting the shields. I also perform external heat + expression in the same visit. I have not subjectively observed a worsening in Conjunctivochalasis. I will take a look at some of my videos pre and post procedures and see if I can tell a difference. I would say no at this time.

    • @EyeSchoolwithDrD
      @EyeSchoolwithDrD  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@eaglec.8865 Our understanding of CCH and its impact on the Ocular Surface has room for improvement. Nasal CCH seems to have a greater impact on DES when it folds over the puncta and/or changes the way tears drain. Thus impacting tear flow, tear chemistry, and resulting in inflammation and symptoms. So if CCH is mostly temporal then artificial tears wouldn't have as negative of an impact. Whereas when the CCH is nasal and impacting the tear duct you would just be flooding the surface with tears altering the osmolarity and potentially worsening symptoms. Yeah, we need to learn more about CCH....only Tx currently though is surgical. And on an inflamed dry eye? is that the best? Don't know the risk reward there.

      Neurotrophic keratitis is a corneal condition characterized by a loss of nerve sensation in the cornea and progresses to have an actual keratitis or staining of the cornea. In the later stages there is such thing as a neurotrophic ulcer. As for neurotrophic pain, I believe you're referring to neuropathic corneal pain. This has appeared in the literature recently, and docs sometimes refer to it as "pain without stain" as typically this occurs in a patient who has has refractive or other corneal surgery and has pain out of proportion with ocular signs as observed by the doc. that's the short version :) Hope it helps!

      Everyone has demodex, and rosacea is from demodex mites. U can reduce the numbers by using dandruff shampoo regularly. They don’t go away. U can only reduce them. Dr. Oz said dermatologist are delusional, or they want u coming back. If u swim in chlorine pools 3 times a week for 3 months, u will kill their cycle, from
      head to toe, ur eyes, nose, ears immersed and swim, then dunk ur head to keep it wet. I would do 4 months in case any survived. Otherwise u need to get a prescription for Oral Ivermectin from a parasite specialist. Dr. Oz said dermatologist have no clue about a lot of things. Dermatologist r the ones that say u r crazy/delusional, and they r not allowed to determine that. They r not psychiatrist. When he tells u that u r delusional, tell him he is not equipped as a psychologist to diagnose delusions. Tell him he’s a simple dermatologist, not a psychologist. Tell him U can say the same about him, that he needs more training in his field and is delusional.

    Your thyroid needs to be checked TSH. I found that I couldn’t fight off any pathogens that I came I contact with. I’m hypersensitive to them and they have scared my face and neck nipples even full of them. It’s ruined my life

      You might be dealing with heavy metal poisoning. Mercury takes over the thyroid and messes up the hormones & massive deficiency in nutrients which causes the immune system to overreact which causes the immune system to underreact for other things. Are you taking Lugol’s iodine?

      @@melissawilkinsdriskell9395 what did you end up doing to fix your thyroid issue?
      I do have one tip, make sure to treat your scalp too. I noticed that once I started just treating my face and eyelashes that it seemed like I would feel them go up into my hair and my hair started falling out in the shower. They have really expensive hair shampoos for humans, so I went with the shampoo for dogs. $10 vs $129 & the dog shampoo works better according to customer reviews. An anti-parasitic shampoo, mainly coal tar, sulfur, and oatmeal. No parabens etc. The first time I used it I didn’t feel that feeling on my scalp that I was feeling.
      It’s not our body’s fault. This world has become so toxic, our bodies are trying their hardest to protect us from all of it. But it needs help. Do you take any supplements?
      Scars suck. I drink warm lemon water to help my skin repair
